it's. oh. so quiet
it'a oh. so still
you're all alone
and so peaceful until...

you fall in love
zing boom
the sky up above
zing boom
is caving in
wow bam
you've never been so nuts about a guy
you wanna laugh you wanna cry
you cross your heart and hope to die

'til it's over and then
it's nice and quiet
but soon again
starts another big riot

you blow a fuse
zing boom
the devil cuts loose
zing boom
so what's the use
wow bam
of falling in love

it's. oh. so quiet
it's. oh. so still
you're all alone
and so peaceful until...

you ring the bell
bim bam
you shout and you yell
hi ho ho
you broke the spell
gee. this is swell you almost have a fit
this guy is "gorge" and i got hit
there's no mistake this is it

'til it's over and then
it's nice and quiet
but soon again
starts another big riot

you blow a fuse
zing boom
the devil cuts loose
zing boom
so what's the use
wow bam
of falling in love

the sky caves in
the devil cuts loose
you blow blow blow blow blow your fuse
when you've fallen in love

ssshhhhhh...

You get Bjork or your don't.

The Video that goes with this is one of the best I've ever seen.

A true artist.

I don't get Bjork even on the best of days.  And this is definitely not one of those.
google the video if you've never seen it.
HOLY COW!!!!!!!!
So many really good Bjork songs - and we have to hear THIS ONE?!  Come on Bill!
years ago I thought this song is so enervating. and really appreciated it when it was over and the following track "enjoy" on her album "post" started...

today I liked it, it's a real fun song with listening kids around...all the "shhh!" and screaming...the orchestral parts...the quiet and loud segments...it's such a silly song...which we really enjoyed today at lunch! :o)
Originality is under appreciated by the lesser mind.

This song sounds like it escaped from a broadway musical. To all the people who really hated it, lighten up. Every once in a while it 's nice to have something really silly pop out and say boo! We need our weirdoes to keep us smiling at least occasionally. It could have been worse. It could have been a political ad. Remember, this is an eclectic station!

Ditto bh1 she is an amazing artiste' an allrounder ..PS my post code is bh1 ??
This song is just a mess.
O        M          G            lol!
She might consider her own advice.

Step away from thr "ratpack" - this just doesn't work for me.
This could be pretty cool if Bjork showed a little more discipline.
5 for the horns.
Minus-1 for Bjork.
Son just asked me to hit the PISSED button (PSD)
"Oh So Quiet?  But it sounds like noise!  I can't work with this on.  She has good songs I think you should play the good stuff.

I never know if I like it, just because it's so different, if it is just bad.
Thank you for the PSD button!!!!  I'm saved!
I love this, but I'm really waiting for the duet with Tony Bennett. :-)
Oh that Bjork would be oh so quiet!

There's always the PSD button, which is the only cure for this.
PSD! PSD!!!!!!

I do not like Bjork's music at all.

Thats a pretty noisy world,,I think I would need a shitload of motrin to survive there.
G.A.R.B.A.G.E!
Probably fun to hear/see performed live, but as a recording... oh, so intolerable.
An eclectic choice.
It got my attention at least.  {#Lol}  but 3 points is enough............
Ouch. I think I just heard Ella say, 'wtf?'
Yes, there is—thank GOD! We need millions more Bjorks shaking up the good little girl personas of the world.

The morning selection was GREAT until this travesty.  it's the worst!
Clearly she was in a drunken manic phase!
Ordinarily I like her, but this is truly a WTF number. It's reminiscent of a showtune.
I had to turn it up to confirm that it's as bad as it sounded.

Certainly makes me want to punch something.
Love this song, makes me giggle and then dance. Great horns!{#Dance}
I have nothing positive to say so I will say nothing.
sucks,,,just sucks.
I LOVE this Icelandic pixie! What fun she would be in bed—or anywhere else, for that matter.
i love this!
"It's oh so quiet - shhh, shhh" - rather reminds me of visiting the Theatre of DreamsTM (aka Old Trafford, home of the International football franchise Man Utd) with 2000 other Watford fans for a league match some years back, when the local crowd were so quiet (perhaps munching their prawn sandwiches), all 40000 of them, that you could hear a pin drop. We outsung them the whole match despite losing comprehensively.

That was a niche post for UK footie fans - apologies to those outside that group. We now return you to your normal sucks/blows/rocks comments :o)
This interview pretty much says all that there is to know about Bjork.  It isn't all personal biographical data or anything, but if you listen to her responses, than you will have an idea of exactly how strange Bjork is.

Agreed. And it's common knowledge in Iceland that her mother was nuts too.
I have to admit, a guilty pleasure.
Ouch. {#Razz}
I kind of like Bjork, but she is one weird chick who is hard to listen to!
koo koo bananas —— AHHHHHH, Scream, whisper, bellow.
Nice horns, all the same.
There's something wrong with that girl.
Wow - sad to see the negativity on here. Totally love this song - always makes me smile and want to punch the sky.

Big band + Bjork - what's not to love {#Heartkiss}

Give me a break.  This really sucks.

Agreed. I really dislike this one.

I can think of a word that starts with "Sshhh" to describe this song.
Horrible, horrible song. Why create a song that sounds like, and will be used as the soundtrack to commercials for large retail stores at Christmas?
that was hard on the ears
Really - her screaming is part of the musicality of the song - are you KIDDING ME?!!!
Tourette's syndrome set to music.

Definitely not my cup of tea. Pass on this one.
Really fun song!
Oh gawd, nooooooooo!!!!
Has the ghost of ol' blue eyes taken hold of Bjork?
Perhaps she should take this songs advice!{#Roflol}
ONLY here on RP....   Thanks Bill and Rebecca (I think.... still not sure... and not sure I want to hear it again....  but definitely eclectic)

Bjork, really?
The trim on her blouse reminds me of those old "airmail" envelopes.
Please stop screaming.
ohhhh nooo please this no !!! pleaseeeeeeeeee
She should change her name to Blech.

wtf

No! Really! This is a great song about how calm life is in between relationships....and then what havoc relationships wreak when they take your "quiet life" by surprise! The video is hilarious too!
wtf
Love Bjork!
Somehow, the concept of "swank" just doesn't go well with "Bjork."
I think I understand what she is going for... but no. Just, no.

i second that emotion
She's got a cool voice. I wish she would just sing.
What a great song & performance.
Love this.  Once in awhile at least.  The later parts of Post are really interesting after this track...
Gawd I loathe this song.
She is such an odd swan.
more like an installation at the Museum of Modern Art than entertainment ...  Sucks but you're not supposed to say it does.
...this reminds me of something from dancer in the dark...
heinous

Couldn't they have recorded this when she wasn't suffering a bout of Tourette's?

LOL. No kidding. I mean it was good when she was in her up stage but when depression set in it sucked. Very bipolar.

Please stop yelling at me!
Couldn't they have recorded this when she wasn't suffering a bout of Tourette's?
This one always cracks me up, too.  Bjork does have some kinda creative range, eh?
A comment for UK footie fans only:

"It's oh so quiet" - reminds me of visiting the Theatre of Dreams (TM), aka Old Trafford, home of Merchandising Utd - sorry, Manchester United, where the 50000 crowd was quieter than mice, and the 2000 Watford fans, of whom I was one, outsung them all through the match. If not for our noise, you could have heard a pin drop (or, rather, a prawn sandwich being eaten).

I see what she's trying to do... but... sorry, FAIL.

Great memories of driving around Chicago listening to this on Q101. Every weeknight they would play two songs against each other and have people call in to say which one they liked the best. This one took all comers for almost two weeks, as I recall.

Wow, that takes me back.

This is the first song of Bjork's that I had ever heard and I loved it.  I really can't say why, it was completely different from anything I had ever heard before.  Likely that is the reason I loved it so much.

Oh man this is goddamned annoying...
shhhhh!! shhhhh!!!
FUN!

And the video makes it even better.
This just cracks me up.
I am not a Bjork fan, nor do I like "Musical" type music, but this is kind of cool.  It's different enough to push the bindi buttons.
This song is Shh...  Sh..... Sh......it...... It made me laugh though, so I don't know how to rate it. Only Bjork could "Shhhh" so loud that it hurts my ears.  That takes some kind of talent.

Starts out great, but wow, that screaming is like dental drills to the brain.
I like it. Once in awhile.

She's just messing around, having fun. It's Bjork, it's supposed to be over-the-top.
I'm not sure i could hear this again
Kinda Sorta really dig the Sugarcubes, but this is indescribeably bad.
I can't help it - I just love this song!  It makes me laugh until I can't breathe.  Bjork is just too over-the-top for words.

Woah, that's bad.
Nice pronunciation of the name Mr. Bill!
Love this song. This song should defiitely be played on Radio Paradise.
wow I must be on drugs or something I could have sworn I heard this on RP a couple of weeks ago LOL
