The Beatles canon needed this treatment like the Sistine Chapel needs a do-over. That said, I will make the Vegas pilgrimage and experience first hand what promises to be a wow at worst and most likely a revelation. Good to have the boys back in the conscious mainstream.

Fellini once said that he believed this, about music and musicians; Music is fluid, and it is an invisible stream that runs throughout a defined area in space, in fact right before your very eyes. We, the everyday lovers of Music, can hear it in pieces, and know that it is there, but we cannot see it, change it, direct it, or organize it. It remains flowing and the musician sticks his hand out and with a digit drags a piece of the flow towards him. This then runs in a spiral around the musician and becomes a song. When he touches and directs the flow then we can hear it completely. This is what differentiates a musician from the rest of us. This song, by arguably 4 of the best around regardless, is as good as any of their songs in original format jacked-up whatever.....slow down, listen & get over the negativity....they were next to God.
Wow. Very nice.
24 one votes. Now that has to be one of the most interesting things I have seen lately. What a strange world we live in.

I have to agree with you. The albums they created were cohesive jems. Just about all of their songs were outstanding. But when they created their albums there was a creative synergy.
For a while, I thought my media player was accidentally receiving two audio feeds. This is stupid.
These all are not good. And just because Mr. Martin may have "rights" as the producer to do this, doesn't mean should. (he shouldn't have) He's only trying to make some more money. There's nothing soulful or artistic in these.

Even John was growing away from the Beatles legacy: in his Playboy interview just before his death he misidentified this song as ''Green Onion.'' Remember what he sang: ''I don't believe in Elvis, I don't believe in Zimmerman, I don't believe in Beatles.''
Good golly, this album is getting a lot of play on RP. I have virtually no place in my heart for the Beatles, so I'm not as upset as some people seem to be about the remixes...I'm just getting sick of hearing them every two hours.
Three cuts from "Love" in a row. Rock it on!!
I also like the perspective and newly mashed tracks on Love.
Ugh, it's like a 'best of' for people who don't want to take the time to really enjoy the music. "Quick, lets just do the famous toe-tapping lines." Please, shelve this crap.
I like the Mr Kite and Tomorrow Never Knows segments best. On the whole I find Love a really cool way to get another perspective on some old favorites.

Seconded.
the impression was nice at the beginning when this record sorted out but now.... I have to admit that all this fading disturbing me... so, nothing compares to the original ones!
I prefer the originals. Please put 'Love' back on the shelf.

I dunno...it's easy to slam but my take on Love is that, at worst, it's interesting. Most of the tracks go together pretty well and a few of them are basically just straight remixes - in those cases (IMHO) the songs sound better than the originals. I don't know if it's the chance to go back to the masters with modern technology or the fact that the other Beatle CDs we have were mastered with 1980s technology but it's a great sounding album. And (IMHO) one that any "true blue" Beatle fan can have in their collection with no shame whatsoever. TJ

I would say that, if anyone has a right to mess with the recordings other than the remaining Beatles, it would be the original producer. It took me a while to enjoy the Anthologies, but there are some good historical cuts on there that vary quite a bit from canon (i.e. the album release).
Perhaps someone thought an improvement, or at least an acceptable variation could be produced. However, somehow they only succeded in distorting the essence of the compositions. Gotta give 'em credit for psychic nads. It would take exceptional talent, but I don't consider the Beatles sacred or untouchable, just hard to beat. I have heard some rare few succeed. On my second listen I heard less. Going down.

Pretty much anything by The Beatles is great, but this Broadway-ified mashup/remix crap makes me wanna puke. EDIT: This is very disingenuous to list these as actual Beatles songs with the original titles. This next song should say "The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby/Julia (as remixed by a committee of peculiar Broadway F-heads that secretly hate the Beatles, including George Martin)"
LOL. I guess I like the remix well enough, but that doesn't make AphidA's comment untrue! Frankly, it always seemed to me that George Martin thought he *was* the Beatles. :^)
Nice Mix!
Now I want Neil Innes to do a huge Rutles remix.
Now I want Boards of Canada to do a huge Beatles remix.
I really like this new CD! I bought it this weekend having heard a few tunes on RP and man I wasn't let down! It's so much fun and just feels like you are rehearing the songs for the first time!

I rather doubt it. Having literally "grown up" with the beatles, I find this to be as innovative & progressive (maybe not 'visionary') as, oh, say, "RUBBER SOUL", The WHITE ALBUM, "ABBEY ROAD", "SGT. PEPPERS...", "MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR"; I hope that is enought for the PIN-HEADS to GET THE POINT. Much of their music was maligned by critics, parents, fans (due to radical departures from what they were USED TO/STUCK ON hearing. Art is not about being stuck-in-a-rut. Afterr the Moppet-days ('62-'64, or there-about) a lot of early teeny-bop/bubble-gum fans hated the directions they took. Said they were done, etc..... critics (main-streamers) proclaimed their demise as well. Guess the Lads from Liverpool showed 'em WOT4, eh?
Fantastic. I like to think of this album as "John Lennon's "Pychedelic Dream Tape." No doubt he would be on to something else, as he was, but certainly believe he would like this. But, Tomorrow Never Knows. Does it?

What th'...
I think Bill is getting back at us for our slight dis of the Beatles yesterday. ;)
no more remixes please
I've loved these songs my entire life it feels almost like sacrilege to hear them twisted, spun, and morphed for a circus. The juries still out, but trying to keep an open mind.
Verrrry cool. My vote for more remixes!!!! Both on rp and in the world in general. I love the Beatles, but I've heard the originals so many times. Tattooed on the brain. Always an extreme pleasure to hear great music in a new way.
Interesting ratings distribution. But enough with the Beatles please.
Giles Martin, George's son, had a lot to do with it as well. MOJO magazine gave this project a five-star 'instant classic' rating. It will be interesting to see how RP listeners respond in the long run.
What the?!...please stop - John and George are doing 360s
These reworkings of Beatle songs by George Martin for the Cirque de Soleil belong in a circus. I hate them.
