My love's an ocean
You better not cross it
Yeah I've been the distance
And I need some rest
Yeah I had somebody once
And damn if I lost her
I've been running
Like a man possessed

I don't scare easy
Don't fall apart
When I'm under the gun
You can break my heart
And I ain't gonna run
I don't scare easy
For no one

Yeah, I am a loser
At the top of my game
I should have known
To keep an eye on you
Now I got a sky
That ain't never the same
Yeah, I got a dream
That don't ever come true

I don't scare easy
Don't fall apart
When I'm under the gun
You can break my heart
But I ain't gonna run
I don't scare easy
For no one

Sun going down
On a canyon wall
I got a soul
That ain't never been blessed
Yeah and I'm a shadow
At the back of the hall
Yeah, I got a sin
I ain't never confessed

And I don't scare easy
Don't fall apart
When I'm under the gun
You can break my heart
And I ain't gonna run
I don't scare easy
For no one

And I don't scare easy
Don't fall apart
When I'm under the gun
You can break my heart
But I ain't gonna run
I don't scare easy
For no one

This was one of the last songs Coyote FM played before it sold out to classic rock.  Good stuff from Mr. Petty. I'm glad he got back with his old cronies.  They have a comfortable groove - it's evident in the musicianship and the vocals. No primadonnas here - just a bunch of friends, making music. (Sorta like Farm Dogs, Bernie Taupin's band.)

I must just be in a music mood - I'm liking everything being played so far! {#Roflol}
Not nice - brilliant!
Very nice!!

Yea, but what team in the majors would keep a guy who has not had a hit in over 25 years?{#Eek} And before someone replies that he has had a couple of top 40 hits since then, I don't mean having commercial success, I mean putting out a decent song!
you guys play way too much Tom Petty
Listening to Tom Petty always makes me want to lay back and pop open a beer.

Hehe! akin to the Traveling Wilburys ...

Folks this is Tom Petty....

* Tom Petty - lead vocals, bass guitar
* Mike Campbell - lead guitar
* Tom Leadon - rhythm guitar, backing vocals
* Benmont Tench - keyboards, vocals
* Randall Marsh - drums

Nope, this song isn't self-serving at all. Not a bit.
gotta say, I like it ... totally thought this was the Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. Cool art too ...
Cool song, great lyrics!

Bravo!
Hahahaha!

I was a student at U of Fla when Mudcrutch used to play free shows on the lawn. Who knew the skinny little townie would do this well?

Why?
Because he's ripping off Neil Young?

And earplugs.

Mudcrutch.  A strange visual. I wonder where the name comes from....

Noted. Correct! 10.

it is always to greet with affability the courage, the resistance in the time, the friendship necessary to bring in return this band initially formed in  70's years; the odd style of  mr. Tom Petty is noticed with clearness -  ** 8 **

I doe-no——— Southern Comfort perhaps, or did he breath very deep at the Fountain of Dylan ? You always have
an 'exercise of free will' called VOLUME .....check it out, it's also called the anti-b*tch button.
You know what they say about two 2 standard deviations from the mean.......and so if Petty is the mean then .....

Mudcrutch, the bread of a Heartbreakers sandwich...

His usual, no doubt . . .{#Roflol}
This best part about this project...reading about the surprise and joy the drummer got when Tom Pettty, his old bandmate, called him up after a few decades and said, "Were getting the band back together."  That would be really cool, I bet.
 amyjpr wrote:
so is tom petty the lead singer? or his son? or an impersonator?

Tom sings lead and plays bass for Mudcrutch.

Oddly, I heard this about 24 hours ago on mvyradio.com. Well, I guess it's not that odd. I agree with the other poster who said that Petty gets better with age. Yes, this has the risk of being overplayed, but for now, it's all good. I like the lyrics. If only it were true.

I bought the "extended" version off iTunes that came with two videos of them performing live. I'm pretty sure the audio was not dubbed in those either, although I have watched them that closely. I agree the "recorded live in studio" sound is great, and I'm really enjoying the album.

It's pretty bad....Hoobastank is nothing to be  proud of either.

That said, the album is surprisingly great. You might think it's just another Petty album under another name but it's closer to Full Moon Fever with it's fun feel with a nice dash of Gram Parsons thrown in there.

According to the liner notes it was all recorded live, no overdubs, no headphones. That's a rarity these days and gives you an appreciation for the talent and craftsmanship on display.

So what exactly did Tom Petty fill his sinuses with to make him sound THIS nasal??

Love it. It's getting perma-play on FM stations lately, but I'm not tired of it yet. I just love me some Tom Petty. Didn't know it was Mudcrutch, tho... had to look that up.
It's Mudcrotch!!! AGAIN!!! Just when I needed more nasal whining in my day.

So this is just a Tom P and the Heartbreakers record then?
No , no it is Tom's first band, before the Heartbreakers. They have gotten back together , since they are old now and there are no ego problems. :) This is what he was trying to re-create when he formed the Heartbreakers
This CD is on pretty high rotation in my music player. I also threw Hard Promises on there. The two compliment each other.
Any one hear Graham Parker in this?
So this is just a Tom P and the Heartbreakers record then?

I agree, his voice is a little too raw here and detracts for me too. Still, a fan.
I was busy trying to wash the mental image of a 'mudcrotch' outta my head I was wrong, but I think my word is better
Holy COW Tom Petty's voice grates when he puts it into full-turbo nasal mode.
Okay, becuase I was going to say: "gawd this must be Tom Petty." Turns out it must be.
Oh boy, just what RP needs... more Tom Petty.
I have been a fan of Tom's since the 7o's, and I think this is some of the best stuff he has done in a long time. His last solo was good, but this has a loose vibe I really like.
Yep, sometimes it takes age to make the perfect sound or vocal even. This is one of the better albums from Tom I've heard in quite some time, solo or with another band.
Not bad...Tom's gotten better with time.
