I've been waiting
I've been waiting for this moment all my life
But it's not quite right

And this 'real'
It's impossible, if possible, at whose blind word
So clear but so unheard

I've been waiting
I've been waiting for this silence all night long
It's just a matter of time

To appear sad
With the same old decent lazy eye fixed to rest on you
Aim free but so untrue

Everyone's so intimately rearranged
Everyone's so focused clearly with such shine

Everyone's so intimately prearranged
Everyone's so focused clearly with such shine

Locked and loaded
Still the same old decent lazy eyes fixed through your gaze
That's why I said I relate
I said we really need to fight to relate

It's the room, the sun, and the sky
The room, the sun, and the sky

I've been waiting
I've been waiting for this moment

THIS WAS THE SONG by them that hooked me... What an utterly amazing jam this is! Can't wait to see 'em; just bought tickets: 4/20 at The Boulder Theater!

GOOD TUNE!  RP introduced me to them. Now, I like several of their tunes. That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!
they have the best cover art. love the font, too.

it's probably weird to say, but i'm reminded a little of the smashing pumpkins.
Raised on Metal and Hard rock, I 'adulted' to Alternative.
Jane's Addiction and Aerosmith on the same play-list = Yes.
This Tune Should Convert any Old School "they don't jam now-a-days like they used to..."
God-Like . 10.
GOOD TUNE!!
College school angry rockā€¦lolšŸ˜”
I first heard them on RP in, probably, 2006, right about the first time I'd ever heard of either RP or SSPU. The two will always be linked for me.
This song... the guitars... the build... the release... the recovery....
To paraphrase a line, this one needs to go to 11.
thought it was the pumpkins

Love this song.  IMHO the opening 35 seconds rank among the top 10 best beginnings to a rock song ever.

And here I thought Rock Music was all about being possessed by spirits of various sorts - chemically induced more often than not. Therefore, possessed = Good!

Godlike. 10-Rating from me.

The new song "Panic Switch" is awesome as well. These guys (and gal) are so refreshing. I love em'.

Worst of all, he insists on top billing!

What's that all about?

(Talk about "superiority of your opinion"!)

Pretty good song, but I like their song Kissing Families a lot better.
In the top 3 best modern rock (mainstream) tracks of 2008.

This is disturbing on several levels; mainly, how can any human being claim to know what God "likes"?  I would think that God is "above" petty matters of opinion.

Secondly, you seem to be claiming superiority of your opinion over all the rest of us; because God is on your side.  I would hope that you would take Lincoln's sentiment to heart: you should try to be on God's side; not claim that God is on your side.  Why do you feel the need to bolster your opinion, I wonder?

Thirdly, it's grammatically incorrect: "God and I hate this song" would be the right way to say it.  Unless, God goes in for bad grammar, too.

Just say what you think, and maybe why — please!

Sincerely, Neil

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm pretty sure the "god" he's talking about is the same one Fred Phelps insists hates fags. They're both clearly idiots.

Gotta love a song about a Lazy Eye!

the screaming at the end reminds me of Lindsey Buckingham. I can dig that.

New to me.  Not withstanding the unnecessary screaming, pretty good track!
I have played this song daily along with their Three Seed from same album more than daily for last month since first hearing, am hooked!
I'm not sure how God feels about this tune (or me either (yet) for that matter), but the Rock Band 2 makers must have a boner for it—they keep making me play it during my mystery set gigs!

I was thinking the opposite.  Haven't put this CD on for awhile now, mostly because the tunes on it have lost their shimmer.  In fact, they're starting to sound self-indulgent and boring.  Hmmm...

This is being used in the baseball All Stars commercial. Great song, but they did a somewhat awkward job of using it. Hopefully it will give SP some (hopefully good) publicity.

Not quite as shocking as finding out a guy (Nick Gilder) is singing "Hot Child in the City" but shocking nonetheless.
Why do people scream like that in rock songs? Ruins a nice song.

Agreed! My iTunes purchases have skyrocketed since I started listening but now I have a damn fine music collection. I just hit random and am never unhappy.
Together with Kings of Leon one of THE most exciting bands to emerge in the last few yrs IMHO. I've got this album of course. Have they released another one yet?

as for the vocals, i hear two voices throughout most of the song, either that or there is some harmonizer or octave effect on the vox.

I didn't realize this was a female singing (oops). That is quite cool. Is this a chick or a dude? The Fleetwood Mac comparison is quite appropriate. WHether a dude or a chick the song still gets a 9 from me (up from 8)
I've never understood the confusion over who sings in the band. Yes, the female bassist sings, but only backup. The lead on every track is a guy. Is this voice really that androgynous? Even before I bought the album (thanks to Radio Paradise), I never wondered if it was a female voice. As for the Fleetwood Mac comparisons... have you heard anything else from the album? If anything, they're a continuation of the Smashing Pumpkins (almost down to the initials ... SSPU and SP) I do agree, however. This is an excellent track off an excellent album.
OOPS. Well, I am going to correct my buddy who told me before the show that they were from Vancouver. (Which Edmonton has to live vicariously through sometimes. Thanks for the correction. timc wrote:

This band has a female and a male singer- I like to think of them as an alternate universe Fleetwood Mac

Where can I buy a "Silversun Pickup" I need to shift an old tree in my yard
The band has a female and a male singer. The girl gets most of the lead singing duty though
Amazing that a band this popular and that had a track that appeared on The O.C. is getting a good rating on this station. Yet along comes Dave Matthews a few songs later and it's a 5. For the record, I'm a fan also.
8->9
Is this a different version? Sounds faster and, oh I don't know, tighter-tougher-edgier? Or is that just my mood on this Friday?
So that's really a guy singing then?!
I haven't read one musical snob/elitist comment bashing this song for being too popular. Amazing.

Yeah, I can hear that, but for some reason I have had this CD going for pretty much a month in my car and I never get tired of it. It will be interesting to hear their next offering... there's always the big drop off -- I hope they don't follow that seemingly inevitable trend as they are by far my favorite RP "discovery"! qosforever wrote:

gandalfbmg wrote:
Yeah, but all these bands we heard first on RP get played on FM and they get wider followings and all of us then can no longer have our secret little soceity with the indie bands only we know, and have to mix with the unwashed masses at large concert halls when they come to town instead of the hip little clubs. And the band sells more records and then they have to make their next album 'more comercial' to keep their fans and they're ruined and we have to come on here and complain out how they sold out.
Reminds me of lyrics from Five Iron Frenzy - Handbook for the Sellout: You found a way to draw a line, between the world and you. Faking your idenity it's true. Did you think the word "alternative", was only meant for the likes of you? Do you think that they're too cool now? Being popular is lame. You're the one who made them popular, all their songs are still the same. You found them first, it made you stand apart, you know? But then everyone jumped on the same bandwagon, making you an average Joe, A lemming for the mediocre, you were just a plain old joker status quo. Blame it on the band now. If you prick them do they bleed? What's the point in playing what they want, if you won't let them succed? Do you remember where we all came from? Do you remember what it's all about? When you made a point to be objective, before you started writing Handbook for the Sellout? You sunk your worth in being different, just to be like your own kind. You traded in objectiveness, for the underground you follow blind.
This song is just too damn catchy.
Thank you so much for the introduction...they are my mespace profile band~
Party on, Wayne! Party on, Garth! All hail rock\'n\'roll!
