Seems like the world's gone underground
No gods or heroes dare to go down
As teardrops from a hole in heaven come
Overhead like ravens dropping down like bombs

Now through the mornings silver frosted glow
Well God says nothing back but I told you so
I told you so

Now God bless the void of my daydreams
Head back in the snow making angel wings
As slow motion dancing lights at dawn
Sail beneath a burning yellow sun

I'm calling out from the deep ends of my bones
Well time says nothing back but I told you so
I told you so

The still waters rising in my mind
Black and deep, smoke behind my eyes
Last night I could not sleep at all
I hallucinated that you were in my arms

To be in your heart I failed my own
Love says nothing back but I told you so
I told you so

I'm still here re-climbing every rung
An' someone saw something
Now Someone speak up
Back over the rotted bridge I cross
Open up these graves, let these bodies talk

Buried under leaves blood red and gold
Well Death says nothing back but I told you so
I told you so

Count me among those who really like Jakob Dylan.

Followed by Patty Griffin's "Little God", then Tori Amos' "God", "God Shuffled His Feet" from CTD, "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" (Coldplay), "God's Gonna Cut You Down" by Cash, and ending with that fun little ditty by Joe Henry that is still one of my favorite RP discoveries...

Or "God Part 2" by U2? A totally underplayed/underrated song, IMHO.
I alson thought Jackson Brown

Let's start upvoting Cynaera's original posts.  We don't have to reply to move them up anymore.

Yes, thank you.
Besides, the band is called the Wallflowers, not the Jakob Dylan Band.

Just saw them perform at a small local county fair...
Gotta tell ya, they sounded amazingly great!
My wife thought Jakob sounded better in person than on the original sound tracks
I guess the wall flowers died. What happened to these guys?
Well, it seems to me that he definitely has inherited and made use of much of his father's gift for setting heartbreaking poetry to song...
Very Paul Simon-ish. Not bad.

So, the gorgeous melody and lyrics made me pensive, but then the mud wrestling/ralph comment made me giggle. Its a full experience, this song....
I find this song so compelling.  I try to stop whatever it is I'm doing to hear it all the way through.

The Wallflowers are just fine sounding and superb writing.  Check out their song Josephine.

Nice!

Other way around.  Some atheists are nihilists, some aren't.  But all nihilists are atheists.
If this doesn't end soon I'm going to ralph.

I just read both of the links you posted in their entirety, and they confirm that indeed, atheist != nihilist.

So, assuming that you actually read the links you posted, how could you miss this fact?  I can think of two explanations.  One is that your english and written comprehension skills are terrible.

An alternate explanation is you don't know what "!=" means.  != is shorthand for "does not equal".  The earliest use I'm familiar with is from the computer language C, but it was probably used in an earlier language too (later languages like C++, Java and many others use the same convention).

In programming, != is a strict Not equal operation.  It only holds true if the left and right side are not equal.  In common internet usage it gets abused a bit to mean "not necessarily equal to".

The Wallflowers, hadn't heard much from them for a while, Bob Dylan's son? This song rises up with good everything, lyrics, music. Nice.

The Nihilist Set: "God Says Nothing Back" "Godless"
Never a WF fan, but this is excellent.
...there's not nearly enough tympani in contemporary music...
All of the BD comparison is lame. It's totally lame. These people are their own. If you gotta write negative shit, post it elsewhere.

I don't agree with that - I don't even think of Bob when I hear Wallflowers. To me it's a totally different sound. Not like Stephen/Bob Marley.
I'm thinking Geordie might mean that they would never have gotten the time of day from a record company without his being related to Dylan.... Not saying I agree, but it's certainly possible.
Did I read somewhere that Jakob formed another band? If so, are the Wallflowers still together?

Geordie, Why would you say that? We're interested in you, and your dad's not Dylan.
Yo, geordiezimmerman, given that young Dylan is the polar opposite of his father in concert, your comment sounds rather mean spirited. I wonder how many of the fans I have seen at his concerts even know who is father is? Jakob is engaging, charming, and personable on the stage. Although I have seen his father on stage numerous times, I would never describe Dylan in those same terms.
Have to give credit for using a kettle drum in this song. Great sound. I think to stand out, you really have to do something different like that. Add some strange instrument or unusual bridge or ...
Excellent song! Quite moving and haunting.
If his dad wasn't Bob Dylan no one would have any interest in this awful band.
Intensely forgettable
Nice song, but from the first drum beats I started singing the Law & Order theme.
I concur with a previous poster: it is hauntingly beautiful.
I think what makes this song for me is the constant, driving drum line. Gives it that extra push to an 8.
I was just thinking about this band the other day, thanks Bill!
Beautiful song! Disturbing video.

I always like "Everybody out of the Water" off of Red Letter Days ... also their cover of "Heroes" on the Godzilla (1998) soundtrack. 5-Hit wonder? But I agree, they are hit and miss ... mainly miss, but when they hit it, it usually sticks with me.
I personally think Bringing Down the Horse is a great album start to finish. I do however skip One Headlight just because it has been so overplayed. This is one of only a few newer great tunes of theirs however.

By far my favorite Wallflowers song. Those drum beats are making my desk shake it's turned up so loud. Outstanding song-writing and instrumentation.
Gorgeous and haunting.
I hear a little of Bruce Springsteen's The River in here.
Very nice. Good to see these guys are still around.
