Time was driftin', this rock had got to roll
So I hit the road and made my getaway
Restless feeling really got a hold
I started searching for a better way

And I kept on looking for a sign in the middle of the night
But I couldn't see the light
No, I couldn't see the light
I kept on looking for a way to take me through the night
Couldn't get it right
I couldn't get it right

L.A. fever made me feel right
But I must admit it got the best of me
Getting down, so deep I coulda drowned
I can't get back the way I used to be

But I kept on looking for a sign in the middle of the night
But I couldn't see the light
No, I couldn't see the light
I kept on looking for a way to take me through the night
Couldn't get it right
Couldn't get it right

New York City took me with the tide
But I nearly died from hospitality
Left me stranded, took away my pride
Just another no-account fatality

I kept on looking for a sign in the middle of the night
But I couldn't see the light
No, I couldn't see the light
I kept on looking for a way to take me through the night
Couldn't get it right
Couldn't get it right

I kept on looking for a sign in the middle of the night
But I couldn't see the light
No, I couldn't see the light
I kept on looking for a way to take me through the night
Couldn't get it right
Couldn't get it right

I believe you earned yourself a record for down votes for that silly comment.
I just got stationed to RAF Mildenhall, UK. September '76. I was 19 years old. Met a cool guy shortly after arriving who had an old MGB GT. He asked me if I wanted to go check out this cool band called Climax Blues Band, playing at some place I think was called the Cambridge Coin Exchange. He had some blonde Lebanese.  Hell, Yeah!  We drove the hour or so to get there. When we walked in, it looked like a large gymnasium.  It was freezing cold outside, at least for this South Florida boy. The only thing I remember about the concert was when Peter Hancock played what seemed like a 20-30 minute solo, with only either the bass or drums. It was amazing. RIP Peter Hancock. Thanks for a creating a lifetime memory all these years later.
OMG this needs to be in Thor Love and Thunder!! Fits the story perfectly.
Easy, guys.. I put my pants on just like the rest of you — one leg at a time. Except, once my pants are on, I make Climax Blues Band records, baby.

'Holding on for Life' by Broken Bells played just before this sounded aLOT like the Bee Gees
This song needs more cowbell.
Advice to the remastering producer: crank the cowbell

Define "oldies."
Please don't turn RP into an oldies station!
Preceded AWB?
Now that's what I call a groove...!
I love this. It really takes me back, too, as they’re from the home town of my formative years. One hit wonders, though.
Reminds me of Sly& the Family Stine

Great Movie! How much fun is it to watch Jeniffer Beals say "Fuck" right in your face?

Oooooh, disco!
Great goove
This suits me just fine.
And it's all about me.
Funky! Brought me back to the '70s.
Maximum Cowbell!!!
Climax Blues Band - spent some studio time with them - photographed them on stage too! Sadly missed
Needs more Bruce Dickinson.
Love the bassline in this track :)
Forgotten about this track and thought it was 10cc for a minute.
Haven't heard that one in a long time. Loving it!

I always think it was the Fun loving criminals. Shame on me ...
Fun fact - just realised this song was ripped off by none other than good old infidelity champions Ashley Madison:

Back then I thought they were American, but I never thought they sounded like Sly & The Family Stone.  Turns out they're from the Midlands of England.

Wait, what? I think the singer and beat alone should have tipped you off...But I'll grant you that if someone had put a gun to my head and ordered me to name the band, I wouldn't have had a clue. And I've heard this song hundreds of times.

1977, huh? I would have guessed this came out a bit earlier but it still grooves.

I do believe this has more cowbell.
Broken Bells, Climax Blues Band:  both nicely utilize the falsetto.  Next band has to be BeeGees.

I'm pretty sure Juice Newton didn't have any hits until the early 1980s - not sure why I remember that.  Anyhow, I always liked this tune, "campy" or not.

No, because Radiohead was in the 90s.  Fact.
bad bee gees disco vibe, bad, bad
no nostalgia for this type of music from this corner
but then the song title may say it all

If you're comparing the 70s to the Thirty Years War, then yes your statement's absolutely right. When you move on to just about any other era, you're on shaky ground.

6 = Pretty Good by itself
7-->7.5 after the BB King/Tracy Chapman "The Thrill is Gone"

I agree about the cowbell comments, too.  "More cowbell" indeed...
I have always thought this sounded like Zappa, maybe in one of his more commercial interludes.

Thanks for playing this! Way back when, I brought this cool piece of vinyl to a party and never saw it again. Good party, though!
Wow....
I'm 8 again... riding in the back of my dad's '76 Gran Prix.... 70's green, of course.
Brought the laptop out into the garage to finish working on my bikes.
Neighbor/rental handyman heard this and said "Wow, ain't heard this in years. What station did you say this was?"
The following Arcade Fire tune got "Now I don't know who that is...but it's not bad"
....this, on the other hand, is uhm... a very nice commercial effort.
They did so much better stuff than this.......
Hadn't heard this in a very long time. Had to crank the volume and groove. Thanks!!
YEP! LOVE THIS!!! Way to change things up here!! Bill....I think you 'definitely got it right'!!! {#Mrgreen}{#Bananajam}This is when it was fashionable to have 'MORE COWBELL'.

up next on the lost 45s... "shannon is gone"
MUCHO CENCERRO!!!  {#Devil_pimp}
Oh how I love Radio Paradise..

Any bar band with any self respect had this little nugget in their repertoire.
Have not heard this in years. Needs more Cowbell Fantastic!

Most excellent!

Man, come on!! What's up with all the "let's check each others ratings and prove our points that way"... Music is purely a matter of taste, so what if he thinks DB's Heroes is a 1, that doesn't have anything to do with this song....

Just stick to your own ratings, discuss all you want about people's comments on a song, but don't use their ratings as a tool....

Thank you sir! I have made that point to him, but he is just mad cause I don't like Pearl Jam.{#Lol}
OMG...I'm trapped in a time warp...after reconnecting with an old friend from the 70's and now this!  This song played non-stop in Texas during the 70's...yikes.

Well you've certainly proven the first part of your sentence by some of your bizarre ratings.

So this is what qualifies as "fantastic."

How about another tune from the same era - lets say David Bowie's Heroes - Oh yeah - you give that a 1 {#Shhh}

But IIRC, it did get too much air play back in the day
I uploaded this tune a long time ago and got turned down. I'm happy that Rebecca had a change of heart. Great tune.
Who turned off my RP and put retro commercial radio back on......{#Tongue-out}

This is a great song ... and boy, does it bring back memories, mostly of riding in cars around N Calif.

A rainy day in Vancouver. This perks me up!
Ouch!  I never pine for this type of music...
Sweet!!!!
This is a huge miss for RP.  Even after all these years that disco sound still sucks.

Got this on one of those K-Tel compilation albums back in the early 70's. I was about 8 years old. {#Propeller} It is imprinted on my psyche!!

Same here. I've grooved to this song since the first time I heard it in 1977. A couple of my hard rock friends gave grief back then (17 and perfect don't you know). It didn't matter.

I don't care what anyone says; this is a fantastic song!!{#Notworthy}
Wow. Total childhood flashback.
