Well put, and a very low rent air let out of version of Merchant.
Yep.

Really enjoy this tune.

Solution suggestion: put away the transistor radio :-) save it's batteries for weather alerts
Amen. I have nothing against Beth Orton, don't hear her all that often on RP...and hearing she's being overplayed on commercial radio just makes me grateful I'm not listening to commercial radio!
A friend brought me along to a Beth Orton show at the Fillmore in SF a few years ago... I remained oddly unmoved. This is the first song of hers I've liked at all - and I like it a LOT. 8. -lmic
I just can't get into Beth Orton's music. There's something about her voice that just grates on me - almost like she needs to clear her throat or something. And not having RP in my car forced me to listen to "Concrete Sky" one too many times on commercial FM.

Hmmm... another quarky, catchy tune from Bethy.. unfortunately, already being played to death on the FM broadcasts...

The video for this is quite cute, what with the muppets and all :-)
we posted simultaneously regarding the video. I missed the cute, I guess that was it. I'm afraid to watch it again ... :-)

a recent Paste magazine DVD included a music video from Beth. Muppets meet MTV - esque. My hope was that someone's tongue was firmly in their cheek.

Can't stand Beth's voice, but her tunes can be really nice. Unfortunately, the voice overshadows the rest for me most of the time.

I hope this means we've gotten our quota of Beth out of the way for the day and won't hear anymore. I've tried, but I just don't dig her voice. Her band is pretty good, though.

Wowsers! I disagree completely and wholeheartedly. The arrangement is uniquely Jim O'Roarke. His stamp is all over it. I was not a fan of Beth orton until this album... but I am an O'Roarke junkie, so I'm a little biased. I'm curious how others feel this album compares with Orton's other stuff/O'Roarke's other stuff...
... For me Chunnamark Beth Orton is just amazing all of my time ... Yea, total Orton Junkie Conceived long before Comfort of Strangers ... ...

I always like to hear Beth's voice. But her unusual delivery usually works best when accompanied by interesting instrumentation. The arrangement of this song is a little too conventional and thus relies too heavily upon her voice to make it interesting. So its not really bad, but most of what I know from her is better. I really didn't catch the lyrics though, and they may change my mind completely.

Something about her voice that just works for me. She's coming to a small venue in Salt Lake City in March. Can't wait to hear her live!

Different Beth Orton...I rather like it!
