Would it be maybe.... the horn??

The horn is part of it but the general feel of the song is sort of their style to me.

I totally agree, I loved it! Gave it a 9!{#Notworthy}
Those aren't really Mariachi horns, just trumpets. Nice.
 mariachi horns-nice touch. 9

Who's who?

Ian on top. Liam on bottom.

I don't like the sound of these horns with the boring synch rythym. It's like wearing plaid with polkadots.

Must be something in the Manchester water that produces lookalike rock singers, because yer man looks like a Gallagher brother (from Oasis, that is, not Shameless ;-)). Not a bad track, but as someone's already commented, the synthed instruments sound a bit flat and lifeless.

Yeah, except that Ian was the lead singer of The Stone Roses, which were out about ten years before Oasis. So, if anything, the Gallaghers look like him, not the other way around.

His melodies all sound the same.
{#Exclaim}Great Album, nuff said
i hate to say it.  but i wouldn't turn it off if I heard it on the radio. as my mother says, "Everyone to their own taste as the lady kissed the cow.
Dull

Why do you all think the horns are fake?

Boring...

This album is riddled with fake horns - very annoying. It could have been so much better with the real thing.
Tim Hutton is credited as playing the trumpet and horns on the original album this appeared on, Solarized, as well as guitar and bass, and he also co-wrote this song with Brown. Maybe he's playing a fake trumpet here.

The horns make me think of Calexico. (Edit: which I see are up next on the Playlist. Another excellent seque from Bill )
Now THOSE are trumpets!
...i knew i recognised that velvet lilt from solarized!..
This album is riddled with fake horns - very annoying. It could have been so much better with the real thing.
Well tell us that next time!!! Those details are a lot more interesting than jr. high name-calling. leahmatanky wrote:
na, its alright - he just started a big, ridiculous and un-called for fight on stage at a club here in SF - not cool.

Ya know Leah, if you're going to persist with remarks of such uncommon eloquence, may I suggest an alias. Just trying to help.

Ian Brown is a butt-face.
Can't quite figure out what's going on here. Synthesized vocals, drum machine, the intonation of the whole thing seems a little flat, like the fake trumpets in "The Princess Bride"... Good idea for a song, but poor execution. Ouch.

You sound like you know him!
Ian Brown is a butt-face.
Is this guy using the "Ozzy Osbourne effect" on his voice, or what...?
Yes, highwindows and Dave_Mack, RYA.
i think so, too. i'd like to hear a drum & bugle corp do this song. drekar wrote:
would be so much better if the brass were real *sigh* ah well, still cool.

I thought it sounded real...real bad. The song's OK, but the trumpet tone, if you can call it that, really detracts from the song.
The more I hear of this guy, the more I like.
Is this the original?
RP does it again, he only lives down the road fom me 'n all.

The Greatest? Not so much, IMO.
