Ain't THAT the truth!
{#Drunk}Jesuscripesonalawnmower! This is what a Macy's Parade on Crack (or a recent inaugural parade, take your pick) might sound like
Bugs Bunny anyone?
Awful!

WTF?!?!?

Guess you had to be there. I want to be there. But do I really want to surrender 2+ hours of my life to Ah-nuld?

I really want this song to last longer.  Just as I'm sway'n with the gypsy like tune; it ends!

More Trail of Dead please. This song went right by me, but I remember liking their stuff 6-7 years ago.

Sometimes I can be real stupid.  (Ok, most of the time, but we won't go into that here.)
One of my morning online comics is "9 Chickweed Lane",  and for the past several months one of the characters, Amos, a cellist, has been in a competition in Brussels and won.  On Mar 13, 2009, he got a congratulatory note from Hillary Hahn.  It never occurred to me the author was referring to "The" Hillary Hahn.
Kudos to Brooke McEldowney and Bill for making my brain work just a little bit harder.{#Cheers}

Hopefully this is an homage, I do hear different arrangements but the similarities are striking!

Wow, imagine having Hilary Hahn playing fiddle on your album! Not only is she one of the best violinists in the world, she's a class act in every way.

I've learned that in addition to a heavy touring and recording schedule, Hilary Hahn regularly appears at non-classical venues with the likes of Tom Brosseau and, as seen in the photo below, with Josh Ritter.

Oh yeah, I know who that is. I was just too lazy to look it up. I knew someone on RP would know. Thanks!!
that sudden rush thing just scared the crap out of me.
7!
Bruegelesque. Nice virtuosity!

Whatever happened to "The best" that used to follow this one? It'd be nice to hear the three songs set again sometime.

Interesting band name. why is there a parental warning?

Most certainly.

Was this cut to include only the instrumental? Based on the comments, that was a good move. I like it as it is.
I didn't hear it, but judging by the length and the name change, yes. All three pieces are wonderful, but jarring to hear out of the context of the album. I thought about uploading this track on its own, but it looks like RP did some cutting and pasting themselves. Weird that they saved the ratings and comments, though. Any Trail Of Dead on RP is welcome in my book. They have a new album coming out soon, so I'll probably be uploading a few tracks when it comes out. BTW, the full title is "To Russia, My Homeland".

what happened? why is this rating so low? thats messed up guys this song is perfect, especially in context with the rest of the album.
The voice is a lot less "limpdick" on their typical tracks. Of course their typical tracks won't get played on RP because they are loud as hell. But, if you're so inclined, off this album, try Caterwaul or The Rest Will Follow. Better yet, check out the album Source Tags and Codes. The entire thing will knock you over. Best yet, see them live. I guarantee that you will never think to associate them with the term limpdick again. nuggler wrote:

exactly! it sounds like tree songs...

I don't know why they were selected to be played on RP like this, but they do give you an idea of what to expect from the album as a whole -- eclectic progresive rock that's much more intense than what we normally expect from bands with that label.
Well put, and thank you for sharing. Likeable tune(s), bordering on excellent.
The second piece has this Hunky Dory feeling if you step back far enough, but like a frozen pizza only makes you wish you had bought a real one, so does this comparision only make me want to listen to some old Bowie instead.
Trying to sound sinister with a limpdick voice. Bring back the Sisters of Mercy, I say....
Interesting . . . and the lyrics are comprehensible, unlike those of the most recent three selections.

please read below... they're actually 3 different tracks as 'John Erle' points out:
Thanks for bumping that, rainfairy, but I've learned long ago not to expect informed opinions on the internet, just opinions. The whole album has songs that fade into one another or overlap like these three do, so these tracks aren't meant to be seen as one complete piece in any way. I don't know why they were selected to be played on RP like this, but they do give you an idea of what to expect from the album as a whole -- eclectic progresive rock that's much more intense than what we normally expect from bands with that label. I love all three of these tracks, although I can understand why they seem jarring (and just plain loud) to the average RP listener.
Seems ambitious, perhaps like the Heaven's Gate of song selections: not sure if it is some kind of triumphant epic or a thundering disaster. More auditions needed in any event.

I think this series of songs makes perfect sense in the context of the album, but they probably seem a like a strange choice lumped together and thrown on RP like this. The first bit, To Russia My Homeland, actually fits better as a coda to Let It Dive, which precedes it on the album. All White has a nice melody, but I find the lyrics disappointingly bland. The last song, The Best, starts off with that amazing, fiery, passionate guitar-based intro then suddenly shifts gears into a very different but still excellent second half of the song. It's definitely my favorite of this trio, and one of the best tracks on the album.
Ok, Queens Bohemian Rhapsody got away with glueing together a song but this thing just Buuuuuuuhhhhhhhlooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwsssssss. :verymad: 8O
crap
the abbey road b-side it is not.
Awesome. Great choice.

I was confused too. I'll give the trio a 5/7/6 or a "6" average.

It is all over the place. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. And if I haven't figured it out by now, since I think the song's almost over(?!), it's leaning to the 'not good' side. But then again, it's got nice melodic parts.. It's fighting with itself? :-k :-s

YES!!! All White is a fantastic little number, and the Best will grow on you, especially if you give any creedence to the rumor that it's about Michael Jackson... Still not sure if this tops Source Tags and Codes, but that's hair-splitting between two outstanding, creative records. Caterwaul is my favorite off of this effort.
