And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret, just the Robinsons' affair
Most of all, you've got to hide it from the kids

Coo, coo, ca-choo, Mrs Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Ev'ry way you look at it, you lose

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo)
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Joltin' Joe has left and gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

i agree. but, i didn't know eddie vedder had a beef with paul simon. weird.

you'd think if anything, paul would have a beef with evan dando/the lemonheads because of this cover.

boy does this one take me back. love the lemonheads.

IDK.  Who cares?
There are great covers. And necessary covers. Then there are covers that just plain earn their keep.

I like the bass guitar sound. It sounds like a Rickenbacker with round wound strings.  Thanx RP!
Only Simon & Garfunkel sing this song with excellence

Better than the original, but everything is history. Go watch "The Graduate" and then appreciate. :-)

You mean "French"? Obviously. ;P
GREAT band back in the day. Have they done anything lately?
Y tho?
"one of the band's most successful singles", according to Wikipedia.
Now THAT's a shame!
This is one of those covers that is considerable diminished compared with the original. Other than a crashing and frenzied pace, what is the point? Same words, but basically pointless. I expect that there are literally hundreds of rock bands, inhabiting garages and other spaces where few can hear them, who can do as well as this.
It really is a shame about Ray....
I've always liked this version, a nice refresh of a classic song.
  Lemonheads have some good stuff!

I'll agree with you that Distrubed's cover is superb; this one's not great to my ears, though I'll give it a +1 for being distinct.  LLRP and random covers!!
Nope! Just nope!
That was fun!
I love this cover almost as much as Disturbed's superb cover of The Sounds of Silence!

I agree!!! I like the Lemonheads but....this SUCKS!! Can you say there must be 50 ways to leave your lover? Hmmmmm......
Great cover. And "just say no to drugs" for all of the fans of the candy.
I saw the Lemonheads before they ever played this cover. A local band opened for them - The Moving Van Goghs (from Manhattan KS). The MVGs had a neat arrangement of an old Simon and Garfunkel song that they used to do as an encore. Mrs Robinson, I think. Evan Dando really liked the way they played it, I hear. Cody
What a terrible cover! Shame on them.

Sounds like the Meat Puppets should have followed. Nice show. Quite likeable cover.
The Canadians are right! Most excellent!
I saw the lemonheads open for the smithereens. Then was another band followed them that I cannot remember. Evan was in the crowd at Popular Creek talking people for 10 mins. plus and then he jumped on stage to start the show. Very laid back and cool guy.

where is Evan Dando? That's the question. That's right up there with where is Axel, where is Keith Flint, where is Waldo and Jimmy Hoffa...
Like the guitar.....that's about it. pbm
i feel like the lemonheads were always just overrated.
I absolutely LOVE this version!
Well done chaps, well done!
I like the music, but the singing lacks feeling. Make it more emotional like the original song or more agressive like the new music, because now it's just bland.
I like this version better than the original. Not so wimpy.
Decent remake...
Good cover!
Nice, I needed to hear some version of Mrs. Robinson. Not the best cover, but still...thanks RP!
Bet you're banging your head along to this !!
fun!

This is fun. I like the sonic guitar parts. This would be great to see live at a bar of my choice.

Seeing how the original was around long before I was, I don't think I could remember it. While I do prefer the original by a great deal, I do enjoy this song. It's one of those tunes that makes me feel like I may have actually had a good time way back in high school...
Attention, Lemonheads: Do you know why Simon and Garfunkel recorded this song? So that you wouldn't have to.

Couldn't have said it better. This is what a cover should do!

Funny - I thought Deep Purple during the intro. How totally wrong.....
Never thought much of this. How about playing 'My Drug Buddy' from the It's a Shame About Ray album?

However I might feel about this track, that's a little extreme.
I'm of the same view. While strongly in favor of the playing of originals, I have to be against the "no covers" part of that statement.

No. No no no no no. No.

Quite true, and this is a darned good effort in that vein (in achieving a new and different sound, that is). But don't certain songs earn their place in time?
Good energy, sure I didn't think about any insightful social commentary or owt, maybe I will another time, but that was good energy.

A sacrilege.
Yet another HORRID cover of a FABULOUS song. Nothing and no one can top the original. And, without the harmony, it's even worse. YUCK!!!! The only covers that I've found are serviceable are by Lenny Kravitz doing Hendrix.

There seems to be a school of thought which holds that alienated emotional detatchment is the height of artistry. For instance: Cake, Nirvana, Psychedelic Furs, The Cure . . . I could go on, but you get the point. I happen to think that's a load of fetid dingoes' kidneys myself.

Didn't Evan Dando used to have a career? For a (short) while, you couldn't turn on "alternative" radio without hearing these guys.

S&G meet the Go-Go's
Hey--actually, this song CRIES OUT for a semi-snide remake/remodel; I personally thought it was a great idea for the Lemonheads (who were always cover-happy anyway--look what they did to "Luka") to deconstruct such an earnestly loved classic. And it's not simply a piss-take either; it is, in its own true hamfisted way, a reverent cover. I'll never rate a cover all that high, but this worthy effort deserves at least an "8" from me.
Please! leave the decent songs to decent bands! go and play your stuff whatever that is!! :verymad:

Wait...isn't, "objectively rate" an oxymoron? I understand in many circumstances a judging rubric of sorts is developed, but by nature, your rating is always going to be subjective, right?
One of my favorite covers. I feel that if you're gonna bother playing someone else's tune you need to make it your own. My upload by the way ('cept I accidentally credited the Smithereens - oops. I bought the two CDs at the same time)
Great song from a great CD I had forgotten. Thanks RP!

I can't objectively rate this either. Went on a 2 week trip to Europe with some high school/college buddies in 1993. One of them had a sack of cassettes that we listened to in the car - this album (cassette actually) was in heavy rotation. Every time I hear it I think of that trip. So, I can't objectively rate it.

How can I NOT like this band?!? \\:D/
Excellent (and respectful) cover of one of my favorite S&G songs! I've enjoyed this cover since it came out.
wrong wrong wrong!

I have no opinion whatsoever, actually. This song could come or go and I don't think I'd mind either way.

It's a fun bit of pop, to me.

Turn it up and let er rip!!!!!
Nice upbeat cover. Adds an element of fun to a classic. Not bad.
I tap my feet, but at the same time ask "Should you ever cover this song?" This song (to me) really belongs to SG only...maybe?
