Sometimes I'm wondering under prehistoric skies.
I feel it's all beginning right before my eyes.
I must go back, reexamine my love.
Here she comes with the penetrated stare.
I don't know when, but I wish I knew where.
Quick calculation, there's not nearly enough.
Because we're lost, because we're lost.
Cold desert stars, feel them sparkle and frost,
They are so lost.

Follow her down to worship some god.
Who never speaks to me, I wonder if that's odd.
Then he says you're never listening.
The pursuit of adulation is your butter and your bread.
It's an exquisite corpse and its lips are red
And its teeth are glistening.
But you are lost, but you are lost.
Now hang up 'cause the lines are all crossed,
You are so lost.

If you're alone and you're feeling blue,
Everyone in Persia probably feels like that too.
I just hope they don't believe like you do.
Here she comes with her unforgiving web.
Almost forever I've been drinking these dregs.
It must be time to change our brew, cruel, view.
Before we're lost, before we're lost.
Look at the map, add up the cost,
Before we're lost.

We don't hear enough from the Church on Paradise, nice play
I got guitars....that jingle jangle jingle.

Helped define the era.

this is very dull music.

Isn't It A Pity? I mean, My Sweet Lord!

Totally not my cup of tea. {#Headache}

For fans... Steve Kilby has his blog online. He's one stream-of-conciousness m-f. And for that if nothing else I love him ;) Well that, and all the great music over the years. (click here)

As opposed to seeing them dead?
No.. as opposed as to not seeing them live (in concert).. ha!
the more I hear the Church the more I like them, gotta buy one of their albums these days, anyone recommendations?
...if you loved starfish, try... hologram of baal magician among the spirits (the original version, not the plus-some remaster) priest=aura pharmakoi/distance-crunching honchos with echo units (the artist is the refo:mation, not the church, but it's the same band sans one guitarist) after everything, now this(their most mellow-sounding album, but brilliant once it clicks)
He sounds like a depressed drunk.

...beautiful...
see these guys live if you ever have a chance. They still play around every few years or so in relatively smaller sized clubs. (under 1000 capacity venues in the USA at least) *GREAT* band live.
Dated, in a pleasant sort of way.

This sounds EXACTLY like a (rather crappy) Pink Floyd song called 'Learning to Fly'.
Wouldn't only "Learning to fly" itself sound EXACTLY like "Learning to fly"?

I agree. I think Starfish is their best. Has other great songs, like Under the Milky Way and Reptile.

Heyday, Of Skins and Heart, Blurred Crusade

I think this album is their best. Just my 2 cents. Happy listening

me again....The Blurred Crusade is their best effort and it's hardly represented with the ONE song....
Someone upoad "In An Unguarded Moment" or anything from Seance or Remote Luxury.
A good tune, but an excellent album
Paints a very vivid picture. The Church are great storytellers. I've played this CD so much it's getting thinner.

I live in celebration of the fact that The Church are nothing like PF. . . not that I dislike Floyd, but I have to agree with greyfin - I prefer The Church

To each his/her own of course... if the situation was reversed I'd prefer any Church song (well, most any) to "Learning to Fly". My prejudice (for that's what it is) is due to a) the fact that The Church is probably my favorite band and b) most of the post-Waters work I like less.

Ha! That is the greatest response to a negative rating that I've come across yet! I cracked up laughing. And... well, I jsut happen to think that this is one Church that can do no wrong. At least, their offerings aren't responsible for wholesale slaughter in the world.

I would dispute.. This is a great album.... But the point is well taken.

10 - Godlike ...like most of this album.
