I go walking down there, I go searching down there,
There's nothing left for you and me.
I go walking down there, I go searching down there,
But nobody there remembers me.

It dosen't matter now to me cause I lost my baby.
Nothing means that much to me without my baby anyway.

Oh. Oh. Oh.Oh Look at all you lucky people, think of all the things you do.
Look at all you happy people, wish I could be like you. Oh.Oh.Oh.Oh.Oh.Oh

I go walking down there, I go searching down there,
There's nothing left for you and me.
I go walking down there, I go searching down there,
There's nothing left for you and me.

Oh. Oh. Oh.Oh Look at all you lucky people, look of all the things you do.
Look at all you happy people, wish I could be like you.
Look at all your smileing faces, think of all the things you've done.
Look at all you happy people, and I've lost my only one.
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh.

Always wondered the same exact thing.
It would be nice to hear this followed by "Fools in Love" by Joe Jackson.

You can often tell a male comment from a female comment by which side their shirt's buttons are on.

Unless you're a hermit, don't tell me you've never lost your baby, she went away, woe was you, what were you gonna do, and were so blue.

Yes, been blue, lost my baby, she went away, blah blah.  But if I was writing songs and music, I'd get my head out of my ego ass and write about the world outside my head. I'd certainly mix up the delivery of the message. Every Issak song, at least those I've heard on RP and elsewhere, is the same crap about his bruised and busted heart.  Larger social concerns? Some humor? Her point of view? Another topic? I can name 100 or more great music acts who were ready willing able to move out of their zone. Why should I listen to him? He's an auto PSD on this laptop.

Chris Isaak's Blue Tunes really fit the mood better than many others when things go south and sour with the gal you gave your heart to...
This one is a real chiller. Chris creates a really creepy character here.
This song really shows off the hard rocker side of Chris Isaak, and that is a great thing.  Amazing album all the way through.  I may be a complete prog rock music snob who only likes to talk about Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree, but I will tell you this; Chris Isaak has way more talent that he gets credit for.

I'm with you on this. I find Chris Isaak the most annoying artist on RP by far nowadays. He is easily the number one reason that I switch off RP and listen to something else. And because he seems to pop up with incredible (and annoying) regularity I now find myself turning RP off way more often than I would otherwise. It's something about his nasal vocal sound employing excessive vibrato and the fact that although he emotes heavily it just doesn't sound like he cares about what he is singing about. IMHV, and YMMV.

Fantastic voice. Fantastic swing on that hi-hat!! Love this song so much!

Funny KCAR, and somebody has to be I guess.  Who can think of another lovelorn SOB?  Great song by the way.

Forget anything you think or have heard about Issak.

Instead - go see him in concert!

A year later, and five plays. But it's cool, I dig this tune.
Even pretty boys experience heart-breaking life-shaking sadness, as do pretty girls.  I relate to this song.

Man, that's some jaded remark. If this were "airplay" you'd be getting six a DAY...

Probably my favorite Chris Isaak song - a lot to like, with the heavy reverb, the galloping bassline, his emotive voice....good stuff, not lost in melancholy like I find a lot of his stuff to be.

He does plenty of other songs but it would seem that (with the exception of Santa Claus is Coming to Town, feat. Stevie Nicks) only the heartbreak songs make it to the charts.

"...look at all you happy people!..."
Yes, indeed. How do you think THIS kid feels about all you happy people!

Love it's Memphis Rootsiness, sort of Carl Perkins meets The Byrds.

Enough with the warbling... I used to like him, too. Things must have shifted for me, because now I find his sound and messages more annoying than ever.

I love how Chris consistently brings it with the best of what Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley were all about...and that is a very cool thing indeed.
His live shows are entertainment at its finest, too.  He has a great on-stage sense of humor and gets instant audience rapport, and wow, that voice, that timing, that heart-felt twang he puts into those classic lovelorn lyrics that grab the hearts and ears of so many, every time...
I saw Chris Isaak perform live in San Francisco on New Year's Eve 1993/1994, and while he put on a good show, I always had a grudge against him for not playing "San Francisco Days" that night, even though "Wicked Games" had released that same year. Then I saw him perform for my second time at "The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival" (my favorite music festival each year) last month in Golden Gate Park in SF and he blew me and the rest of the crowd away. It felt like what it would have been like seeing Elvis Presley perform live today, if he had lived and still performed like he did in his two great years from 1956-1958, before he went off into the Army and returned to make mediocre Hollywood films and perform in Las Vegas like a shadow of his former self.

Good song, great album.
Great song! 7 -> 8. Although I am mad at him for getting plastic surgery, he looked better before and somehow takes away from his coolness that he would do that.{#Snooty}

Actually, I was stuck on the throne while listening to this song and I thought to myself, "Chris Isaak has got to be the most lovelorn sonofabitch in show business." Yes, songs about losing at love are the bread and butter of songwriters, but Isaak wallows in the pain with his singing style. You'd think his vital organs were being dissolved in the confines of a four-minute pop song.

I can't recall hearing a song of his that wasn't about romantic heartbreak. I'm sure he writes about stuff besides love, but those songs don't seem to get played.

Opening guitar reminded me of the "The Outlaws."

Definitely agree with you about broadening musical horizons with RP.

Chris Isaak? I've heard too many heartbreak-warble songs from him. Yes, many of them are beautiful but I'd like to hear another style from him.

Yes - LIVE he's really-really good!
Even though the drummer can't play,
and his ex-guitarist badly missing!

Often, as in this case, I start up RP after work and the next thing I know several of my top-rated songs play. I can see Bill (or perhaps his minion) going "tap," "tap," "tap" on his keyboard and seeing that I am logged on and haven't contributed yet this month, so he programs a few of my favs to inspire me. Anyway, it sure seems like that!

He puts on a really good live show.
