High on this mountain
The clouds down below
I'm feeling so strong and alive
From this rocky perch
I'll continue to search
For the wind
And the snow
And the sky
I want a lover
I want some friends
And I want to live in the sun
And I want to do all the things that I
never have done.

Sunny bright mornings
And pale moonlit nights
Keep me from feeling alone
Now, I'm learning to fly
And this freedom is like
Nothing that I've ever known
I've seen the bottom
And I've been on top
But mostly I've lived in between
And where do you go
When you get to the end of
your dream?

Off in the nether lands
I heard a sound
Like the beating of heavenly wings
And deep in my brain
I can hear a refrain
Of my soul as she rises and sings
Anthems to glory and
Anthems to love and
Hymns filled with early delight
Like the songs that the darkness
Composes to worship the light.

Once in a vision
I came on some woods
And stood at a fork in the road
My choices were clear
Yet I froze with the fear
Of not knowing which way to go
One road was simple
Acceptance of life
The other road offered sweet peace
When I made my decision
My vision became my release.

RIP Dan... "Like a phoenix I have risen from the flames No more living Someone elses dreams" Phoenix is still one of my favorite albums.

I'm very sorry that he passed away, but his death doesn't make his music any less sucktacular.
True. We'll the playlist slide this time but please don't play this again. I don't like his music that much but he's got way better stuff than this. I would go so far as to say playing this song is an insult to his memory and his work (that should get some flames going on this page ;-)
Yes, it's okay to be sad about someone dying young and still hate this crap. Sucko - barfo! bentonian wrote:
Um, has anyone not noticed that this is a horrible song? Sappy strings, weak vocals, dripppy lyrics?
Heard about his death last night. I got to see him in concert (way back when) - great show. Loved, owned, and (perhaps over-) played lots of his music... because it was good for me...

Sorry to hear the news as well. This song, however....
Kinda makes me think of Disney's Little Mermaid for some reason...
Thanks for the music Dan...you will be missed.
There weren't too many of his songs that I did not like. Could have done with out the 'Power of Gold' bit other than that, I enjoyed almost all of his music. It is sad that he went so young

Wow does this bring back memories. I sang this in a talent show at summer camp when i was like 12. I'm sure when i sang "i want a lover" back then, i was just thinking a snuggle buddy in the pillow boxes at the theatre. No idea what i did on stage during the long 'orchestra solo'.

I went thru my entire Dan Fogelberg collection yesterday after hearing the news. Always great to hear this masterpiece again. Rest in Peace, Dan. Thank you for the beautiful music. Your legacy will live on thru it forewer.
Dan Fogelberg was one of my earliest songwriting inspirations. Although most will find his music somewhat sappy, he was a poet above all other things. He will be greatly missed. Dan Fogelberg 1952-2007. Rest in Peace, my friend.
Barf.
glad to have heard your music while you were alive, sad to hear it now that you aren't. great live in small venues in marin county back in the day.
His music was a force in my life since the 70's, his words and voice were so pure and honest.
Kinda out of character foer this station but let's give some love to a hometown hero. Rock on Central Illinois.
Wow, have not heard this in a very long time. Rest well, Dan.
