Well I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
Yes I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my brother standing by
With my brother standing by
I said, "Brother, you know you know
It's a long road we've been walking on
Brother, you know it is you know it is
Such a long road we've been walking on."

And I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my sister standing by
With my sister standing by
I said, "Sister, here is what I know now
Here is what I know now
Goes like this..
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, in your love, in your love."

"But sister you know I'm so weary
And you know, sister
My heart's been broken
Sometimes, sometimes
My mind is too strong to carry on
Too strong to carry on"

"When I am alone
When I've thrown off the weight of this crazy stone
When I've lost all care for the things I own
That's when I miss you, that's when I miss you, that's when I miss you
You who are my home
You who are my home
And here is what I know now
Here is what I know now
Goes like this..
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, in your love, in your love"

Well I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
Yes I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my brother and my sister standing by
With my brother and my sister standing by
With my brother and my sister standing by

This song makes me miss my sister so much.
I lost my precious brother about a year ago. This song had me tearing up. There aren't many songs about sibling love. Why is that? As he sings, the bond is... home. I feel orphaned, alone in the world without my brother. Grateful for this song.

we can´t wait to hear your latest release! you may not be from London but still...

Imagine what an honor and thrill it would be to have Pete Townsend sitting in for a song!   (Great song, BTW...)

Pizza!
Haven posted: “Have decided: Most current "folk" music is simply empty rap without the nasty languge. It's vacant, uninventive and dull.” Have decided. Most trolls don’t really understand music. They are empty, unoriginal, and boring. For anyone who has a sibling, this song is a strong hand in your hand. Deeply soulful and real.
This is a new version of the song. I really like the first one RP played and this one is slightly more elevated. Thanks!

Worthy but a little dull - shout it out man!

Wow, a two word review that describe the track perfectly.

I really love this song, and I'm not a mellow song liker generally

I like Alexi quite a lot ... this tune and especially "All My Days."

Sorry, it seems like he is singing "you are my whore". Time for new earphones

Yes, and Yes! Well stated  kdarwish
Beautiful song
Like the TWC version better than this one. Would love some new stuff from Alexi though.

Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be dancing buck ass naked...  love this song...  love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...
Lusciously languid.

nice...
The last section of this song really hits home for me. Lost my sister when I was 14 n she was 18. Then I lost my brother when I was 22 n he was 23.

Let me tell u it has been a blast...
Such a beautiful voice and song.

Let's not exaggerate (there's some other stuff of his)! Maybe what you meant was 4 chords {#Wink}

Definitely getting a Nick Drake vibe from this one.
Too bad he only knows 4 songs!
It would be nicer if this guy could maybe memorize some additional lyrics.
Wow, so pretty!
heard this once, on RP, downloaded it that night and it's been on the ipod ever since... excellent
Very nice stuff, Bill. Thx.

When this song first started I though, "Hmmm. This is boring," but then it kept going and kept going and... it finally won me over. No that it seems to be winding down, I have decided I quite like it. Maybe I shouldn't listen to music like this on ADD days.
Beautiful, smooth and warm.....8
Worth it -  {#Clap}

This song is soooooooo good for the soul .... {#Meditate}
WOW 10 years of RP.... Nice work Bill!

Lister for now 5 years

Subscriber for 3 years in a row....
Keep up nice work!

Such a pleasant voice, also like "Blue Mind" very much but i think if i had to listen to the complete album i would doze off...

This song in particular: 8

He's getting a lot of mileage out of 2 chords!

Meh.  Completely boring if it weren't so irritating.
"My salvation lies in your love..."

Has he crashed and burnt yet?
A friend first turned me on to this on a mix tape... didn't really care for it then.  But now?  Huh, really like it.  Simple, to the point, and really good!
when is this guy going to put out another album?
First heard this song on the 'World Cafe', so glad RP has picked it up.  I loved it then, I love it now.

Maybe it it just because I could play guitar on it, and I really cannot play anything, but I do like this a lot. Nice simple, great mood.
Lovely.
dull dull dull dull dull zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Just beautiful in it's simplicity. And very well sung, too.

When I heard the intro....I immediately felt myself slip into euphoria. {#Cheesygrin}

Rather long song, just realized it was still playing.
Cool wiki tidbit about this guy: His self-published EP, Four Songs, was released in 2002, becoming the all time No. 1 selling record in CD Baby history. I have a weak spot for Scotland bred music, methinks. = )
I remember hearing this a while back, but had forgotten about it until hearing it just now. Really nice.
"Paging Mr. Cockburn...Mr. Bruce Cockburn..." Good tune. 9.

Mental note to pick up this album. Classy.
Nice transition, Bill. I was about to sign off for now - but nope. Garden State, cool film. Soundtrack was killer.
So simple yet so meaningful.

I saw him at ACL Fest several years ago. It was awesome: about a hundred folks sitting under some big oaks, just him on stage. The only downside was when Robert Earl Keen started his set on one of the big stages: poor Alexi got drowned out. He took it in stride though, and played a great set. c.

If I was in a slow mood I\'d put this one. It\'s definitely too sleepy for me at the moment though.
I particulary use to like this "rollo" songs
What a terrible nighmarish song. Nooooo melody, nooo rythm, f**king foolish lyrics
This from a listener who rated Greg Kihn a 9....
One of those simple songs that doesn't really strike you while it's playing... but then two days later you're humming "doo dee doo, orange sky" and you realize it's stuck in your head for awhile and not going anywhere. His full-length may as well be called "Alexi Murdoch plays tribute to Nick Drake". Any influences you hear here are over-the-top overt on the album.
holy geeze! i could have sworn this was a nick drake track that i had never heard before. i guess that says something for this influences.
Bit slow to my taste.
Kind of a boring song...reminds me of Jack Johnson
A lot of Nick Drake influence here. I like it
This song is so unique & unusual... sorry Stingray is unable to enjoy it. I think it's a great tune.

Dude, you should so seriously be getting paid for this stuff.
Great song, I wish I could have made it to his sold out concert at The Crocodile a couple of weeks ago...oh well I did get to see Bob Schneider.
Wow, I could have sworn this was a cover of a Nick Drake song.

Maybe if the song was in a larger font you could hear the melody or the rhythm.
Stingray! has been angry lately..
Sounds very much like Brooks Williams. That's a good thing.

In a strange coincidence that was among the worst posts I have seen in years. Think happy thoughts there Stingray. You don't have to be angry and abuse us with large fonts. You can be any kind of stingray you want,it's up to you. Imagine being submersed in the Caribbean surf on a calm hide tide morn. Lying still in the warm, gently moving, womblike salt water you look up at the beautiful blue-pink sunrise and think how pleasant life is. (you can look up easily without moving because remember, you are a stingray and your eyes are in the top of your head) Just lie still and relax, floating gently, moving your head slightly to the music. Floating, floating. . . . . . there you go If want to be the Corvette type Stingray that's pretty shallow and materalistic and this won't help. In that case I would suggest you take a Caribbean vacation and go for a walk in the surf. Without sandals. If you want to be a Stingray ship to air missile I hope I didn't piss you off.
fffffffffffff....!!! Yes, yes, yes - you have an issue with your brother and sister and father and....you silly ORANGE SKY! What a terrible nighmarish song. Nooooo melody, nooo rythm, f**king foolish lyrics. If there is anything one can hate in music - that surely this song and other songs like that. Alexi, return your guitar to the mailorder store where you got it from. Do something with you life. Be a roofer, a baker, a shoemaker - but, pleeeease, stop troubling the public with this bullshit you call music. TERRIBLE!!! Among the worst I heard in years! STINGRAY!
I saw Alexi a few years ago, while he was touring on this EP, and he was great (if you like Nick Drake, and all). I don't know where the hell he went for the last few years, but I think he finally released a full-length this year. Have'nt heard it yet, though.
Yoo-hoo are my home. Ha ha!
I think I really like this one. Hmm.
Wake me when it's over....
This tune just jangled it's way up to a 9.
haunting song - it's stuck in my head (which is a good thing so far)
SoundsGoodToMe wrote:

Funny when I heard this song that is exactly what I thought of ... I like this but I dont hear his heart in this tune... not like pink moon
i love this song, but the version on his excellent full length cd " time without consequence" is better.
The musicianship is nice, but the vocalist seems disenchanted with the song. Like after the band wrote the music. This guy came in, made up lyrics on the spot, sang over it and went back to his job as an actuary at a large insurance company.
Because I never watch TV or listen to non-RP radio, I pretty much am completely oblivious to pop culture. As a result, this song loses no points for overexposure; it's fresh every time I hear it and I can enjoy it to its fullest degree. Along the same lines, when I heard Crazy (Gnarls Barkley) for the first time a week or so ago, I thought it was a few decades old until I checked its info. Another excellent song undampened by ubiquitousness.
This song sounds manufactured. He doesn't mean it.
I had a dream I stood beneath a golden shower....but so what?
very nice
So cloying. I particularly like it when he says you-hoo when he means you. He's certainly very very sincere.

I heard this on KGSR several months before the Honda ad. I like this song, but I find it a bummer that it is used as background music for some cheesy TV shows and a commercial. But I don't watch much TV anyway. Nonetheless, I give it a 7.
