in memory of a miner
who dragged himself to work
and worked himself to deathworking for someone else
we follow each other around on shaky ground

his life had become to him
worthless in many ways
an expired product off the shelf
working for someone else
we follow each other around on shaky ground

the nature of his work
gave him a minstrel color
twenty hours a day
little time he had for others
we follow each other around on shaky ground

never got to see the world
he got a funeral and this miner's song
there is no right or wrong

now it's down to the wire
facing six feet under
can only wonder and stare
his name was a number

Beautiful acoustic playing ... well layered
{#Angel} ..... is enjoying this, very good for the ears
Everybody in my room hates this song. Of course, I'm the only one in the room. But my point still stands.

I be the holy ghost of big stud Romeo Tuma...  our father was born in Tupelo, Mississippi... everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches loves this song...

This is really good at volume to induce the neighbors to pick up the phone. {#Music}

His hotel account was closed for abusing the rules of the house. Apparently, he was found sitting alone in the middle of a trashed room, naked apart from a pair of desert goggles and a single rubber glove.

Uncle Tupelo - what a great band.  Three punks in the Midwest doing country.  In that 80's/90's punk scene, the thing that was the LEAST COOL thing in the world was country music - so, for a band to go that direction was about THE most "punk" thing to do!  Well played, boys, well played.

I love Uncle Tupelo, but man couldn't they have used a bit more imagination with the album title?

And a fine, insightful comment you make indeed about Uncle Tupelo, honey.

Ditto on all fronts— I need to check it out.

From a really great CD. Probably my favorite  one of their's....

Great acoustic tune by Jay Farrar.

Love this band, and Son Volt. Farrar did an interesting side project called Gob Iron. If you like his other stuff, you'll probably like that, too.

True but he did stake the flag for Norway! So good on him.

Nuttin' mysterious. Just the time period when they were in the studio recording the album.
Really grabbed me.
Wonderful acoustic tune by Farrar.

I luv'd Unca Tupelo back in the day ...and as noted below they spawned an amazing legacy with Wilco and Son Volt in it's wake!

What happened on March 16-22, 1992? All I can remember is working through a St. Patty's day hangover in college. And what is that a picture of on the cover? An ancient camode of some sort?
