AMAZING song..

my understanding of the song is that it is a parody of a gig on coney island the band played when they were trying to tune a theremin....

see-
https://www.fuzzywuzzy.com/docs/music/penthouse.htm
...the wailing guitar is a parody of the untuned theremin.

acc to rolling stone luna was the best band from the 90s you never heard of.

Agree has a warped record sound to it.

I guess it's fair to say that you are a Lunatic. {#Roflol} In this case that's a good thing!

I think this guitar is very cool.

Me too.

Love Luna.  Anything from Penthouse or Bewitched is fine by me.

Perhaps people just have different tastes. There's no objective definition of "great music", and one person's masterpiece is another's sucko-barfo. Stating the bleeding obvious I know, but plainly some arbiters of taste need the obvious restating.

Unfortunately, the warped guitar lick just distracts my ears from what's otherwise not a bad song. 4 -> 2

Edit: the album title and pic reminds me uncomfortably of Heaven 17's Penthouse and Pavement, a memory I thought firmly exorcised until seeing this cover :(

frankly, half the tracks on this album belong on the main playlist

ah yes, the Sideshow by the Seashore, where I had the dubious distinction of observing one of the last on stage performances by Koko, the Crackhead Clown.

Or maybe it's just you are in a minority and this track is actually not that great. Just a thought.
wonderful part of a nice set 6:23 am - Mosquitos - Xixizinho No Oceano 6:20 am - Luna - Sideshow By the Seashore 6:17 am - Frank Black - Selkie Bride 6:12 am - The Tragically Hip - New Orleans Is Sinking 6:05 am - Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks

AAAAARRRRHGHGHRRHGHRSAAERFGHFHHHGGGRRRR!! It reminds me of, back in the 80s, when my walkman's batteries would be running out and the tape would sound all warped. ...otherwise this is a pretty good song.
don't understand the hate I think this guitar is very cool.

Not sick but annoyed. Not digging the warped sounds of this. Otherwsie a semi-decent song.
Am I the only one to get all dizzy and sick by these slides? Love the song though.
Somebody should tell them that the penthouse is actually the floors above the one with the lights on.
I reminded of the Velvet Underground.
I like the opening.
