I went to the 10 year anniversary acoustic tour of this album.  It was just as amazing as the 96 tour.  Very raw.  Jason Mraz opened for her and did a hell of a job.  Months later he was all over the radio.  Great memories {#Cheers}
Great version - but this girl needs more hands.
This song would be much improved without the awful harmonica.
Poor version of a great song
Wow! So much vitriol expressed here!  I've always liked her music and appreciated her sound.  I've thought she was gorgeous, she had a beautiful voice and she was a very good lyricist.  I liked that she directed many of her own music videos, which were very creative and entertaining.

I decided to take a look at her work.  According to Wikipedia she's released 8 albums.  Her first album at age ~17 went platinum in Canada and she co-wrote all the songs.  Jagged Little Pill, her third album, sold 33 million copies, and at the 1996 Grammy Awards, she won Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Album and Album of the Year.  She won Best Rock Song and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in 1999.  Her fourth album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, was very successful and received a four-star review from Rolling Stone and resulted in more awards and recognition.  In the 2000s she branched out into other activities (film, television, stage).

My sense is that she shot too quickly to stardom for her own preference and decided to engage in activities that interested her but that weren't high on the popularity scale.  She's now 40 y.o., and I bet we haven't heard the best from her yet.  She's got a lot more to give.

If your eardrum's in her pocket, perhaps you need some kind of ectomy..

OK, seen her do this in early days and never really liked the yodelling. Still don't.

PS I'll get me jacket, as Fred might say, while you read this: https://www.salon.com/2014/05/08/what_everybody_gets_wrong_about_alanis_morissettes_ironic_partner/

Exactly...she has what all of two albums, then puts out an unplugged version/tour of Jagged Little Pill 10 years later.....who's buying this crap if they already have the first album? Sounds like she needed to fulfill her contract with Maverick eh?
I liked the first album, and I really like these acoustic versions, too. It's interesting to hear through her maturity, her songs have a new viewpoint.
I never understand people's objections to revisiting previous works. I treat acoustic versions like live performances. Sure the material is the same whether in studio or stage form, but the delivery and atmosphere is vastly different. Personally, it's her material, her life, her change of spiritual direction, and I for one am fine with that. :goodvibes.gif:
Annoying at any speed.

Correct me if I'm wrong: she can't come up with new quality material so she refurbishes the old?
Problem is she couldn't come up with quality old material either. I like the hand in the socket idea...

Wow, it sounds like there's some Alanis dislikers out there. If you've never seen her live, you should at least once, she has an incredible energy that is extremely infectious. I wasn't a big fan until I saw her perform and that's all it took. She can remake all of her albums as far as I'm concerned - she's now a buddhist and has an amazing calm about her. Re-recording her original albums with this new found peace will be something I look forward to hearing.
if i never have to hear from AM again that would be fine with me.
Not wild about the original, but I liked it better than this.
