Τι ωραίο κομμάτι !!
Beautiful piece of music!  It has a feel of yearning optimism.

Why do I always think of a Quetin Tarantino moving when hearing this....?

MOST excellent.

There are so many songs and great bands that RP could play, if only the language barrier didn't exist!

Thanks Bill, quality is synonumous to RP.

Yes!

Of course!

I hear the drums, and they are playing march rhythms.  Cannot interpret the overall tune as anything but a chill-out plan to go Around the World in 80 Days.

This has a vibe similar to Khruangbin. They must have heard Kousko a lot. Very cool!

Anyone else getting Quentin Tarantio-esque endcredit vibes here?

And I think I'm picking up that same vibe with this one, call it +1 to 8 today.  LLRP!!
Wow... My older brother introduced me to the Shadows... I'm getting echos here

Surfin' Siberia again....
Another one of my favourites. The kind of music that can somehow lift your spirits even through its melancholy...
wow - getting serious Hank Marvin vibes here! I can just see the Shadows doing their dance steps.
You know, that guitar melody reminded me of something else, and I just worked it out.
Eminem/Rihanna's ' Love the way you lie' verses start with that tune.

The Diafana Krina version has an extra flourish at the end of each line, but the rest is pretty close.
Lazy surf meditation music!

Hmm, if pressed, I would have to agree that the odd one of the tracks played here meet my definition of "tripe" - but not many!

Asking Bill to play aforesaid category, however, is asking for trouble, as my Mum would have said.

Yeah.
This song reminds me a great deal of the sort of mellow surf put out by a band I really like called the Aqua Velvets.  I'd really like to hear a LOT more from Diafana Krina, if RP has any more available..

Hello RP-Listeners!

I wish all of you "MERRY CHRISTMAS",
wherever you are - whoever you wanna be!

Christmas is a sweet-naive tradition -
not a religious event!

I like it anyway!

Still - I hope Bill takes the chance
to rock the christmas-tree to pieces tonight!

"Happy Christmas
your "BAD SANTA",
aka STINGRAY
-from Cologne/Germany-
PS
Sermon of the day (promise: I'm serious):

The "Three Wise Men" - Melchior, Balthasar + Caspar
are buried in a golden sarcophage in"our" dome, the famous
"Cologne dome" - the third highest church-building
in the world - right in the very centre of town, next to the Rhine.
A gothic building of extra-class!

This song would pair well with Madrugada's "What's on your mind"...and a couple of beers
i thought it was the Pixies after the first coupla riffs ... love the big geeeeeeetar sound.
I always loved the Shadows, as a kid.

Non of that soppy love song stuff, just music.   {#Lol}
...did cowboys of the old west ever surf?..
Ditto on the Tarantino soundtrack material.  {#Dancingbanana_2}
I like their sound a lot

You know it! Bill really needs some Friends of Dean Martinez. It always suprises me that he has none, considering the Calexico he plays, and Joey Burns' early work with FoDM.

diafana krina on RP?? Brilliant! loved your pronunciation Bill :)

My deepest admiration to the Greek people right now... I wish you don't have to "be saved" by anyone and choose not paying an immoral debt

It seems it's immoral because an earlier government lied about its financial situation - which made for low cost loans initially. When the truth came out, the rates were adjusted for for a country with its truer economic health. Debts were called and refinanced  - and now all the people who borrowed more than they could realistically afford, at the adjusted rates, have been left with the bill.

From https://www.cozyrocket.com/category/surf-music:
Dick Dale's rendition of Misirlou actually has its roots in Greek and Middle Eastern Music, according to the Fender Players Club:

"Misirlou" has unusual origins for a seminal piece in American rock. Its roots are in Middle Eastern music, and it was a 1940s pop hit in Turkey (and a Greek folk dance) two decades before Dick revived and reinvented the piece in 1962 - when he gave it a high energy twist by performing it on electric guitar with his band, the Del-Tones.

And FWIW, Richard Monsour (aka Dick Dale) is himself of Mediterranean (Lebanese) descent.

That is so cool—-1962——a year for great inventions.
Sounds a bit like what you'd get if you recorded Apache with Ghost Riders in the Sky in Greece

Dose anybody know where I can find someone that sells this song as an MP3? Amazon and iTunes do not.

The song was first performed by the Michalis Patrino rebetiko band in Athens, Greece in 1927
