Hi there, nice to be with you, glad you could stick around.

And Sam Spoons, rhythm pole
And Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell, bass guitar
And Neil Innes, piano.
Come in Rodney Slater on the saxophone
With Roger Ruskin Spear on tenor sax.
I, Vivian Stanshall, trumpet.
Say hello to big John Wayne, xylophone
And Robert Morley, guitar.
Billy Butlin, spoons.
And looking very relaxed, Adolf Hitler on vibes.
Nice!

With Garner "Ted" Armstrong on vocals.
[Jazzy scat singing]
Lord Snooty and his pals, tap dancing.
In the groove with Harold Wilson, violin
And Franklin McCormack on harmonica.
Over there, Eric Clapton, ukulele.
Hi Eric!
On my left Sir Kenneth Clark, bass sax.
A great honour, sir.
And specially flown in for us, the session's gorilla on vox humana.
Nice to see Incredible Shrinking Man on euphonium.
Drop out with Peter Scott on duck call.
Hearing from you later, Casanova on horn.
Yeah! Digging General de Gaulle on accordion.
Rather wild, General!
Thank you, sir.
Roy Rogers on Trigger.
Tune in Wild Man of Borneo on bongos.
Count Basie Orchestra on triangle.
[CBO:] (Ting!)
Thank you.
Great to hear the Rawlinsons on trombone.
Back from his recent operation, Dan Druff, harp.
And representing the flower people, Quasimodo on bells.
[Q:] Hooray!
Wonderful to hear Brainiac on banjo.
We welcome Val Doonican as himself.
[V:] Hullo there!
Very appealing, Max Jaffa.
Mmm, that's nice, Max!

A great favourite and a wonderf

What a great retro trip ... I was in the dentist chair, getting some work done with their head set on ... this popped on the playlist and wow ... got lost in lyrics, crazy great intrumentals .... thanks for making the dentist a fun experience! ;-)
Over there, Eric Clapton on ukulele...  Classic!
Ahhhh. . . Takes me back to my childhood
Stuff of legend. Makes me wonder about the low rating. Couldn't find one negative comment. Go figure.

OK let's try a few for you:
Neil Innes - member of BDDDB but comedian, song writer does describe everything he can do.
Vivian Stanshall - the bearded one in BDDDB
John Wayne - nuff said
Robert Morley - probably the stout actor but could be the impressario
Billy Butlin - famous for his holiday camps
Adolf - nuff said
Likewise HRH Anne
Liberace - bespangled pianist - US based?
Lord Snooty and his pals - paper cartoon characters that was printed each week, a kids newspaper rather than a comic strip
Harold Wilson - ex  Prime Minister
Ken Clark - I think they mean the MP
Peter Scott - famous ornithologist
I do like the Gen de Gaulle (ex French President)

Roy Rogers - US cowboy? Ask Elton John
Then (?) it gets a bit silly....
J Arthur Rank on Gong ... https://i.ytimg.com/vi/MLAwPol...

Yes.  Up next, Firesign Theatre.
Tubular Bells for the lower classes
And specially flown in for us, the session's gorilla on vox humana. LMAO!
Fun! I think my only gripe with it was that it felt like it was going somewhere, and then it just... didn't. But I appreciate its inclusion into the list this morning.
Thanks for playing this - if there is any doubt RP is the best, hearing Intro and Outro removes that doubt.  Bonzo Dog Band - a truly unique band

Fun stuff; I still have the UK import of "Gorilla" on vinyl somewhere.  "Big Shot" is also a great number on that album.

'Have you got a light, Mac?'
'No, but I've got a dark brown overcoat.'

The immensity of my love for the output of the Bonzos and Viv Stanshall is only equalled by the volume of the whooshing noise they make as they pass over the heads of normal people. It helps if you're as English as tuppence, have a very broad imagination, are over thirty-five, or all three.  Our house is called, 'Rope's End'; I rest my case, m'lud!

Thought sure this was William Shatner...
Does that intro to bass sax remind anybody of David Bowie Blackstar?
Fantastic
Bonzo Dog Band. I should have known.
WHY
Hearing this makes me so indescribably joyful!  {#Bananajam}
Fantastic to hear this again. Probably helps if you British to get some of the jokes.

Like the roaring lion for MGM, an oiled man striking a gong was the image for J. Arthur Rank films.
god this sucks.

Thanks for uploading this. I'd upload "Sir Henry at Rawlinson End" but at 26 minutes it's to long even for RP.

Damn you, you pettifogger. Are you man or mouse! Upload and be damned.

Awesome!  I feel like I'm back in my bedroom at my parents house listening to Dr. Dimento! What a treat.

PS: Album date is '74

Even back in the 60's there weren't enough drugs to make this listenable.
hilarious

Bill!  I haven't heard this in 30 years.  Always, please, more of this

THIS!

Click here for wikipedia entry By the way, it really was Clapton playing the ukulele on the original recording !!

Yes!! Try an upload.
WTF? Bizarro English humor with some 3 stooges mixed in...? Really stretches the boundary of the definition of music per se, but OK, I'll listen -- ONCE! Now -- MAKE IT STOP!
Yay Viv Stanshall (click here)

Wow. I had an open slot for uploading to the LRC and thought I'd give this a try. Imagine my surprise to see that not only is it already on the main playlist, but it's on here *twice* (once as "Bonzo Dog Band" and once as "Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band") and it was just played last week! Can't believe I've never heard it come up!

Roy Rogers on Trigger.

Mmmmmm....dat's nice, Max!
What's with all these terrible ratings? This song is a fun part of history. Reminds me of the outro on Car Talk, but musical. This is a nice addition. Please keep it in the library.
Yay the Bonzos "Great to hear the Rawlinsons on trombone."
Talk about a blast from the past. I haven't heard this for probably 25 years. Got me laughing!

For a bit of entertainment history, these guys used to be regulars on the 1968 British TV show "Do Not Adjust Your Set," which along with "At Last The 1948 Show" were the precursors of Monty Python.
now this is a weird song... but quite likable :)

I was really hoping that one day I would be able to hear this again. Viv Stanshall at his best. Thanks to whoever up-loaded it. And Thanks to Rebecca and Bill for adding it.
count basie orchestra on triangle! i've never heard this before.
Yeah! Really wild general! thank you sir.... and thank you bill.
Did someone mention Hitler on Zyliphone? Pretty funny but had to have been there to get most of them. Thanks for playing it! Eclectic is as eclectic does.
I guess you have to be of a certain age--or at least watch movies from that period--to appreciate "J. Arthur Rank on gong." Cracked me up. Thanks for dredging this one up.

Or worse... The Fugs. The Flying Burrito Brothers. Captain Beefheart.... Zappa...All, frightening, frightening, '60s elements! (Don't worry, I just threw Zappa in there to be provocative :-) -lmic
What a band! "J. Arthur Rank on gong!"
Eminently worth hearing once. Not twice. The Theme from the Exorcist is worth hearing many times.

Yes.
I wasn't even paying attention, until the "Garner Ted Armstrong" shout-out. Pretty funny.
Nice! Only 209 years since the last time I heard this (still have the vinyl LP somewhere...) Proof that if you listen to RP long enough, you will eventually hear every song ever recorded.
Originally known as the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band I believe.
Digging Eric Clapton on ukulele! Great!

Especially the accompanying sound effect! What was that?

Great! HA! A friendly stab at the live music experience. Vamp, vamp, keep vamping. You, in the back, YOU'RE NOT VAMPING! And yes, gotta love that Count Basie showed up to show off his triangle-playing prowess. :P

Kind of funny but I don't really care to hear it again. Steve, the Roy Rogers line cracked me up as well.

That was hilarious! When that reference to Adolph Hitler came in I was like "Hey, wait a minute...". Then they kept on going! Awesome!
BTW: Viv Stanshall (sp?) did the instrument intro voice-over for "Tubular Bells".
Pure genius!
Kind of funny but I don't really care to hear it again. Steve, the Roy Rogers line cracked me up as well.
Oh Yeah!!! "Roy Rogers on Trigger"
SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!
Hilarious!
"Count Basie Orchestra on triangle" "Thank you!"
Wow! A serious flashback!!!!!
Adolph Hitler on Vibes...
SWEET! Next, we'll be hearing Ali Baba's Camel --- A Bonzo Dog Band classic!
