Whatever happened to the sun
It seems to always come
Back when we were young
We'd sing and party all night long
The season don't ever come on time no more
War paints over the years
And anger fills our tears
What happened to the sun

But I know, I know, I know I'm not alone
But I know, I know, I know I'm not alone

Everytime I read the news
I'm always more confused
Tellin' me to choose
But there's only lies to choose from
And how many died today
How many lost their homes or shot a gun
Or a loved one
What happen to our sons

But I know, I know, I know I'm not alone
And I know, I know, I know I'm not alone

I know I'm far away from home but I know I'm not alone
I know I'm far away from home but I know I'm not alone

Why is the volume level for PSD selections so much lower than the main stream?
I just discovered that Michael Franti was the frontman of Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy...  Wow, such a different sound!

See, your mother was right, drugs are bad.
Really awesome live shows....  A San Francisco classic, bringing his soul to the front!  Spearhead is a prophet for our times.  If you can catch him with his documentary (I'm Not Alone) - it's an excellent experience.  He came up to Sebastopol, and it was just him, his bare feet, his acoustic guitar, and the film...  a POWERFUL film, a moving Q/A session with Michael sitting on the stage of the local high school, and then a mind-blowing, heart opening live acoustic solo set.  He's our Marley...
The best combo: happening music that's socially conscious. Tell it like it is, brother, loud and proud!

Love to the Franti-man. Power to the peaceful. You can't have too much Spearhead!

thanks for playing michael......always provocative

This is the theme for Jann Arden's summer show on CBC Radio.  Until this moment I thought they'd used one of her songs. Now with just one week left to go for her show, I know differently.  I hope we'll hear more on the radio from Jann in the future, her show has been very cool.
Going down to TO in November to see him.  I prefer his more angry protest stuff, but if this is as poppy as he gets, I'll take it!

well, if U2 needs a b-side in the near future, then call Michael!

True.

I love this song.  Powerful and a great beat.  I actually have only heard his protest music.  I loved this song but didnt know it was him!!

Actually the more I listen to it, it is more like his other protest music!!
You are not alone!
He is coming to Billings Montana, they think he does just pop songs.
I can't wait for him to sing this, as well the other protest songs.  Ha Ha
Ha Ha.  I will be there to see it.
Hey, he opened for John Mayer this past Saturday night. I must say he was not bad at all. It also helped that he came out and played with Mayer as well....
With or without you...  with or without you...

Or Keith Jarret and co?

Well - clearly that's just pop.

Pop-pop-pop.

Yah, but what's sadder than an old guy trying to be a punk? I don't have a problem with this song.

My daughter likes to use lots of big words in complex sentences in her AP History essays. "The teacher likes it" is her reasoning. Sound enough but I usually give her my own piece of advice- " big words don't always convey big thoughts".

I refrain from rating, because anything played after Vertical Horizon's crap sounds like a 10 to me. I am skewed.

I got in trouble a few years ago at Telluride Bluegrass Festival for yelling "how u feelin' " in the kitchen at 6:00 in the morning after Spearhead's set. It was the first time I had seen them. We were having too much fun.
Fitting for the day after the 4th anniversary of the beginning of the war. Bring 'em home NOW!

It is commercial when you start hearing it on a regular basis on Starbucks XM Channel. Several times a day. But I still like it.

Yeah, this sounds a lot more polished than Spearhead's first album. I would even dare to say 'commercial'. But that doesn't necessarily mean it would be bad at all.

??? There has been a lot of pop music with itelligent lyrics. That's part what makes good pop muisc. Ever Heard of Todd Rundgren? Besides, simple, plain lyrics doesn't mean they are not intelligent. His message here is simple. Why complicate things?

I guess I like Franti more when he's not pushing me around with his lyrics. This is the best thing I've heard from this album.
I always think this is Dave Matthews. And for me, that's not a good thing.
i can't stop listening. also been a fan since disposable heroes, this guy is so smart, he needs to be heard and listen. television is the drug of our nation, the ole u.s.a. franti for president!

Double Amen to that! Just got back a few weekends ago from seeing him two nights in a row...we floated all weekend on the huge aura of love that he brought to the shows! Believe in coexsistence, power to the peaceful!

this song is wonderful.
A tad overplayed. Much less poignant than "Light up ya lighter", but great though.
This is really nice...a 7. It could be an 8 with different vocals.
The words that to me distinguish Franti's message from the same issues tackled by, say, Gorillaz, are in the bridge: I walk to the front I open the gate I see a road there.

Never been a Franti fan but the last couple of songs you've played by him I've liked quite a bit. Still have total trust in RP's playlists
this song is wonderful.
I've been a fan of Franti since "Disposable Heroes..." I saw him play at our fabulous Vancouver Folk Festival (y'all MUST come next summer!) Later that day he walked by me and smiled. Damn he's sexy; I love tall guys and he's like 6'8"!
i love the sentiment. great voice. very sexy.

Franti is right on with these lyrics and gives me goose-bumps and gets me so fired up at the same time. I can't wait to see him again at the Filmore in Denver this October! (two nights!) Check out his tour this fall. Those who haven't seen him perform yet, go. The love present at these gatherings is phenominal! Take a chance, he'll ask "how you feelin'" fo sho!
weak sauce.
What a poor rating for such a great song. Great lyrics and melody. Thanks RP for introducing me to this band.

Entirely unremarkable. Wait. I just did.
I'm sorry, I haven't complained about any other song being played on RP (except for that Natalie Merchant cover of Bowie- that doesn't even count), but I've heard this song each of the last three days I've been listening to RP and it's not the frequency so much as it's just not very good and it's starting to drive me crraaaazeeeeee........ Then again, you did just play like 10 minutes of the Beatles. So I guess we're even.
...the rest of the album is even better! We just saw MF&S at the Britt in southern Oregon, and will see them again before the tour's over. One of the most beautiful souls in rock & roll... I'd be happier if they were playing the title track, or "Light Up Ya Lighter"...
