Haven't seen you in quite a while
I was down the hold just passing time
Last time we met was a low-lit room
We were as close together as a bride and groom
We ate the food, we drank the wine
Everybody having a good time
Except you
You were talking about the end of the world

I took the money
I spiked your drink
You miss too much these days if you stop to think
You lead me on with those innocent eyes
You know I love the element of surprise
In the garden, I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You, you were acting
Like it was the end of the world

Love, love, love
Love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love
Love, love, love

(Love, love, love)
In my dream I was drowning my sorrows
But my sorrows, they learned to swim
(Love, love, love)
Surrounding me, going down on me
Spilling over the brim
Waves of regret and waves of joy
I reached out for the one I tried to destroy
You, you said you'd wait
Till the end of the world

i think it might be my 2nd fav U2 song of all. i like this version, as well.
Second U2 song in less than an hour? Someone needs to hit shuffle a little harder.

I just came in to see who it was singing "Until The End Of The World." Thought it might be Billy Idol... I saw U2 around 2010 and they were quite good but it got me thinking about how much of their sound is added in post-production. I will likely only listen to "Joshua Tree" or earlier-- the stuff I have on vinyl.
they dropped it down a key to accommodate his voice? haven't heard the album in awhile but it seemed higher...

This is exactly how I feel. No more U2 for me too.

U2 has become the world's greatest U2 cover band.
This was one of the most memorable high-energy songs of the concert Kevin and I saw during their Elevation Tour just weeks after 9-11. Mind-blowingly good!
If you ever get a chance to see the movie Until the End of the World that this track is from, take it. It's a pretty amazing globe trotting sci-fi adventure epic. The incredible sound track had Lou Reed, Neneh Cherry, Nick cave, the Talking Heads and Elvis Costello among others.  Unfortunately the movie was not released to video in the US so it never really made it to netflix etc. Totally worth watching or at the very least listening to the soundtrack.
When he sings "Love, love, love . . .," the reverb/echo makes it sound like he is saying, "Blah, blah, blah . . ." Kinda ruins it for me.
U2 Haters hate this band like it was dog poo and chewing gum stuck to one's shoe. Like sand in the crotch of a wet bathing suit. Makes me smile.
This live version hurts. They ruined their own great song. His voice is so thin, weak and stretched, it's pathetic. They should have called it a day. Like 20 years ago.
Cant get anymore "GodLike" then a great Rock song about "A Day In The Life Of Jesus"  - Holy Thursday.
I love that they made a romantic brotherhood song about Jesus and Judas...

Please, Bill.  Can't you control this?

For me, one a day is excessive, but I'll tolerate it.  More than one U2 track a day just seems . . . tortuous.

The only thing worse than a U2 song is a live U2 song. At least in the studio they can edit the music so that it's not quite so obvious what lousy musicians they really are.

Ouch. Someone took their grumpy pills.

This is actually a good version. Nice going, Bill!

U2 sound like such posers when played right after Dead Can Dance.
if we could stay 32 forever!

Love the version of this that they played at the R&R Hall of Fame induction:

Beware Bono haters, you get him talking at the beginning.  You've been warned but you probably won't subject yourself to this anyway.  It's a fine performance.

Rejuvenated the song for me.  I love it again!
Loves me some live U2!
Banal and contrived.
I just want to take this moment to cry like a baby about how much I hate Bono and how the PSD button is the only way I could have made it through this moment in time.
Bono is a god damn (deleted by censor)!!!!!!!!
Bono is too bono.

You're welcome!  It's from Alternative NRG: Greenpeace Compilation, which also has a great version of Annie Lennox's "Cold" and other worthwhile cuts.

Thanks for the reply, tomcool. It's been added to the list.

Love this song live, but I can honestly say I like bootlegs better.  There's a certain sound you hear at the show that's missing, but if you were to combine this with a good audience recording (assuming one exists), it'd sound like it does live.  For my money, this song peaked in 2001.

You got some cool people in your van!  We be dancing here...  this live version is marvelous...

Great tune, both studio and live version.
Does the screaming crowd enhance the track or distract us? But the band is red hot.

Everybody in my church loves this song...

Yes, definitely brings back the whole trip of seeing them do it, from the 6th row; THERE'S NOTHING QUITE LIKE A U2 SHOW, HELL YEAH!

Finally!  My upload.  Yes, it's Rock and Roll!

Btw, where is this from? (And thanks again - great contribution to the RP library!)
great live version, but the upfront screaming women are stellarly annoying. why can't they just rock out and dance and maybe...sing along? I'll never get this "screaming-through-a-complete-concert" thing. why don't they scream down their stereo and stay...at home?

Thanks tomcool!!!
Sure they are a little commercial nowadays and Bono can be a real tool, but I gotta give him his props. Live he has some serious chops no doubt!
somehow I KNEW it would be U2 after Archive - MAGIC :D

I LOVE this live version!!! It's always so cool to hear this at their concert, and see Edge gettin' down on that riff. {#Guitarist}

THAT riff could be used to repel an ALIEN FLEET... {#Lol}
7 -> 8!
perfect song...

Her quote was more descriptive than Bono's:

"I tried to drown my sorrows, but the bastards learned how to swim, and now I am overwhelmed by this decent and good feeling."

Great movie, great title track.  Definitively.
Great movie, wish I could say the same of the title track.

The soundtrack of this movie is so much full of win though!
Bitchin'!!! {#Dancingbanana_2}
{#Guitarist} Hell. Yes.
Not a particularly good version of this song.  Bono sounds as unenthused in this track as I am of his band.

I'll bite....
What's the story?

When it comes to this song, I'm a purist — please give me the original or soundtrack version any day.  This live version sucks....   {#Snooty}
They are dragging this song...Bono-bo sounds like he's about to fall asleep. (I normally like these guys.){#Think}
Not a huge fan of U2 per se, but I have loved this song long and hard - so it's really nice to hear a different version.
Love this song, and the album that the original came from

Srsly. I was just listening to The Edge's overtones and thinking: "how does he do that?"

Makes me wish I'd seen them before they (and I..) got old.

{#Bounce}
I know the guy that came up with the band name U 2.

Oh Orpheus, lighten up.  You haven't benefited from how Mac/iPods have changed the music world?  What did you think Bono and the band were?  The second coming?  No wonder you're disillusioned ...

bono bono bono, (or should I be saying Steve Jobs' multi-faceted ho), now you're whoring yourself, the band, and the "U2 concert experience" out for blackberries. Have you no shame whatsoever? Don't you already have more money than god without having to prostitute yourself and the band by hawking ipods and fucking blackberries? Guess since your latest musical excursion didn't do as well on the charts, etc. (since it's mediocre at best), you feel that you have to make up the freakin' difference by being a commercial spokesman for all things MacIntosh? God what a fool I was to have loved everything about you in the 80's and what you at least at the time, seemed to stand for back then, (ie integrity, etc.). I guess you were just having us all on, or did fame, money and excess totally corrupt everything about you that was worth saving? {#Skull}

I really hope he's singing " blah blah blah blah" that's what I usually hear when listening to U2
Awesome version!  Hadn't heard this before.

Thanksssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Jesus and Judas at the last super
Brings back great memories of the shows I saw on this tour. What a blast!{#Bananajam}
got enough of U2. let's face the truth, they are not that great.

Great version of the song....

I've only heard the studio version for the movie soundtrack...

I agree, much better than the studio version. Guitar intro is quite rockin'.
