And technically, balafons are awesome.
Very smooth segue from Billy Idol Flesh for Fantasy to this.
this couple are AWESOME...saw them at WOMAD a couple of years ago, if you haven't heard of this it is a World Of Music and Dance festival.

A perfect little song.
I frequently run into this problem here- the music is so consistently wonderful that I don't want to go and run my errands.                  (Because, obviously, dancing >errands.)

I think there may be a good reason why there aren't more xylophones in popular music

It's the opening theme for one of my fevorite radio shows. Nice to descover the artist

I like these folks.  Very sweet.
the poetry and verve at the song's opening get me in a slippery-bop dance-mood  : )
Trop grave mignon.
This is just a FUN tune
This song is too short.

I purchased massive digital buckets of their music after seeing them live at Lollapalooza.

Talk about a massive non-stop, air-tight Malinese groove fest.

The piece you really get to appreciate when you see them live is Amadou's MASTERY COMMAND & CONTROL of his golden guitar - he can play that thing like ringing a bell.
I started buying this group's music on vinyl because of Radio Paradise. Thank you for sharing so many of their great songs. It's really hard to get through bands with large discographies and I really wan to own "the good stuff" first :)

Or if blind people go out in public dressed in ridiculous ways (say, wearing a duck costume), is it politically incorrect to mention it to them?

Not sure what your point is other than smack down Papernapkin.

If you remarked to them that they were wearing a duck costume, IMHO that is cool - to tell them that they are wearing something ridiculous would not be politically incorrect but boorish and arrogant - capice?
btw - having seen quite a few of PaperNapkins comments, he is a walking request for smackdowns.

Your knowledge of Eastern/African/South American instruments is impressive. Did you play in a Gamelan between military gigs?

Last album (produced by Damon Albarn is great too!)
My GF spent time in Senegal, Ethiopia, Mauritania and Tanzania, she brought back tons of African music including Amadou & Mariam. I love this album and the cover never fails to make me smile.

More African music on RP, please!

For those interested, check out the show "Bonjour Africa" on WNCU.org at 4 pm Eastern, US.

Thank you so much for the link!  Every time I hear one of their songs on RP, I'm curious about them, but never followed through to research their story.  Outstanding music from an out of the ordinary couple!

{#Clap} - very funny - where the coloured are really coloured and the whites are really white

a tune that would be easy to dislike
this combination working fine -   7.

What have they done to your mind?

OK, we're all victims. In spite of having migrated to the mountains of central Mexico decades ago, I still have commercial jingles from the sixties stuck in my neurons ("Soaky soaks you clean, in oceans full of fun, scrubblety bubblety, flippity flubbity, clean before you're done...").
really nice thanks bill

That's one kick ass album cover......yeah!
Apropos of nothing in particular, or maybe the general mood of this piece, RP needs some Cesarea Evora. Got any, Bill?

OK Everyone! Double check to be sure that your sunglasses are polarized (catchy tune but man that album cover has some "rays" on it).
I can't decide if the album cover is supposed to be kitchy or not... looks like a laundry soap box... but it makes me smile.

It's pretty good, it must be the extra Manu Chao
I mean, really, how can anyone not like this little song? Short, jazzy, full of life, Mali in a bottle perhaps. Eclectic radio at its best.
Beautiful

No, heard it way too often in the past weeks, and I sisn't like it too much in the first place.
Sounds like Mali had a relatively successful democratic election, although the final results are not tallied. Not bad for a large nation with over 15 significant languages and a major nomadic subpopulation that is one of the poorest in the world.

Fun little groove.
I tried to get it ... and ... nope.
Cool little groove...me and my 2 1/2 year old bop around the kitchen to this regularly. Sweet.
An RP comment on one of their other songs said that the cover looked like they were selling orange juice! How hilarious!

I love how short this song is; they must REALLY wind it up live.
Happy little song; keep 'em coming!
Can' find a -10!
