First went wrong is hard to find,
We're paralyzed, we apologize; our hell is a good life.
Last went wrong but where's my prize, under the lights?
Can we call it in? We'll be on the road.
Can we stop? When we stop,
My back will turn your face towards the fence.
What I thought it was it isn't now
What I thought it was it isn't now

All this weight is honest worse.
We're moderate; we modernize 'til our hell is a good life.
All we know is to forget how to do right,
Colouring in the black hole. Can we stop?
When we stop my hands will shake,
My eyes will burn, my throat will ache,
Watching you turn from me towards your friends.

What I thought it was it isn't now
What I thought it was it isn't
Punishment to stall what is done.
What I thought was in this is missing out.
What I thought it was it isn't now

There's a pattern in the system,
There's a bullet in the gun.
That's why I tried to save you, but it can't be done.
It can't be done.

Hmm, your link didn't seem to work.
It's a great, if slightly creepy video, and the song has really grown on me. Try this:

Beautiful little video with Emily Haines: "Hitting Reset"

is the piano reminiscent of sufjan stevens perhaps?
this song makes feel like eating long strands of pasta with my fingers,
dancing in falling rain
being on an empty street at night.....

Isn't she from Broken Social Scene?
Nice. Wasn't this group on a Paste sampler a while back?
From Toronto, you say?
One of my favourite songs right now: The chorus is SO sexy, with its driving beat and yearning vocal style.

No matter which song, her voice just makes me shiver all over. Emily Haines and Neko Case are the best female voices in music today.
Even if she is the female equivalent of Ben Gibbard. (Just popped into my head)
Nice minimalist sound, but it gets a little old by the end of the CD.

Apparently this one strikes a chord with the international community judging by the comments made so far. Well I refuse to budge. You won't get me to like this song and you won't get me to like soccer either.
Uh, dude? I seriously hope you replied to the wrong song... Either that or you're crazy... Aside from that... 7 for me.
Nice sound, and I like the minimalist album cover - must have saved them a packet not having to pay for some arty cover design.
haven'r heard anything from this band before. nice melody, great voice...

Yes, Haines is the lead singer of Metric, a member of Broken Social Scene, and occasionally (rarely, I think) sings for Stars. Also, this song and the whole album are really great.

Was that dust on the needle?
Ok, I'm not going to compare her to Tori Amos or Regina Spector. ;) This girl seems to be able to handle a piano and sing personal songs without freaking people out or fall in love with her own emotions too much.
she just popped my Who Quadrophenia bubble and crashed me back to Earth, 6ft. under. Bummer.
This is the third track from this disc I have heard on RP, and I like them all. I might have to pick this up. :)
Is this the singer for Stars or Broken Social Scene? *takes a trip to Wikipedia* ... Oh, both.
I just love Haines' lyrics and voicing. Great melodies that sit nicely in these groovy little pieces on her solo album.

Just recieved this CD from Amazon today. Can't wait to get into my car and listen to the whole album. Had I not heard Emily Haines on Radio Paradise, I may never have heard her elsewhere. Thanks RP for introducing me to new artists!
Not enough voice to go with all that piano.
When it the first part she sings "apologize", I hear echoes of Elliot Smith.

OK I'll be first. I like this. I'd like to hear more. I just read an article about her and I was curious. Good timing B&R
This is pretty cool at first listen.
