Well, be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby love
My baby love, my baby love
Well, she's the girl in the red blue jeans
She's the queen of all the teens
She's the one that I know
She's the one that loves me so
Say be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby love
My baby love, my baby love
Well, she's the one that gots that beat
She's the one with the flyin' feet
She's the one that walks around the store
She's the one that gets more more more
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby love
My baby love, my baby love

Elvis was takin' notes when Rockabilly pioneer Vinnie came out -- watch early vids of Vinnie & Blue Caps and then Elvis' Jailhouse Rock vid.
not my jig, but my Dad loves it so I give it an 8 instantly just for him!!
Elvis, eat your heart out!
Elvis was taking notes....
This song makes me picture cruising around Sandy Shores in Grand Theft Auto V in a rusted VW Bug.

I thought Buddy Holly too. I can hear the Elvis that others hear too.

RP is such a great aural gymnasium!

Hunh...dead at 36 and on wife #4...no wonder he had an ulcer big enough to kill him...
Can't believe this isn't Elvis.
                                                   1956 CHEVY BEL-AIR

How in the world is this not Elvis Presley?
So damn plinky...

Your lucky. In my country there was none of this on the radio
THIS, Elvis,' and Jerry Lee Lewis' influence was how and why much later acts like Stray Cats & Queen felt compelled to trot it out again.
Not paying close attention, I thought it was Paul McCartney's cover from his "Unplugged" concert for MTV.

Shows me how good the original is.  :-)
Love the flexible tempo. The way he gets carried away and rushes well ahead at the break.
One of the first "records" that I ever bought - Vinyl, 78rpm.  I still love it!

Guess you haven't heard of Link Wray.
The inception of Rockabilly 4sure!

I just realised this is like appreciating a fine antique. I was -2 when this came out but can appreciate its simple charm at a time before popular music had kicked off.

Slightly worn round the edges but still useful.
Man.. this thing has been covered over and over.
Even ol' Frank Farian tried to reboot his Boney-M legacy with it.
Stumbled over this little (somewhat kinky) gem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHr5Xp4werU
Imagine the rating for this song if it had been by Elvis.  Brilliant vocal.
I always thought this was an Elvis Presley song... O_o
Godlike.

rock a billy !
Gene was in the taxi that killed Eddie Cochran in a car crash. Gene only suffered a broken leg: the ruptured stomach ulcer that killed him was later.
Classic!
{#Devil_pimp} love the version by jeff beck and the playboys
That drummer must have loved this song...
I was born in 1956!

Too bad my parents were too square to dig this.....

Like all groundbreaking tunes, it's hard to realize how this did NOT fit with the usual flow. Ballsy, different, and inspirational.
gives ya chills
SO totally fresh, cool, and cutting edge for 1956! Love it!
Listen closely class. This is what Rock and Roll can be. Notice how more than 60 years later it does not sound the least bit dated. Still as badazz as ever.

Ok, Ok, I know what they are, but I didn't come along until 45's were all the rage!!

I was a little after Mr. Vincent's time, but I still like it - gets an 8 from this young whipper-snapper
So far ahead....That Tremelo...
Godlike !

Nice follow-up to Freddie riding around on his motorbike...
Sounds like the Stan Freberg "Heartbreak Hotel" parody! (Of course, I remember this one from "the day.")

If they have, then why not take the term back?

OH SHIT, right...because nobody can use the term "ground zero" ever again after September 11, 2001.  Totally reasonable.  Carry on talking about music.

Like the Louie Prima song "Jump, Jive, an' Wail!" that RP played last night from the same year, it is noteworthy indeed how this stuff opened up and illuminated some interesting territory for music to go into — and it did!  Long live ROCK!

I can appreciate those who enjoy this, I am just not one of them.  But, that is why I have a mute button.  :)
Back to the start! luv it

 Some schoolin happened today...
The real deal!!! Always thought Elvis was a poser...
Roots!  R&R wouldn't BE w/out this guy and a few others (esp. Mr. Berry).
Yeah, do it Gene.
Yeah!

In fact, Lennon's cover on his solo Rock and Roll album is possibly the most faithful cover song I have ever heard - John probably had been singing it Gene's way since the first time he heard the song way back when before he was famous.
So is Be Bop A Lula the girl's name or just filler?
Classic!
Great song from one of the first rockers.
I must be a swanker, but when I break out in song, it's this one. Thanks Vince for giving us the vibe.

Thanks for the INFO..

My first stereo radio/record player....1964..I had one wheel to wheel tape recorder some years before that.

First FM broadcasting in Sweden..1947.

Just saw Gene in "Hot Rod Gang' the other night . Great stuff!

                     {#Arrowd}....{#Yes}
The opening, the trembling voice, the guitar work...........sublime.
Great tune...Dad used to come into my room on Saturday mornings singing this one after his coffee....whew a long time ago that was!
