*Looks around wildly for NPR..*
lovley- magical
Listening to this makes me think I'll switch to Crystal Radio for a while. At least  until my headache's gone!🐨
love this man's output, always puts me in a positive mood
Four Tet must be a pseudonym for B.J. Leiderman.
Holy cow ! I just thought, I should turn on NPR and this came one. I was very confused.
Now that Tom Ashbrook is GONE! LOL!

Franky, I couldn't stand the guy, always interrupting expert-speaker guests with his inane and really dumb questions. I was always thinking, "Dude. Don't you do any research whatsoever?" WBUR/ NPR's "On Point" is so much better now without him.

I like groovy tunes.
I always expect this to turn into something ....but it never does HAHA!
Everything IS alright, now that Tom Ashbrook is here.

Too bad the Connection and On Point don't both go away. Actually I have listened to both so that I know what the Dems talking points are. The On Point host give a big "Uh huh" every time a guest or caller makes a point that follows the party line. And that Jack Beady — has anyone ever figured out who he is? He is always introduced as "and here is our own Jack Beady" and asked to weigh in on the topic and counter whatever slightly conservative argument might have been poised. Why aren't we told who Jack is and where he is from? He is brought forward as some sort of expert, and yet his credentials are never mentioned! I guess this is one of those forever unsolved mysteries.

Oh, what an interesting comment from my "12 year ago self"! I'm glad I wasn't a time traveler back then to see how the media has devolved since then! In this day of fake news, white nationalists and antifa, Tom Ashbrook is looking more centrist by the day. I still listen to his show almost daily, and he still gives me insight to how the old school leftists think. I still hear Christopher Lydon every once in awhile on Boston NPR radio, but he definitely sounds like a relic from the 60s. On Point is still very relevant though.

I did a double-take to make sure my computer hadn't just switched to NPR and On Point! {#Stupid}
Why did On Point just come on?

     If you miss somerset house,
       It's out in the distance,
Strange, how I long for a  fair distance

That's how I feel!! I was confused and thought RP was going to play an NPR show!  Whew...DearDM wrote:

I love Nirvana and Kurt Cobain but he's the meat puppet pushing up daisies. This song rocks.
Always wondered who this was. NPR. Thanks Bill
love the acoustic guitar and fat beat in bas-relief

Laughing at the totally understandable NPR comments...
Makes me uncomfortable to hear this without Tom cutting in.

"This is a Meat Puppets song... "

Hey who put on NPR?
YEAH MAN. Everything is f*&cking ALRIGHT. {#Daisy}

marvelous...

Tom Ashbrook has come to haunt me on RP. Eeew!
Tom Ashbrook? That was unnerving. Can you follow this with that Ry Cooder tune from The World?
Couldn't figure out how iTunes had jumped from RP into a podcast. Then I realized it hadn't. Really weird to hear this in the different context.
Can't hear this for the music, waiting for the radio show to start.

Wow.... downloaded this from Napster YEARS ago....

Never heard it here before...

Awesome
Sweet groove. I dig.

Heh, this the theme for On Point.  Wondered how this song developed, kind of repeats the innervating sequence, but not bad.

I knew I knew it from somewhere!

I like - though for a second I thought this was NPR - the local station uses this song as it's program theme.

Actually it's a nationwide call-in show called "The Story" and I always wondered where this track came from. Great show too.
Dubstep?

Love this track! Great to hear Four Tet getting some airplay. The whole 'Pause' album is fantastic - highly recommend it to all people interested in quirky electronica.
I second this- the album is well worth buying.

And if you get a chance to see him live (because the stage show I saw was just him- standing on stage with two laptops), do go- utterly amazing music.

Too busy.  All the different pieces seem to be just barely not quite in sync... 5 for effort.
This is boring{#Sleep}
i think jel anticon used this for one of his songs.

Yeah! I expect to hear Tom Ashbrook's voice. He's back as of 1/02/2008 from his surgery. We missed him. (They played the Four Tet riff in his absence, though.)

Ha.  Thought it was a pledge drive!

I agree, it doesn't. Kept waiting. A few nice notes.

Folktronica....interesting term. I really like Four Tet, who else can you recommend?

I like Múm and Tunng. Wikipedia also mentions Juana Molina and Beth Orton in their article about folktronica; I wouldn't think of them as folktronica, but I like them, too.

Thank you for playing this!

The show you're thinking of is On Point. I'm not sure if it's a WBUR produced show, but it is on the air here in Boston.
Ahh, thought it sounded familiar. I've occasionally heard RP music used as outros on WBUR.
Ahhhhh! Someone put NPR in my RP? /threw me a little. I like the show its from and I like RP, so its not bad.
this always sounds like two overlapping songs

is this really a single song?, it sounds like the drum track from another song overlayed.

Nice transition from Crowded House to this. Bill gets it right again. And again.

After my rant, I decided to google Jack. Jack Beatty is the senior editor at Atlantic Monthly, and formerly of the New Republic. I guess I feel better, now knowing where he comes from. Why not say that on air once in awhile?
Why should he? I mean, mainstream media is totally funded and filled with conservatives, but they aren't required to show their pedigree all the time. In fact, they are presented as the "middle" heh.

The Connection!

True! That was weird - suddenly I'm listening to NPR again during my daily musical interlude. adi wrote:

Interesting. I recognize this well. NPR uses this tune to intro its program "Fresh Air" ... uh, I mean On Point.
This is the opening theme music for https://www.onpointradio.org/
"all right" is two words, dammit! I know, so is "damn it."
