Lets age me for a second. Am I the only person who hears this and visualizes and old "Clutch Cargo" cartoon where the entire TV screen is frozen except the the moving lips?
wow, I don't think I've thought of that since I was 10 or whatever.. man that was stupid and awful then. What a lousy memory to dredge up. Good music brings back good memories, so it is only fitting that this bring up bad memories.

If it were quirky I might find this acceptable. But annoying is a more appropriate description.

I like it more each time I hear it....just noticed some mid-eastern elements in it as well.....this is a REAL poly-ethnic song!!
I'm just a sucker for quirky covers, and this fits well :)
I regret that I only have one "1" to give to this song

Will the 4 people who voted this a 10 please make themselves known so they can be 'd

That's exactly what I was going to say.

Gee, and I thought it was Elmer Fudd.
WTF? It's not April 1st yet is it?
the intro reminds me off the tea party 'edges of twilight' album, but that's much better than this!

So funny and bizarre, and pretty cool musically. Where do people like this come from?
They had to come from under a rock somewhere?
BAD, BAD
what are you kidding??....this has to be the best Swedish blues music out there!! Think I'm gonna but the CD since it has a few Willie Dixon tunes as well.
I just can't make up my mind. Some of you think this is grating, some think its funny as s*** and I have to agree with both. I give it a 1. and a 9. and a 4. Crap. You decide.
Put a smile on my face...nice diversion to a boring work day. I don't know how many times I could handle hearing this though.

Sweden. Avg. Rating: 3.9 (Total Ratings: 119) it was 4.2 a minute ago.

Just because it sucks doesn't mean I need to lighten up!
This is ridiculously bad. 1

I don't mind covers but this is pratically character assasination.
MUTE,MUTEMUTE,MUTEMUTE,MUTEMUTE,MUTE
This is ridiculously interesting. 10
why bother?

Waa ha ha ha. I would have to agree. Anyway, I'll leave the jury out on this. Look forward to the Voodoo Child.

nope Oddly, I'd not be mad if this is not dropped though. it is a 2, but it's a dry 2. err or something

My point exactly.
My first 1 on RP. I don't mind variations on a classic, but found this incredibly irritating.
A solid 3, not 1 because it has an element of interest. Notice how the ratings histogram resembles a jet aircraft?
I enjoy creative, original covers of songs I like. This is a blast!

My upload. I appreciate your comments, at least you don't seem indifferent to it Urban Turban is a Swedish band centered around Peter Bryngelsson. They apply a wide range of instruments (including nyckelharpa, oud, bagpipe, chapman stick, goblet drum, etc), putting blends of Swedish folk & Arabic folk into American rock and blues covers. I don't think the band is active any more. I may be biased for liking this band by the great live performances they used to give in the mid 90's, for which they deserve most credit (unfortunately, I am not aware of any live recordings). This is not for everybody, you need to be open-minded, and not see the song as murder of the original, from which it is a far departure, regardless. I see Urban Turban as an original, great experiment, and I wish there were more musicians going off mainstream this way. Stay tuned for their version of Voodoo Child...
It seems that biolo-genii are cooler than physics-genii.

True but interesting, vocals are not great but I like the arrangement.
Sounds like Clarence "Frog Man" Henry. (..I ain't got no home.)

Grating.
...fun!..
Ha this is great
Sounds like it could be a Residents cover. odd/funny/creepy not tuning it out, that's for sure, but I can't say I like it. Sort of like a movie I watched last night "City of Lost Children"
wow. great to listen to, ONCE.
I like this, and I think Mr. Cash would too.
I think this is fun. Lighten up folks, no one is trying to take Johnny's place.

Well, okay. But only because it's Halloween.

I'm actually laughing at the wide range of responses to this song. I can certainly understand no one thinking it's "great", but wow is the curve on the low end of ratings. I kinda liked it...

this is a great song. it does not deserve this.
Totally agree!!! This is just crap!!! Sucks, even by Weird Al Yankovich's standards!
This seems like a novelty tune rather than a serious artistic attempt. yuck
My gawd. Some folks around here need to get a sense of humor!
weird-- kinda funny --mostly just weird......
That intro didn't do anything for me, but once the vocals kicked in . . . well, I can't quite say I like it, but it is something different. very different. Almost too different. Almost.
You haters can bite me. This is fun!

Good Try.... Don't Like it!

What song are you listening to? I get the tie-in but that intro was grating.
ok, I just gave Bill a high 5 for the real "I Walk the Line". I take it back.
Ummmmm, no.
Who let the frogs out?
What the hell is this? Sounds like Stephen Hawkins singing (?) a Cash song. I dont get it.
The sacrilege! Ack! (I either love it or hate it -- I'm not sure which, yet...)
Great segue from Cash's "I Walk the Line". I like this guys bass voice! The shawm is a bit much, probably lending reference to their band name.
Wow. This is weird... and yet it works. :D
Voice box guy?
