Yes! I Agree!  NICE TUNE!  Thanx RP!
What a surprise. Sounded like the Snow Goose by Camel. Peeked and indeed.

Good memories, saw them for the first time in 1974 Breda, The Netherlands.
I am getting old......
One hump or two?

OK, wiseking.
I forget, my mistake—what was the title of the bestselling CD that featured you blazing away Beck-like on lead guitar?

Yes, I second the reply to the snooty snark of wiseking. Which Santana bad? Because I've heard some Santana that's a lot less compelling than other, but seldom so-said bad, and I can list 20 - 30 cuts which may prove the opposite of 'hackneyed.'
Anyway, the cut seems to have a more than passing resemblance to Roy Buchanan. Which is not bad, to any hackneyed ears.

Agreed.
So tired of his sanctimonious whining.

This is crazy.  I never thought in a million years I'd hear this tune played anywhere but from my own collection.  Thanks RP.

So great to hear the great Camel on RP, beautifully blended in a mix across the decades. You guys are the best!
Bought the Mirage and The Snow Goose CDs recently.  Excellent.

I particularly like The Snow Goose CD probably because of the RP introductions to this song and Rhayader.
Sounds like Dutch group Focus plays Hey Jude in free form :) 6.
Nice to see Bill throw a little (relatively) obscure 70s prog into the mix!

Camel!

Thanks!!!
Thanks Bill, Such a good song by Camel.  {#Biggrin}
Wow! Great to hear Camel on RP. Could Happy The Man be somewhere in the not-too-distant future?
Post Camel (circa 1987) saw Pete Bardens' band play The Bottom Line in NYC.  On percussion that night: Mick Fleetwood.  Not a bad show...
Timeless.... thanks Bill  {#Music}
 Camel ? Haven't heard this band in forever.  Thanks RP !
It's really good idea to listen to this album from start to finish. Very pleasing.
This song heals wounds. Never Let Go..

Well, if you compare the Camel logo with the image on the album, they are identical:

If they had no connection with the company, I'm surprised they didn't get sued for trademark infringement.

Nice to wake up to on a Saturday morning
Turned on to these guys long ago by a Dutch boyfriend. over 25 years ago. Still sounds damn good.
thanks for the play - it's been wellover 25 years since I listend to the snow goose
I'd never heard this before!  What a lovely, melodic song... I'm glad it isn't "Frampton's Camel," because (shhhh - and don't tell anyone I wrote this!) I think Camel runs circles around Frampton's Camel. I love Peter Frampton's music, and he's earned his stripes, but this "Camel" is much more intricate and soulful, IMO. {#Mrgreen}

Elvis Presley

Kiss me quick, while we still have this feeling
Hold me close and never let me go
'Cause tomorrows can be so uncertain
Love can fly and leave just hurting
Kiss me quick because I love you so

Kiss me quick and make my heart go crazy
Sigh that sigh and whisper oh so low
Tell me that tonight will last forever
Say that you will leave me never
Kiss me quick because I love you so

Let the band keep playing while we are swaying
Let's keep on praying that we'll never stop

Kiss me quick just can't stand this waiting
'Cause your lips are lips I long to know
Oh that kiss will open heaven's door
And we'll stay there forevermore
Kiss me quick because I love you so

Let the band keep playing while we are swaying
Let's keep on praying that we'll never stop

Kiss me quick just can't stand this waiting
'Cause your lips are lips I long to know
Oh that kiss will open heaven's door
And we'll stay there forevermore
Kiss me quick because I love you so

Andrew Latimer (guitar), Andy Ward (drums) and Doug Ferguson (bass) had been playing as a trio called The Brew around the Guildford, Surrey area of England. They recruited Peter Bardens (keyboards) and after an initial gig to fulfill a Bardens commitment on 8 October 1971 in Belfast, Northern Ireland under the name of Peter Bardens' On, they changed their name to Camel. Their first gig was at Waltham Forest Technical College, London supporting Wishbone Ash on 4 December. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camel_%28band%29

P.S.  I hear something a tad similar to that band from the Netherlands called Focus.  Focus was a one-hit wonder.  I'm thinking of the Focus that did not get wide airplay.

Jan Ackerman was fantastic in that band!

This also sounds a bit like the Allman Brothers.  No matter. Very nice.
One of my best albums ever - Thank you...

My best friend gave me this album for my 17th birthday - I used to play it endlessly.
That was some 25 years ago :-)

Thank you for playing this now - I must have not heard this in some 15+ years.

Play something from "Moonmadness".
Thanks, I really love Camel, I discovered them two years ago, never heard them in the 70's. Sorry, my english is not good (I am spanish talking from Costa Rica), but I try hard to do it better.

That, and your trademark blue text.

I imagine that I am not the first member on the site who has deduced that "calypsus_1" writes his or her comments in Spanish (or another non-English language) and then runs them through some sort of translation program which creates those garbled fragments.  Sometimes randomly-translated passages can be amusing, other times - not so much.  As for the distinctive blue text, um.....

We want more Camel tunes. Lady Fantasy would be just perfect. It hasn't been played for ages.

Excellent stuff.  In fact, I think I'll pop in both discs from Echoes right now. {#Music}

I made a comment yesterday about Camel on another thread. I really like this guys. I wished Bill would play more of their stuff. Specially from their newer albums.
I really like these guys - especially the guitar.
It's been ages, but recognized this in the first notes. Thanks!
THOUGHT  THIS WAS A  "SMOKE FREE" RADIO..........LOL....  I MUSTA MISS THIS GROUP IN MY YOUTH, VERY  POETIC...I CAN SEE THE GOOSE................WOW.FAR OUT!!!!

Wonderful

I've not heard this for 30 years - the hair is standing up on the back of my neck!

Thank you

No problem with that, westslope.  There actually is quite some Camel on RP which is hardly ever played. Still you can click on one of the affiliate links and buy the album thereby both helping RP and Camel ( and the record company )

Finally my request came through!
More Camel, please!

First time I hear Camel on RP!

This is a GREAT band

Don't like it. {#Snooty}
Everything about this is horrible.  Snooze-inducing, bad 1970's elevator music.
Yes, the very same band. jotbe6 wrote:

To an immediate 10, just for memory's sake. Wow - well done RP digging out an old gem like this one... maybe a little outdated now, but still holds it own..... now where did I put that LP? Time to blow the dust off.
This reminds me of Focus.... Nice.
That's why I like THIS radiostation... music like this!
Puuuuhhhhh....geht's noch lahmarschiger? Boring.
Good transition music, just before we merge into the news.
I love Camel. Nude is a great album. Takes me back to my college days. "City Life" is one of my all time favorite songs.
OK, so it may not be high energy but just about everything I hear from this group (admittedly not much) is alway very tastefully done. I just shake my head when I think of all the time I wasted on all those other one-word bands in the 70s when I could have been listening to these guys.

Wow! I have this on vinyl. Burned it to a CD because I could not find it in that format. I still play it regularly. Thanks, Bill and Rebecca.
I love Camel, and never expected to ever hear them played anywhere. Do you have anything from "Moon Madness"? - Thank you for playing them!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Soooooooooooooooooo beautiful. Closing me eyes and utterly enjoying this masterpiece which takes me back to when Camel performed at school
