Nah, alot of that was simply people who felt passionately about something letting their passion seep into their music.  I don't hear that here.  There's a line (that exists for me at a different place than everyone else I'm sure) where it stops being art and becomes simply polemics.  Rather than try and define my line, I'll give you an example:  Dar Williams' Empire vs. Ani Difranco's Self-Evident.  I love Empire, while Self-Evident gets me mad when I hear it.  Why?  Because one is a deft piece of social criticism, while the other is anger wielding a club.

Ironically both are far superior musically to this (which, is much less controversial in content). I'd say this song is more like a soundbite for a political ad, not really art at all.  I don't LIKE Self-Evident, but I have to admit its powerful art.  This, not so much.

Edit: In case this isn't clear, I'm not unhappy with Mr. Obama as our new president.  Not even a little bit.  This isn't me grinding an axe.

This is an OK novelty track which will (and probably has) already burned itself out.  But the political bad-losership in these comments is hilarious.

Come on now Bill - to maintain Radio Paradise's non-partisan status, I think you now need to play some electronica with Republican soundbites... how about some Bill W. or some Sarah Palin?  Also acceptable is Tina Fey impersonating Sarah Palin.  {#Tongue}

Let's not and say we did.

Here it is, round two!  Let's see how the other (slightly less than) half responds this time around...
I heard the entire thing this time and feel confirmed in my impression: someone took a moving speech (one that had me in tears) and marginalized it by cutting it up, putting an uninteresting drum under it, and repeating a catch phrase until it became meaningless. Not cool. Sucko-barfo.

What happens when GarageBand falls into the wrong hands...

The speeches were better without the soundtrack.
You know what? I like it!!

Wow, what a crabby bunch! I think this isn't bad, but then I've been in the tank since the beginning.

I can understand why people would find this isn't really right for RP, but I think it's fair to let Bill play this a couple of times between now and 1/20 - this is an exciting time.

Exciting time? It's gonna be exciting all right.

Yeah, actually, it is that bad.
aw come on — it's not that bad.
Sucko Barfo on this one. It would still be suck-barfo even if if didn't have HRH Obamessiah on it. Who the hell wants to hear anymore political stump speaches... from either side??

This is......CRAP!
Beh..
Byrne and Eno did this a loooooong time ago, far more interestingly and with far fewer electronic gadgetry available to them.

I only tuned in at the end, and am ecstatic that Obama won, but the music just wasn't good. I will hold off rating until I hear the whole thing though.
...that must have taken quite literally moments to produce. Well done, another piece of aural detritus to fill my world with.
Don't we get enough of this stuff everywhere else?

It would appear that most of the first voters didn't care for the content.  Gonna be a long 8 years for some...
If I wanted to listen to an Obama campaign speech, I would.

Glad to know it's not being inflicted on the general public.  Now we can only hope that RP listeners will be granted the same grace.

Give me a break
Umm...Ummm
pretty interesting...
HM.   Can they do this legally?
Wow, he's already getting his quotes put into electronica.
