Hmmm... hasn't been played in a while.
I'm looking for the .mp3 file as we speak.

Yuh-huh!
is this gilbert o'sullivan?
I kind of agree with a lot of the comments here... but has anyone heard EBTG's version of "Downtown Train"? That one is an example of a cover that sounds very different, and in some ways BETTER than previous versions. Maybe that one can be played on RP?
There are a lot better tunes from this group than this one. Tracy Thorne has a fantastic voice.
too easy. would love to hear some type of pink floyd / electronica style version of this tune... Secret Machines could probably do a wonder like they did for Girl From the North Country....

Nope. "Presumptuous" and "pretentious" are different words. This poster is a mite better at reading: liser wrote:

Yeah, liser, I know, maybe I was going a bit far there. But that's how highly I think of Simon & Garfunkel. And I've been on something of an anti-cover kick of late -- especially covers seeming to aim more at mimicry than reinterpretation.

WHAT?!
Probably taking issue with the assertion that he's presuming to be the only living boy in New York, when it can be shown that is clearly not the case. Or meant to sound sound smart by attempting the put-down "Pretentious," and fell flat on his face. (I pick this one.) MT
Yeah, it's not creative or original, but it's still a nice tune that I don't mind hearing. Although, I suppose if I was to hear the song at all, I'd much rather hear the original as it's much better then this version.
Nice... but basically sounds exactly like the origional Try to modify (without killing) the essence of the song RP has shown so many variations on certain songs... Thanks RP

... I like this take ... ...
Why bother. If you are going to do a remake, do something different. For example, the way that Devo redid "Satisfaction". It sounds like a completely different song, but very cool. Both songs are listenable. This is just plain boring to me. I would rather hear the S&G version.

sounds like a cheap imitation of "The Beautiful South"!

True -- it only makes you want the real thing...

I couldn't agree more.

I don't get this band....is there anything original to EBTG?
i remember seeing this video when i was 8 years old on vacation in italy. it's stuck with me ever since. :)
Play their own (earlier) material instead...
Presumptuous.
JUST had this on this AM. (original) SO weird! 7
Well that was a really nice cover. But then it is a brilliant song.
This is nice, but very little is heard of Tracy Thorn's outstanding voice.

Totally agree...
Not the original, granted, but not a bad effort either.
pure crap! play the damn original!
I love EBTG, always have, and this is a great version of a great song.

That is the original. Simon and Garfunkel's version.
RP plays lots of covers. That's fine, but shouldn't there be a re-interpretation? This sounds lots like the original. What's the point of that? Play S&G for this song.
Boooooo! Give us the original.
