Eight-oh-five.
It's useless to try
I guess you're leaving soon

I can't go on without you
To keep you would be so wonderful
To love you is so good
Here is my heart that I give

It's all that I have
Do you think you could try?
Please change your mind
Before my sunshine is gone
Do you think you could try?

Before my sunshine is gone

Please change your mind
Do you think you could try?
Do you think you could try?

Do you think you could try?
Do you think you could try?
See it through
You know your tears
Would only bring pain in my heart
Until I can prove it to you
Don't fill my world with rain

Eight-oh-five.
I guess you're leaving, goodbye...

I studied that album photo, and if we're to judge hand gestures, apparently the washboard player didn't like it so much.

LOL!

Compared to some of the names groups give themselves today Moby Grape is pretty tame.

My all time fav...The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band...Most psychedelic
track...Anniversary of WWIII...A blank track...

Tony in NJ
W.A.S.T.E.

Truly Godlike. A 10 all the way.

Of course I lived in Berkley during their heyday so a bit biased.
Kind of "Box of Rainy" or vice-versa
Back in 1967, my first surfboard in Hawaii was named "Moby Grape."
Don't harsh on PJ too much.  Also was not a fan and finally started to appreciate them more.  Was late getting Nirvana also...
Dated
I actually still have the Lothar album on vinyl. They were one not too big hit wonders with "Machine". I think the theremin was their hook.

Great harmony and playing from one of psychedelic San Francisco's best 60s groups, along with Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane, Santana and Country Joe and the Fish.
This song is one of those perennial songs from the sixties that keeps coming up in my memory.  It represents a very sweet time in my life and takes me right back. Nice to hear and know other people remember it well.

Very '60s. But timeless.

I agree!!

Awesome! Saw them open for Pinback at The Fox here in Boulder a few years ago. Amazing legacy; seems they still rock; it's all good!

{#Music} still have my copy of this vynl nice stuff / hey grand ma
Had a copy.  This album was brilliant, if poorly recorded.  This group's story is tragic.

The original unretouched artwork from first pressing

Just love it. On the original record cover he is giving the finger on the washboard in the pic and after the first release it was airbrushed out.

Never heard their music before, but I climbed a beautiful rock route in New Hampshire named after them: https://www.mountainproject.com/v/moby-grape/105884815
'do you think you can try'not sounding like the grateful dead.
cool tune man  (bleh photo 'cept for that sneaky flip of the bird)

It was the punch line to a stoner riddle, "What's purple and lies at the bottom of the ocean?"

I always chuckle when I think that a group of men named their band Moby Grape.
Too Groovy!{#Daisy}
This takes me back!
It has been a looong time since I have heard this. Thanks Bill and company

This is so, so bad. They can't sing, the song is slow as molasses. Utter fail.
Holy crap!  Haven't heard this for  a very long time.  Also haven't heard the album it's off of in years, but have a vague memory of it being solid.

"And here's something from Moby"... huh, what? lol...
The cover shot of the band is in front of the "little store" on Bolinas Ave in Fairfax,Ca.
I would buy a RC cola and salami sandwich for 26 cents.
Van Morrison lives up the street.

Now you're talking!  Fallen off the radar, have they?  They're still excellent.  Remember the controversy about the middle finger being used on the washboard in the album cover?  The finger was changed in later issues.

I just got back from 6 weeks of project work in Brockton!  I didn't see them.

One of the seminal bands of the 60's, gone from view now but for the likes of RP. Good on ya, BillG!
Well, here's another one I uploaded a few years ago that got the boot. Now it's playing on the main. Dang. I hate when that happens. I just wish Rebecca would accept all my uploads so my ratio wouldn't look so bad.
Quintessential perfection from a troubled bunch of misfits. The Grape stand next to Airplane, Spirit and Big Brother as standard bearers from the late 60's San Fran scene. Thanks Bill.

Yeah, it's pretty funny. I like to believe that the shutter fell fast enough to catch it before it ceremoniously flipped.
