What's the difference from a Saturday night
Where the light spreads dark around the drunk hearts
In their headless hallways where bodies are
put on the market place
To happiness endlessly taking pills
With the young going down
I see nothing or nowhere
I know what I've found
Must be in paradise

Next year we will live in the country
With our money, by day the sky builds
Doing our laundry and renting us some random machines
Getting our religion and sex on the TV
Assumptions made simply to get away
Everyone old is already with me
On tiny decks enjoying midsummer weather and friendly company
And in their picture frames there you and I will be
Knowing what we've found

Enough to get away
Knowing what we've found
Enough to get away
Knowing what we've found
Enough to get away
Knowing what we've found
Enough to get away

Bright drops of blood so my thoughts are
I turn to lie down but sleep stays far
I'm just an echo of the song going through my head
The light behides the ghost
But I'm the one that's dead
And I think of who you be
When you're here with me
Maybe it's a spiritual disease
Sliding through shoots of oblivion into infinity
Back into our maker's hands
No more rain or controversy
Knowing what we've found

Enough to get away
Knowing what we've found
Enough to get away
Knowing what we've found
Enough to get away
Knowing what we've found
Enough to get away

While very good, this isn't even among Joseph Arthur's best tunes or albums.  I can't imagine giving anythnig he does less than a 7.  He's one of the few modern artists whose albums are consistently interesting and don't have any throw-away tracks.  I think it's the mark of those artists who have more good ideas than they release so they effectively self-edit instead of releasing sub-standard filler.

Buy the album "Redemption's Son" and be amazed!

Sorry, Pavaratti wasnt available that night. Youre trying too hard dude. 9 thumbs up.

There was a young man from Japan
Whose limericks never would scan.
When they asked him why
He gave this reply:
It's because I always try to put as many syllables in the last line as I possibly can.
i thought that was great..

I must have heard this a zillion times here but tonight is the first time I thought, hang on, this guy is GOOD!

Color me dense.
There's something about this one that I'm not really diggin'. Haven't figured out what it is yet.
I wuv this song. {#Hearteyes} The chorus sounds like sesame street muppet singing, ugh I LOVE IT.

Is his "singing" always this sloppy or is it intentional? Marginal effort at best.

Joseph Arthur is sort of the Prince of indie-rock. He's an enormously talented guy who can seemingly do anything (write, sing, produce, play all his own instruments), has his own studio and label, does all his own artwork, and is prolific as hell. And, like Prince, he very rarely records anything that reflects that level of brilliant independence. But when he does, it's breathtaking. This song isn't one of the breathtaking ones, but it's decent enough.

{#Roflol} I guess he doesn't need to - obviously he don't do shit.

Man, I dig the bass.

Not doin' it for me.  Random mumbling.  4

'Even Though'  is a pretty good song by him.

It's like someone handed him a lyrics sheet, and just said, "here, sing these words in whatever cadence and tune you'd like, we'll add in the music around you later as best we can."
Designer looking stubble, and shades, must be a cool dude

September Baby can hit you right. With that chorus of summer is over and I don't owe you anything. Also that song he sings about the Mexican army, damned if I remember the name.

This is his latest stuff. I have all of his CDs, this one's my least favorite.

Yep, Belle and Sebastian. I hear it loud and clear. I don't mind it, though; sounds nice.

Enough to Get Away is the most "pop-ish" song on this cd. Try Black Lexus, Electric Storm or Slide Away for a different slant.

Hey, I'm liking this little set so far. Yeah, this tune is cool.

Get ready to hear a lot from Joseph Arthur. This guy has 'it'. He reminds me a lot of Pete Yorn, who I love. Great choice to the playlist!
I like him a lot too. Recently purchased all of his CDs and I can't get enough. Hope he comes to Columbus some day.

Donovan's Mellow Yellow?
okay, this is a totally obscure observation, but those background vocals are reminding me of the background vocals at the trailing end of The Bewlay Brothers by David Bowie...not that there's anything wrong with that.
