ok, it's not platinum originality but in a world where almost everything sounds like Cake and Cake is mostly stale well financed overly intentional indy wannabe frat boy crap, i'm giving these guys props for using stellar influences, using them well aND rockin it. i'm giving it an 8 for the resistance. Viva la resistance!! one of you goof ball nay sayers gave Miles Davis a 1?! that speaks volumes

Trying to make any links between this and Miles Davis also speaks volumes.
Gave it a 2 till it got to the refrain, then it went down to 1.  Sucko.

Well put.
Don't think I need to hear this again.  Tho, I do hear a little bit of Violent Femmes . . . maybe I need to be drinking.{#Confused}

I've seen the future, brother: it is plagerism.

"Kevin is a Lada"? "Kelly holds your water"? "And don't you know I'll be your badger"? Weird! Nurse, where are my eardrops?

This one's a tad frenetic, isn't it? The album art reminds me of a wall mural we used to have in our living room that I really liked.

Oh so ya did a stint at the US Camouflage testing grounds aye ?  I heard you can easily walk into the wall thinking it's Griffith Park or a wee bit-of-supper at the detox ward.

A hasty cure indeed  ..and they cleaned eye-shadow off the chandeliers.  .

gee do you think these guys listened to the pixies or Black Francis?
I'm more convinced that they're mostly deaf. It would explain the atonal quality of this song, at least.
Unmodest Mouse. 2
Sounds like, The Violent Femmes

Tapes and tapes of Pixies? Could do worse. IMO, could do better too (not the Pixies, Tapes 'n Tapes). Needs work.
Diggin' it

I'll give it an initial 6 becuase it is somewhat engaging, catchy and a bit of a toe tapper. We'll see where it goes after a few listens.
I felt that way too, but it's really grown on me. It's at an 8 for me.
leonard cohen deserves some royalties from this one.

For some reason I found myself wanting to ride a real fast horse while listening to this song. Does that make any sense?
Would the fast horse take us to the end of this song any faster? If so, I say giddy up!

I can only assume that this song is about what it's like to be the punk kids who hang out in the well at Harvard Square. Or at least, it's what I know imagine their lives are like.
The lyrics tell me someone is defending and clinging to his dead adict lover. Think the author is mixing his/her badgers and beavers, but whatever...

Could have sworn that this was the Violent Femmes
Maybe it's a spinoff group of the lead singer? Cause that bridge part sure sounded like him.

Nice fast beat...
the beat is rockabilly-ish

Manic. Weird. Frenetic. Indecipherable. Nonsensical. Oh wait, we're supposed to be talking about this SONG? Sorry. Kind of cool, I'm diggin' it. c.
I'll be your badger badger badger badger badger badger...mushroom mushroom! Try singing it along with 'em. Really.
I hear what sounds like a weird Kinks outtake that's just recently seen the light of day.

Great new challengin' song

Weird thing is that under analysis, I find the lyrics don't move me...in fact sometimes I just don't get it: "I will be your badger"? Anyway, here's the weird part: Every time the song comes on I have a sensation like "Oh, cool! It's that song again." And then I realize what song it is, and I'm disappointed that I have to sit through it. Maybe the folks below who called it catchy are on to something. I sort of like the song even though I really don't, if that makes any sense.
Reminds me a bit of Modest Mouse (a good thing)
Catchy and odd. Approved.
Just doesn't do it for me. Great cover though!
I'll give it an initial 6 becuase it is somewhat engaging, catchy and a bit of a toe tapper. We'll see where it goes after a few listens.

absolutely! i think i like it.
I bought this album by some local boys based on the highest critical praise. It just doesn't engage me, though.

what did they say about harvard square?
And when you rush I'll call your name Like Harvard Square holds all inane And don't you know I'll be your badger And don't be terse and don't be shy Just hug my lips and say good lies And know that I will be your bail bond I've read that I'm not the only one who finds their lyrics indecipherable . . . Pitchfork, I think . . . or was it some blog? Doesn't bother me (much) in this particular case.

No comments on this? Another killer song of 2006.
