In my opinion,
I believe Aerosmith's version is too commercial and overplayed.

I appreciate the musical talent that went into producing this!
Loving the guitar work. Here's hoping the vocalists got over the narcolepsy that kept them from performing on this one.
Understatement is a good thing. It lets you imagine the rest. I like this.
Very uninspiring
not kiddig?
Reminds me of the Pickin' on Frampton CD from a few years back.
Nothing sweet about this crapola.
Aerosmith ruined this song. Definitely a 1
"I tell ya ladie, it's crap!!"

Yeah. :sweet: doesn't work. -mt-

Please -- this was entirely forgettable and unnecessary
Gotta love the guitar work - sweet
Sweet emotionless take on a timeless classic. Fun.
A strange mix of great guitarwork and inane lyrics.
I think the vocals are a great tongue-in-cheek twist on the tune. Most likeable to me, esp. compared the the overproduced Aerosmith original.

Love the guitar but man, the singing really kills the song! Sounds like they had a shot of valium or something
Sounds like some of the stuff I record in my basement studio....
COOL! I like this better than the original!
This is TERRIBLE! It sounds like everyone is playing a different tune! This song was bad enough the first time around. This remake doesn't make it any better!!!
true, i wondered if that would be caughthandyrae wrote:

I like this track, but we must be hearing it too much, because I swear that's the third time I've heard Bill say how much he hates the lyric but likes the music.

Second time for me, it is a different spin but the players and the instrumentation is tight...I gave it a six.

Hay i really liked the airosmith version...

This song is lacking the title word EMOTION!
I think that was the goal.
I hated the areosmith version!.. and this sounds like areasmith played at the wrong rpm.
Cool groove but the vocals suck!
I really like the guitar part...
Their lack of gusto is what I like best about this song. A kind of contradtictory version. I think it's okay.
This song is lacking the title word EMOTION!

Ditto!
Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this one yet. They certainly made it their own... which is the point of covers, is it not? For that reason, I kinda dig it.

My buddy always uses the phrase "jockeying for deck seats on the Titanic".
Yawn.............

Call me after I throw Up. This song sucks no matter who does it, including Aerocrap
Not a bad cover from a GOOD guitarist, but it makes me want to hear the original...
Ohh cooool! Very interesting cover of this hot Aerosmith song!
just as good as aerosmith
It sounds like they are bored. This song is devoid of EMOTION.
Not as powerful as the original tune. But the wya they wrote the guitar and bass for this song is wicked!
Outstanding! For me, more enjoyable than the two-dimensional pop tune original. But then again, I like Hayseed Dixie.
I have to say this one is definitely growing on me. In fact, I admit that I rushed to put my headphones on when I saw that it was playing.
RP is on a nice roll this PM.
Why o why?@!
Leo Kottke, guitar grandiose and future addition to my collection. More, please.
Me thinks of Timbuk 3 on this one. When I first saw Timbuk 3 (Pat MacDonald and Barbara K) the third member of the band was cd/player boom box on a stool which played the beat track into a microphone. It was a great show I might add :-).

Brilliantly put. I really enjoy this song, I really enjoy the original too. Listen to it on its own merits.
I like this one. The Aerosmith version is getting rather stale. I put that version in the same category of music that was cool when you were a teenager, but starts wearing thin at some point in college or early adulthood. I saw Steven Tyler at the World Series on TV a few years ago. At first I thought it was Lily Tomlin, until the TV corrected me. My drinking buddies got a good laugh out of that.
its not bad, but I feel like I'm listening to a vaccuum cleaner with a tambourine attached.

Please take me to your planet.
Very pleasant in laid back way...but have we got Kottke's "Louise" on the playlist I wonder - that is special!

It's too bad people can't get past it being an Aerosmith cover, and just listen to the great guitar work.
Agreed!!

Man, I wish we had the kind of radio stations you have there I can barely fill the presets on my car stereo with tolerable stations, and even then I usually stick to CDs.

I'm a big fan of Aerosmith and Leo Kottke but this doesn't do anything for me. Its potential as a cure for insomnia should be investigated by medical authorities.
These guys are brilliant musicians, this is a fun song, but the result feels pretty lifeless.
It's funny how you hear about a person out of the blue, and then you hear about them all the time, but still don't know who they are! This was Leo K. for me recently...... Went to a music store and saw an old LP of him when he was younger. He looked just like a guy I went to high school with, I mean, IDENTICAL! Cool tune.......

Why does this sound like a fusion between rock and bluegrass? I don't see either of the artists on the cover carrying a banjo... (But I don't know guitar - can you make it sound like a banjo??)
Mike Gordon, according to his Wikipedia page, is also an accomplished Banjo player. I have to say, this song rocks! It's further evidence for my recent discovery of how cool Leo Kottke is (thanks, RP!)

Could you not feel that groove, mister? Meh...
Just can't get there. Aerosmith the sell-out band of the century just leaves a foul taste in my mouth. Just can't get there. I'm seeing Steven Tyler doing a soft shoe to that while wearing his bathrobe.
Oh my, they didn't really do this - did they!?!?!? Somebody lost a bet!
I like these guys but this is the worst monotone crap i have ever heard

Sweet cover! Much improved imo.

I like it.
Pretty sweet until the lyrics started; then it became slightly less sweet.
Super cool.
Pretty cool, but I'll take the original any day.
verrryyy interesting :))
well played, indeed. i like it. :)
It is REALLY rare that I like a cover even as well as I liked the original, let alone better. Pretty cool.
Greetings, Very fun -- it makes you hear things all over again, from a fresh start. My upload, btw. Neil
I likey
good stuff, it's nice to see mike doing stuff outside of his normal circle. always like kottke as well.
Wow!
Nice followup to Alison Brown. Of the former Phish members, Mike is doing the most interesting stuff, IMO.
What a surprise! didn't see those first words coming! i like it.
Very interesting and inventive remake. I like!
It works! It works really well! Whodathunk?
Funky banjo ?
Great Tune! Thanks RP!
Wow. Never woulda thunka this one in a kajillion years, but it works.
Entrancing.
Much better than the original version.
What a funky tune!
Granted, I've been hearing it quite a bit on the radio stations around here, but I still like this cover.
great stuff, love the leo Kottke sound
