The little creatures
run in from the cold
Back to the nest
just like the days of old
There in the safety
of a mother's arms
The warmth of ages,
far away from harm again.

Ears ringin'
from the battle fire
The tired warrior
aims a little higher
The black falcon
or the little sparrow
The healing light
or the flash of the barrel.

No one wins
It's a war of man,
No one wins
It's a war of man.

Silver mane flyin' in the wind
Down through the planets
on the run again
No one knows where
they're runnin' to
But every kind is comin'
two by two.

Out on the delta
where the hoofbeats pound
The daddy's runnin'
on the frozen ground
Can't smell the poison
as it follows him
Can't see the gas and machines,
it's a war of man.

No one wins
It's a war of man,
No one wins
It's a war of man.

The windows open
and the little girl dreams
The sky's her playground
as she mounts her steed
Across the heavens
to the other side
On wings of magic
does the little girl ride.

The baby creatures
run in from the cold
Back to the nest
just like the days of old
There in the safety
of a mother's arms
The warmth of ages,
far away from harm again.

No one wins
It's a war of man,
No one wins
It's a war of man,
No one wins.

As a huge Neil Young fan im sorry that I have to agree with you. However appart from the odd track I think this was his last stunninglay good album. However I wouldn't be surprised if he has at least one more in him. I certainly hope he has anyway.

With things from nature am I feeling cross dressed? Add some layer.do me wrong, do me wrong.
I'm alone, I can't remember crowded hause song, yet i remember the tincture..
War of man, because they don't like howling wolves. and some are color blind to makeup call action coming  through the waves.
I'd only become a collectionist, so did I.
Love the bass on this one. Excellent overall.

He was ahead of his time with Trans.  A special one for sure.

This tune is one of my favorites in Neil's extraordinarily long catalog.

Ah, more power to ya, Scottish Willie!
Can't say I'm a member of that select group, but Trans is good for a giggle now and then.
When I love his songs, I actually feel them. When I hate his songs, I turn the volume down.

Remember Neil and the Shocking Pinks? "Everybody's Rockin' " was about the same time. Who can forget "Kinda Fonda Wanda"?

When Neil sings like this, he's a half-step away from sounding just like Kermit the Frog. But I love most of his stuff.
Neil Young has on sound and whining tone with Oh-So-Sad lyrics... Enough_! PSD 4 me

Ah, I had noted the similarity over the years but did not know this - thanks for the info!

Agreed!  Thanks for the info elderg.

Usually I can't stand the whining noise of NY for more than 1 say 2 minutes max, in fact, his voice is the main reason I got tired of listening to CSN&Y... But this is a very pleasant exception! Glad to hear this other side.
One of my favorite tracks on this CD. I also got to sing backup vocals with my buddy on this tune when he did an acoustic show at his college. So it has nice memories associated with it.

I just love Neil Young....  This song is so haunting!{#Bounce}

Conflict as a negative-sum game.  Like what we are observing between Israel and Hamas.

Exactly. So sad.
Quietly makes its powerful point.

And in today's context, the message is even sadder. 9.

Everyone has an opinion Can Mick Jagger sing - not Can Bob Dylan still sing - he tries, but far from in tune Can Steven Stills even stay seated - no David Crosby - not Neil can still sing -IMHO
Thanks for sharing that.

If you fartknockers heard Neil's live BBC vid from 1971, wherein he sings "Castles Burning", "Heart of Gold", among others, you might not have that opinion. Of course, his voice has changed a bit over the years.

Not my fave NY album, but I like this song. Thanks, RP.
One of my favorite songs from one of Neil's best albums.

Bene.
I could listen to 10 straight hours of Neil without my ears tiring. His music hits the spot. In fact I'm craving the classic "Cinammon Girl".

I know. I just wish his voice didn't grate on my nerves so much. Edit--I forgot to add that there are a few Neil Young songs I enjoy and this is one of them.
