"Marginal" by some definitions can mean "close to the lower limit of qualification, acceptability, or function" or "of questionable or minimal quality", which is probably why the word is used for a "2" rating.

If 2 meant "marginally good", wouldn't it be labeled "marginally good"?  In context, "marginally listenable" seems more likely.  

If you weren't "Just sayin", what would you be doing instead?

This time, hearing the lines "nothing but cats and rocking chairs" and "moonlight flickers on the water below" reminds me of playing it from my MacBook on the balcony of my beachfront bungalow at Ngapali Beach, Burma, where there was no Internet, no TV, and nothing but the simple pleasures. A pile of shrimp was a dollar, a whole lobster, three. The sand was white, the coconuts, free. The Bay of Bengal shusshed and hissed its endless mantra, and Life was an Easy Plateau...

I wonder about this myself.  I like or love almost every song played on RP.  Occasionally I will hear song I don't particularly like.  Maybe I will turn down the volume, or switch music sources, but I never feel the need to express my dislike to anyone else.  I don't understand why someone would bother with the negative energy.

BTW, good to hear a little RA on RP.

Great to see this back in rotation. Can we have some more Ryan Adams.

Ok he can be a bit patchy but 90% of his output is very good. Always like his instrumentation especially with the Cardinals and playing with Neal Casal.

The whole album is terrific. I know he gets, and maybe earns, a lot of crapola 'cos he's a tad arrogant about his talent—so we shouldn't like his music? That's sorta like saying you shouldn't like Jerry Lee Lewis 'cos he's also an arrogant SOB. Pay attention to the music and let the folks close to them deal with their personalities, right?

Obviously there is a Garcia-inspired guitar drive and general sound, similar to their 1970s sound, to my ear. However, I cannot see how anyone is likely to confuse Ryan Adams with the Dead or any components thereof.
