Standing on the dark canal
By the gasworks
Celebrate the ghost gone by
When all love hurts

And the medicine man here 24/7
You can get it fast in Armageddon
Everyone on the way to heaven
Slowly

Call for prayer is common around here
In the morning
Wash our faces go to work
There is no warning

That it all gets better when life is straight
It's bigger than you and the Welfare State
And we'll keep singing it's not too late
For you

Like to see this done as a Gorillaz tune
I got this on my computer at work when it was the iTunes Freebie Of The Week (Jan '07) and listened to it so much that I "unchecked" it to get it off my RP Favorites rotation. Meanwhile, I upped its rating on RP every time I heard it for a while, then began to decrease its rating. Such is the fate of overheard songs, I suppose; although, I have a few RP Favs that I could hear a thousand times and not tire of, I think.

THAT'S it!  The tinny voice and the immediate synths...  I'm still watching for the demise of MTV (didn't the "M" initially stand for "MUSIC"?) so we can say that radio killed the video star...

ooh ... I'm liking this.  A nice follow up to Moody Blues' Lovely to See You.

Strange....and yet interesting....fresh, progressive?
7 is kind of the minimum anything with Damon Albarn involvement deserves, isn't it?
Well done, hugo. Well said.

Liking this piece. I'm a brit pop, brit prog fan for 35 years. Started with The Nice and went from there.

I highly recommend checking this album out - this isn't the best song on it by any means.  It's a great piece of work.
I've been revisiting a lot of the older Blur stuff (esp. from Modern Life Is Rubbish), having recently seen their fantastic reunion performance at Glastonbury, and have to take my hat off to Damon Albarn - I've never really warmed to the guy but he's been responsible for so many great songs in so many guises over a 20 year career.  Blur, Gorillaz, Mali Music, Good Bad & The Queen - all brilliant at times and never less than interesting.

Naw, not so much with this one for me.
I thought I heard Gorillaz.
Cool by me.

That's often my first reaction to something I end up loving.

Not that bad, not that good, just decent.

same here!!

Whatever it is. . .it sent a chemical reaction through my brain towards my right arm and into the fingers of my hands to turn it up.

Hard to interpret, but I'm not hating it. . .

No, you were right first time, he did a thing with a bunch of musicians from Mali (which, for you Americans, is in West Africa), called simply "Mali Music" and it was sh*t hot.

huh? when did they move mali to africa?
(friggin' pompous limey.)

Mali is Mali to this Yank (damned Yankee no less. . . Moved South and Stayed!), though sadly too many folks on any side of the pond will look blankly at you if you ask then where Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, et al are.
I though I had heard of a different project he had. . . glad to see my memory was sorta right.
I see BillG has many of the tunes here as well. Likely it was hear I saw that which I had forgotten.({edit} I see Ive rated one of the tunes{Le Relax} an "8".)

Sorry, Mom. I'll try and do better next time. (Jeez, I hate it when she gets like that...)

Even better than pretty good.  6->7 and destined to climb higher.

Hey...this is pretty good! {#Yes}

This CD sort of fell under the radar when it came out. Its really good though I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you like Blur. It tends to fall more on the Blur side of things than say Gorillaz...

It's the same guys...
Hmm...three chord trick with repeating tuneless dirge - I thought it was Moby. It's not often that I'm tempted to post a negative comment but this gets a resounding 1.

This song has a tone sequence that sounds like my cell phone's ring tone. I'm constantly fooled into reaching for my phone when it plays. Arg!

Bought this album after first hearing Herculean, which I love. I've given this whole album a good number of listens, at least 15 or so, but find it to be a bit disappointing in the end. A couple good efforts, but overall not that inspiring to me.
I agree. I'm a very great fan of Damon Albarn in everything he does, but with The Good, The Bad & The Queen something is just...missing. The greatness just doesn't shine through. Sad, really.
A good tune from a pretty underwhelming album. Anybody besides me hear Hey Joe?

or simply put Damon Albarn
Many talented people, yet doesn't work as a whole. I found the CD very disappointing.

Plus if you people would look at the top of the page you will see that RP has provided a bunch of links that take you to more information about the band.

You're fun to talk to!
Great atmosphere, lousy vocals.
the cover on this looks one and the same as the cover on the book "1634-The Baltic War" by Eric Flint and David Weber. Though the 1634 cover is s'posed to be Hamburg on fire I believe, though London get a bit worked over in the book

Lovin it. heard them recorded live on an NPR show.. was immediately intrigued. Liking them more and more.
atmospheric, nerdy, yet groovy. Not bad.

Some sort of modern-day clockwork nursery rhyme...
yay
hey this is neat.
