No Thank You, Guess i'm just too American to enjoy this - hurts my ears...
Superb vocals and flute. Orchestral arrangements a bit too "western" (mebby) :-)
Damg Bill, Kula Shaker's Tattva segued to this piece is masterful as well as all you segues. Skills unlike no one I've heard. Thank you from this long time listener.
I stand by my comment of 10 years ago.

Wow. This is unbelievably ugly. The world music spasms are always tough to take, but this is hostile to Western ears. If you want to repel people, this is the way to go about it.

Oh I'm sorry, my culture does not allow me to like this. So sorry!
Come back with a steel guitar maybe?

Just jokes guys and gals, enjoy the ride :)
Arresting album cover: an image of Shiva in the center, with (I think) a stylized modern  representation of the Sanskrit symbol for "Om" surrounding That.
I like.

Trostlos Records Exec:  How would you describe your new band's genre, Stefan?

Stefan Hertrich:  New Age/Oriental/Gothic*

Trostlos Records Exec:  Okayyyy... I'll just put down "Ethnic"

*actual quote
Beginning sounds like "the book of my life" from Sting.
But Sting has done ist better :D

Time to leave your mum's basement for a little fresh air, Janio.

There are people listening that haven't got 'Western ears' you know.

I have got 'Western ears' and they aren't hostile to this - I like it.

Very nice! 8!{#Meditate}

Kind of takes me to another dimension. Makes me get quiet and listen. {#Ask}

Well Bill, it isn't strim of your radio, but I like it!!! OK. Thank for your taste!

Whoah!! Hostile to your ears, maybe, but don't go speaking for the hundreds of millions of "Western" people. As sweeping statements go, that's pretty damn catch-all. It's certainly not hostile to my lugholes, and IMO it's made a lot more accessible to "Western ears" by the remixing and electronica. 8 => 9

Yaya Bill! More stuff like this, pretty please! {#Hearteyes}

The singing is phenomenal. I would have rated higher except that the instrumentation did not grab me.

Opposite for me — the music is haunting, and at first I thought it was flute music from the Andes — until the vocals came in, which almost ruined it for me.

Obviously not in a meditative mood.  The next time you hear something like this wonderful selection, close your eyes and concentrate on taking a long walk off a short pier. LOL  {#Meditate}

Yeah, I agree. I really like this, also, and am glad I can come to RP and hear things like this, especially mixed in with things I'm a little more familiar with.

I agree also!  This is why I love RP!

{#Music}
I like it!
got my attention right away

This song is used as intro music by the PodCastle fantasy fiction podcast. Had me puzzled for a second there. {#Surprised}

I find it kind of relaxing.
I so don't like this.  Its like a dodgy tv advertising version of middle eastern music set to a cheesy drum beat that would make Pete Waterman wince.
Sounds like a heavily focus-group-tested Disney PC "ethnic" movie soundtrack and not the real thing.  4

Ethnic-sploitation cover...

Still I like it enough for a 7.

Cheese-master. The comment about Cirque du Soleil was dead on.

  now there you have it.  totally agree :-)

This is the missing image.

Yeah, I f*cking love this sort of stuff. Exotic Middle Eastern (or Indian in this case?) rhythms, a voice that raises goose pimples, with a bit of electronica thrown in. It's this sort of surprise that makes RP so worth listening to. More of the same, please! 8 from the Nottingham jury.

That you love this, is what I like about it.
Promoting appreciation of other cultures has to be a good thing for our children and grandchildren....................

If you dig this, I highly recommend either of the two albums from Kaya Project...

You can listen to full tracks on their site.

Certainly escape music..took me a while to come back down

Ditto, had to crank up the volume. I sometimes go to an Indian restaurant that plays that sort of stuff. Most other people in the restaurant seem to try to ignore it, I'm the only one grooving in my chair. Can't take me anywhere {#Embarassed}

It makes me think of fractals.

You're right, its not about the music. I can't speak for all the other 1 voters but for me its the bizarre ululating vocals that make it unbearable. But then I didn't care for that yodeling cowboy in Mars Attacks either - no wonder the Martians' heads exploded! "When I'm calling yoouuuu..."

I like it a lot, hypnotic. Something different.
Nice set. :D
Not the greatest thing ever recorded but the number of 1 ratings makes me kind of sad. Makes me think it might not be about the music. 7, could be an 8 if I were in the backyard having a bbq.
Might just be my naive western ears... but, could never get into this.

I love the sound...exotic and hypnotic.
I think I know why Shiva is in exile. Hint: it's not the breathing.

Mmmm. Like the intro. I'm relaxed already.
