This is weird, as, for that matter, is the album cover.

It reminds me of a book, with a CD, called "Songs in the Key of Z." Subtitled "The Curious Universe of Outsider Music" by Irwin Chusid.
Ya know, I get this track. But 5.9 average is just about right.

GREAT TUNE!  It is the first time that I have heard it! that is why we come here.  Thanx RP!
Happy to claim I've seen Zakir Hussain at least 3x in concert. The last time w/Mickey Hart on their 2008 planet drum tour. World's best percussionist, that is ZH. Nobody comes close.

Thought the same thing about this Ganesh with the Peter Sellers (Pink Panther) hat.
But I think the upper left depiction looks more Ernie than Bert to me.
aha!!!

Brilliant. That's something RP does for us, and what joy it is to discover gems like this.

I was going to comment on this but I read the last comment and liked it. Then I realized it was mine from 2 years ago.
That percussive instrument is like a bouncing water. Beautiful.

If you like this (and I surely do), you might also like Celt Islam, a dub artist with some serious middle eastern grooves who uses the tabla extensively. I've been listening to him this morning during longeurs in RPs output (you know, when you get a few Ho-Hums on the roll). His latest EP is onine, as is his work on Soundcloud.

This song is an easy 8 on first listen from the exotically entranced Nottingham jury. I'd love to hear more of this bunch. This is just sooooooooo RP :o)

I surely miss the erudition of Fred...who else uses "longeurs" in conversation?
Q:
What's more excruciating than being boiled alive by Cannibals ?
A:
The music their band plays as you're stewed.

Takes me back to Mickey Hart Diga Rhythms.   I like the musical otherness of the instruments that still vibes the call of civilization, just not ours.
{#Flamed}
Anybody else hear in this a sample used by Iggy Azalea in We In This B**ch?
I am often not a fan of the fusion cuisine that Bill dishes up. But this is tasty.

Already rated this an 8, I see. I think I have to bump it up to a nine, and go download the album.

Tabla by Talvin Singh. The man is a genius. His playing is really something to behold when seen and heard live. The range of sounds and complex rhythms the man can produce seem impossible, even when you are watching him. Spellbinding.

this tune makes me ITCH to be at one of my kits... {#Lol} {#Drummer}
More cowbell...I mean bongos!!!

and now for something completely different, but with the same name: palmistry by great lake swimmers. please?

Tabla playing is always breathtaking . . . I saw quite a few masters last 30 years. Every single one managed to surprise me. Both musically and technically.

As do I.  Thank you BillG.

Sounds like failing coffehouse music.

Tedious.

So she'd be Sanjay's daughter? Does she have a name? I think Sanjay has a son (toddler), named Jamshed, pulled a shotgun on Jimbo, Dolph and Kearney while they were shoplifting... and on topic, great tune.

This is Indian music. A modern version of Ravi Shanker I would think. Though the original was the best. (click here)

No fan. Rewinding RealPlayer to Billie Holiday.
This reminds me of the game "Endorfun". Please tell me someone else out there had the game and loved it, too.
Sorry, but count me among the surface-listeners. The popiest Britney Spears song was never so repetitive.
Wow. It may seem repetitive on the surface, but the Indian classical drumming is amazingly complex and intricate. Love it.

I understand the continuity, but a bit of a letdown after Joe Strummer's Bhindi Bhagee.

Now play Within You and Without You by The Beatles.
This is really boring. Please don't play anything else off this disc. One is quite enough to be eclectic.

It's just one big repetiton, which was probably sequenced electronically, which means the musicians (if you can call them that) didn't do anything. Though, at 2:30AM, I'm really tired and either I'm numb or the music is making me numb.
