This sounds like part of the soundtrack from Fletch or Fletch Lives but those movies were made in the mid 80's.  Great groove! 8 maybe 9 soon...

Totally agree. I saw them in '97 in New Orleans, when I lived there. Such a great show. I bought a CD off them and when I played it at home I told my girlfriend that there's no way this is the same band we just saw...

Saw these guys when I lived in NOLA back in '97. Tehy mostly looked like a bunch of kids on stage, but they were really great. I bought their CD and was excited to be able to hear their stuff at home, but when the CD played the whole thing sounded like it was recorded through a pillow case. None of the bite that hearing them live had. I was disappointed.

Caught these guys at the Top Hat in Missoula a couple years back! What a show! Brass, Stanton Moore on the drum kit, Maggie belting out the vocals...WOW! Look for them. Such fun! And dress lightly as you gonna sweat!

A truly monumental groove... I have always thought it reminded me of something I'd heard and jammed to long ago but not lately... Tonight, hearing it loud enough from the other room to hear it from a new acoustic, I realized: it is exceedingly reminiscent of The Charlatans' "Feel Flows" from their '94 album Up To Our Hips, right down to the irresistibly funky Hammond twists near the end!

So happy to hear some Galactic on RP! Coolin' Off is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all-time. I would love to hear some of those old tunes on RP, like Funky Bird, Stax Jam or Church.

Saw these guys in Boston last week - they were great. The Soul Rebels opened and joined Galactic for a few tunes - a major horn-fest. Definitely a fun party band - they had the House of Blues packed and dancing...

No, it's not "completely ripped off".  It sounds very similar and is obviously influenced by that tune and many others of that era, but it is a very different riff; you may want to look up the definition of the word "completely".  This kind of a groove is an homage to that era of music - they're even mimicking the keyboard and fuzz sounds of that time.  They're not trying to deceive anyone - especially not the astute music detectives here.

Wow... that was a really jarring transition from Break out my Gun to this. The cross fade didn't line up right or somehting. Sorry Bill, I normaly love the way things go together, but that really grabbed my attention in a not so good way.
