Hmm, wondering why I never heard such a well-produced CD so I googled:

"Atlantic Records declined to release Ellie Lawson's debut album, The Philosophy Tree. Shortly after being dropped by Atlantic, Lawson picked up the pieces and got herself an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' successful daytime talk show. Following that appearance, Barnes & Noble came to the rescue, arranging an exclusive release of the album through its retail stores, and in August 2005 Philosophy Tree finally appeared. And it's weird that Atlantic passed, because Lawson's debut is a dead ringer for Unwritten, the debut of similarly blonde, similarly British Natasha Bedingfield that blew up the U.K. charts."

How many girls who were say 12 to 16 in 1995 when Jagged Little Pill came out. I'm surprised there aren't more daughters of Morrisette considering the ubiquity of that record.

  Holy, this has been around for almost three years? I second your take on this tune. Funny how people get so pre-occupied trying to compare styles/singers/writers, etc. Every artist is influenced to some extent by those who have come before. So what? You either like the song - or you don't. Spare us the comparisons.
By the way, Bill's playing "They Might Be Giants" at the moment. They sound a lot like ... crap.

This time I was sure, sure I tell you, that this was Alanis' alter ego, so I went to AllMusic to see if she was. Amazingly, Alanis isn't even listed under "similar artists". I was stunned. Anyway, she's a different (blond) person for sure. Actually, I like her better than Alanis. So there.
