These chords are old but we shake hands
'Cause I believe that they're the good guys
We can use all the help we can
So many minor chords outside
I fell in love with the sound
Oh I love to sing along with you
We got tunes we kicked around some
We got a bucket that the tunes go through

Babe we both had dry spells,
hard times in bad lands
I'm a good man
for ya, I'm a good man

Last night there was a horse in the road
I was twisting in the hairpin
My hands held on my mind let go
And back to you my heart went skipping
I found the inside of the road
Thought about the first time that I met you
All those glances that we stole
Sometimes, if you want them then you¹ve got to

Babe we both had dry spells,
hard times in bad lands
I'm a good man
for ya, I'm a good man

They shot a Western south of here
They had him cornered in a canyon
And even his horse had disappeared
They said it got run down by a bad, bad man
You're not a good shot but I¹m worse
And there¹s so much where we ain't been yet
So swing up on this little horse
The only thing we'll hit is sunset

Babe we both had dry spells,
hard times in bad lands
I'm a good man
for ya, I'm a good man

Babe we both had
Babe we both had
Baby we both had
Babe we both had
You and I both had
Babe we both had
Babe we both had

Babe we both had dry spells,
hard times in bad lands
I'm a good man
for ya, I'm a good man

Bloody good job I backscrolled, saved myself from pointing out that the song, and especially the intro, bears an uncannny feel to Deacon Blue's "Dignity".

Bugger.
Silly beeping.  Sounds like our man's hearing aid is turned up too loud.  Someone whistle gently to get the man to turn it down.

You want to be careful with what you play in the car - falling asleep at the wheel is dangerous, and yer man Ritter has a strong soporific effect {#Sleep}

Perhaps, but our man Ritter can also calm the road rage too.{#Meditate}

I do too, especially when I read the name in the "Now Playing" box.  Good song, despite that.

I think your on to something here.........."she's now playing while I'm down here praying, parlaying a run into a straight"
Oh yeah.

Well, I thought that was very nice.
I was expecting Deacon Blue, "A Ship Called Dignity" after that intro.

Anyone?

Bueller?

Josh Ritter is a like a big bowl of plain oatmeal to me.
Once upon a time, I ate large amounts of 3-minute oatmeal and powdered milk. Daily. No sugar but the Iodine taste frequently poked through. If you hold the milk and oatmeal in your mouth long enough, it turns sweet. Pleasant. But I fight this urge to edit the song and produce it differently, like a writer/editor confronted with a piece of writing that is almost there.... but not quite.
This is a 7, would be an 8 without the annoying beeping sounds. They really take me out of the song.

I hadn't thought about Photoshop when I looked at the cover- I thought that's where the Tyrannasuarus Rex bit the horse. But I SHOULD have thought "Photoshop", because that's about the only way to get a T. Rex these days... except for the cloned ones they're making in Costa Rica...
Obviously SOMEBODY doesn't know how to use a basic 8th grade chem lab, take frog DNA and comingle it with T.Rex DNA and then .. ARRRGGGH!
It's mid-morning, I'm fully-caffeinated, and this is putting me straight to sleep
If anyone saw the episode of House that ended with this song at the end I thought it was very fitting. I love that show. I love this song.
good song

Does anyone else hear beeping toward the end?
I think the beeping is a keyboard note that is part of the music. Either that, or the alarm just went off on my geek-watch indicating I spent too much time commenting on this track.

I wonder why somebody photoshopped out the saddle on that horse? Leaves him looking very strange and swaybacked, but worse than swaybacked. Clearly it is an English saddle profile, but strange harness. Girth is way too narrow, and the others straps don't belong.... tres peculiar.

...i think it's time to step back and re-focus.
And the horse went: "Ho Hum Ho Hum"

I do believe the cover art could be making an artistic statement.

Seeing him tonight! Can't wait :)
Pretty likeable.
We love Mr Ritter 'round these parts. There's an interview and, even better, two performances on Amazon's TV show thingie. Ritter does "Wolves" w/his band and "Girl in the War" solo.

Jesus, I just discovered Josh Ritter ala Thin Blue Flame...I cannot get enough! That song is the most powerful, tingly, teary eyed song in ages, just listen to the lyrics. This song is nice too, but I'm currently obsessed, so I'm bias.
Sounds very similar to an Aussie artist...Josh Pyke... awesome rock on!

I love this song. Great lyrics. Just honest. It's one of those take you on a mental journey songs. His video for this song is pretty nice, too. I like the old Western feel to it.

Yea - during the interview, he's in the basement of some Disney building, which was funny. He's got an independenty-wrought, interesting purpose behind his songwriting that he describes - somewhat inspiring, I thought.
I have to agree. This is a great song!
I fell in love with the sound
I'm gonna have to bump this up to a 10 . . . great song.

It's a good thing that horse is missing 1/2 of its torso. Otherwise, that log would surely sink into the water.
Physics student or horse fanatic?

The horse flies must be really bad around that pond
RP has made me a die-hard Josh Ritter fan---i'm looking forward to seeing him live in September.

Anyone who likes this song should check Ritter's site. He's giving his best known songs away for free. Must be pretty confident in his material, performances.

Any relation to John? Oh man, "relation to John". That was awesome. I have to write that down.
Glad to hear something else off this album. Pretty good! Or should I say quite likeable, since that's what I rated it.
not bad
