See me driving down the street
I'm bored with looking good
I got both hands off the wheel
The cops are coming

I'm listening to the music with no fear
You can hear it too if you're sincere

'Cause I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
Well I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
'Cause I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
Well I'm a punk rocker, yes I am

I see you stagger in the street
And you can't stay on your feet
And you're faking in your sleep
You wish that you were deep

But you can't hear me laughing to myself
If you could, you would be someone else

'Cause I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
Well I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
'Cause I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
Well I'm a punk rocker, yes I am

See me die on Bleecker Street
I'm bored with being god
See me sneering in my car
I'm driving to my star

I'm listening to the music with no fear
You can hear it too if you're sincere

'Cause I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
Well I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
'Cause I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
Well I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
'Cause I'm a punk rocker, yes I am
Well I'm a punk rocker, yes I am

Well, at 69 years of age, not really Iggy, not really. Punk Pensioner more like!

And like all old farts he married a young woman to mask the fear of his death! I wonder sometimes how these young women can stand such an sagging wrinkly old body!

I saw him with a bare chest in TV recently, geez I thought put a shirt on Iggy I do not want to see this.

But I think money can make this more bearable. Close your eyes and think of Green!{#Money-mouth}
One of the best things on RP!

Unfortunately, irony is not an adequate replacement for quality.

Yes, he was the Vorta in the episode where the Dominion kidnaps Moogie and Quark, Rom, and some Ferengi go to rescue her/negotiate her release ("The Magnificent Ferengi").
Yes, this one works well.bdblinux wrote:

I get the whole 'bear in a teddy' thing, but did anyone else think this: Soft Machine/Strict Machine... Just a random thought...
My IQ drops 10 points everytime I hear this.
Gosh and sorry, but this is not good. Allegedly fun, but simply grating to me. And yes, I have seen Iggy Pop (in Kyoto), so this is not a comment from someone who dislikes a performer already and uses this as a basis for criticizing a particular piece. Really, this is pedestrian.
good tune
This is a first time song. One that sounds good the first time you hear it. Everytime after that you catch yourself in the same chorus wondering why I'm singing this song.
This song makes me think of my best friend Mandie. She's a punk rocker, yes she is.
The more I hear this the more I like it.

At the strangest times of day, in the most incongruous situations, I will find myself singing this song.
Different for Iggy, but still a great little song. Sounds like somebody I've heard before, but I can't remember who.....

No refuting Iggy being a punkrocker, but he does not really sound up to it in this track.
That was fun.
Doesn't do it for me.

I keep hearing "I'm a FuddRucker, Yes I AM" My ears: Too damned much rock and writhe
For all the pop garbage this song is, Iggy still delivers the goods and makes it worth listening to. 7
There's another really cool song on this CD that I heard on KCRW's "Morning Comes Eclectic". "Yours to Keep". I uploaded it. It didn't even make it to review status. Rats. One should check it out.
I don't know - I happened to be listening to "Gimme Danger" on the way to work this morning and then heard this - seems pretty lame when compared. Still love Iggy, though.

And Iggy can sing recipes for butterscotch cookies and make it sound like punk rock.
Brilliantly 100% correct , and that's a good thing.
is that guitar riff a Stereophonics sample, or just coincidence?
Of course this isn't any kind of punk rock, but that makes it, um, ironic an' stuff. And Iggy can sing recipes for butterscotch cookies and make it sound like punk rock. So: enjoyable after all.

Thankfully, Iggy brought lots of changes in the verses. And much more so than the band's female lead singer, Iggy hits this one out of the ballpark.
...and that's coming from an Iggy fan.
Shoot it now, put it out of its misery.
Got to love it! Go IGGY!

"59-year-old rock dinosaur"? Huh? Dinosaur? Hardly: Bob Dylan - 65 Neil Young - 62 Mick Jagger - 63 Bruce Springsteen - 57 Lou Reed - 65 Pete Townsend - 62 Link Wray (R.I.P) - gigged into his 70's Bo Diddley - still gigging at 78 B.B. King - over 80 and still workin' You get the idea. Calling these guys 'dinosaurs' is likely to earn you an ass-whippin'. Seems rock either kills you early or keeps you young! c.

Apologies to all who like this song: I can notnotnotnotnotnot stand it... Repetive, monotonous and annoying.
What's a pondrocker? {checks web site} Ahhh, it's punkrocker! It makes more sense now.
David Bowie's influence on Iggy is clear. They are old friends; in fact, DB saved IP's career.
These teddy bears are quite likable.
F yeah p.s. "i'm a punkrocker yes I am" repeated 500 times doth not a punkrocker make Iggy is/was punk and if anyone can sing it.. it would be him. google "iggy punk rock" and learn
Love this song! As silly as it may be, I got hooked on it by that darn Cadillac commercial. rock on!

Is it even possible to look at a band name such as "Torgny Melins" and NOT read it backward, thinking you'll discover that it's some kind of backward thing joke? p.s. "i'm a punkrocker yes I am" repeated 500 times doth not a punkrocker make.
No...see...it's a bear...wearing, um...a teddy. It's the cleverness that got me. I think Iggy should be singing that he has a lust for Caddies.

The whole time I was listening to this, I was wondering where I'd heard this song before. Something wasn't right, though... the version I remember had different words. I just couldn't place it, though! It turns out Thomas Rusiak remade this song - as "Hiphopper," which as you might guess has a slightly different take. It was on the soundtrack for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which is where I'd heard the melody before.
