Every time I hear this it reminds me of my father's brother Bob, (yes, Bob really is my uncle lol). He kinda looks like R.L. on the cover shot (the way he stands and the pot belly) and sounds like something he'd sing.

Every time I hear a song by RLB, the first words that come to my mind are, "this guy is the real deal."  I didn't think that there were any real bluesmen like this after 1970 or so.

If you are truly interested in this culture, check out the documentary "You See Me Laughin' - The Last of the Hill Country Bluesmen" about Burnside and his cohorts. It's an excellent look into a world most people are only dimly aware of. It's a world I grew up in and I appreciated its honest, dry-eyed appraisal.

I think it's on Netflix, and Amazon Prime might have it as well.

I love that this has a blues-meets-hip-hop vibe. RL was born in 1926 (died in 2005). That's crazy. Awesome stuff for a guy who was around during the depression.

REAL blues are an acquired taste, and I LOVE this!  (Mr. Burnside was probably playing guitar before I was born ... and I'm a member of AARP.)

EDIT:  He has an album named "A Ass Pocket of Whisky?"  Got to get that!  Sounds like most folks at the college football games around here ...

This is such a cool album.
Lot's of fun stuff on that disc.
I realize it's essentially all remixes, and released after his death,
But it's terrific and totally worth spending the money on.

Something to keep in mind here is that this album/song is a reworking of RLs work.  Someone below made the comment that it sounded like it was produced by Moby.  It wasn't, but at the same time it's not like the real RL albums.  This isn't to say that it's bad or inferior, just that it's different.  If you like this track, do check out the whole album.  I think it's great.

And, if you dig raw, gritty blues, then definitely check out other RL albums.   Burnside on Burnside, Ass Pocket of Whiskey, &tc.  Echoing below, RL was the real deal.
