So the saying says "an elephant never forgets"
Standing in a concrete cave
Swaying sad and insane

They walked over the ocean in their dreams they dream awake
Until the lights grew dim
Until the cop cars came
Everybody tells me this is crazy yes, I know it

I'm a man-man-man, man-man-man eater
But still you're surprised-prised-prised when I eat ya

You know they call them killer whales
But you seem surprised when it pinned you down
To the bottom of the tank
Where you can't turn around
It took half your leg and both your lungs
When I craved I ate hearts of sharks, I know you know it

I'm a man-man-man, man-man-man eater
But still you're surprised-prised-prised when I eat ya
Yes I'm a man-man-man, man-man, man-eater
But still you're surprised-prised-prised when I eat ya

It will end again in bullets fired
It will end again in bullets fired

Love the song, love her, but the drumming on this song seems a little off. . . but I am being overly picky

I think that was the idea.

Mr. Churchill was right - two cultures separated by a common language. Thanks for the reflective humility lesson, there are so many things I think I know but really just have a small taste of.

Saw her on Spectacle w/ Elvis Costello. Didnt like her.  Neko, stick to singing...no interviews please.

This is the FIRST Neko Case song that I actually dislike. Go figure. I LOVE nearly everything else. It's just...I don't know, so bland for her.

Did the mother change Hawaii for Arizona? Neko would have been cooler if she had bought her mothers a house in Hawaii! LOL!

Neko Case's mom is a waitress at a diner in our small Hawaiian town. No joke.
Neko gave her mom her house in Arizona, which not only makes Neko cooler than she already is ... it also means we lose our favorite waitress!!!

What?? 130 degrees for 6 months straight, surrounded by sand and agave, 400 miles from the nearest ocean isn't better than 80 degrees and 15mph tradewinds blowing from the surrounding ocean? Hee Hee.

i don't like the lyrics, but the music is decent

I like Neko, but never understood why so many people were so into her stuff until I heard this one.

Maybe I'm just getting too old/deaf to hear the lyrics the first time..{#Roflol}

Saw her live in Omaha 10 days ago - great concert! This song is actually available to download/play on Rock Band, my current social entertainment addiction.
My current favorite song! 9!

Love the chiming guitar - sounds like an electric 12-string?

Amazing lyrics, powerful vocal delivery, tight, sensitive playing by the band.

Thanks RP for introducing me to Neko!

Thank you peyotecoyote! That is terrific.

This song, with 4 others, is on Neko's MySpace site. I've really liked all her numbers played on RP, which is a bit of a surprise as I loathe C&W and don't usually go much on plain C, yet she seems to 'transcend her genre', as the poncey critics would say. 7 from the Nottingham jury. And isn't it just my luck, she plays in Nottingham on 12th September just when I'll be away at a conference - D'OH!!

Don't be fooled. Genre means nothing. She's neither country nor western, just tinged with it!

You're not alone.  Maybe we can start a support group.

Neko was absolutely amazing at Massey Hall on July 14.  She was very nervous but did a magnificent job. The onstage banter was amusing as well.  I wish I could go all over again. What a night.

Great (suggestive) lyrics from one who I like the more I hear. I think Neko Case made the NP, as I haven't really become smitten by any of their output since she left.

My first "family" car was a '70 Cougar, bright yellow, black leather interior, resplendent with sequential turn signals, flip-up headlight covers, and gas-guzzling engine. It was a looker but a POS when it came to satisfaction and driving experience. Typical of Detroit's (or more properly, Dearborn's) output, which was trumped mightily by the Far East. Lots of memories, though.

Sure like this song.

Those "Far East" cars from that era aren't worth anything (if you can find one running- throw away cars-and they still are).
And did I mention... they're still boring today.
Compare that with those from the big three from that era.
Some are worth millions.
Gimmie my Mopars any day.

Sure like the song too!

Hey, I'm pretty sure that's Neko's personal car. She mentions an early Cougar (that she is restoring) in the mini-interview Rolling Stone did on her a couple of issues back. {#Clap}
Thank you, Bill, for playing so much of this album!
No song this year had grow on me as much as this one. It started out a 2 when I heard it on the Paste Sampler, now it's up to a 7. It just clicked with me at some point. Before that I thought it was just awful.

Great tuneage.
Definitely Neko lyrics.

PFFFFFT!
Ford couldn't produce what Mopar put out.

Finally!  I've been hoping this would make it to Radio Paradise soon.

Sweet!
Fantastic! New Neko Case! This is a time for Great Rejoicing!!{#Dance} {#Sunny}

And look, she's even ready for battle {#War}

Finally, new Neko. With all the solo projects coming out of New Pornographers members does that band stand a chance of staying together? Hopefully.

This song needs to be played... it's quite good as is the rest of the album.
