Pass me that lovely little gun
My dear, my darling one
The cleaners are coming, one by one
You don't even want to let them start

They are knocking now upon your door
They measure the room, they know the score
They're mopping up the butcher's floor
Of your broken little hearts

O children

Forgive us now for what we've done
It started out as a bit of fun
Here, take these before we run away
The keys to the gulag

O children
Lift up your voice, lift up your voice
Children
Rejoice, rejoice

Here comes Frank and poor old Jim
They're gathering round with all my friends
We're older now, the light is dim
And you are only just beginning

O children

We have the answer to all your fears
It's short, it's simple, it's crystal clear
It's round about, it's somewhere here
Lost amongst our winnings

O children
Lift up your voice, lift up your voice
Children
Rejoice, rejoice

The cleaners have done their job on you
They're hip to it, man, they're in the groove
They've hosed you down, you're good as new
They're lining up to inspect you

O children

Poor old Jim's white as a ghost
He's found the answer that was lost
We're all weeping now, weeping because
There ain't nothing we can do to protect you

O children
Lift up your voice, lift up your voice
Children
Rejoice, rejoice

Hey little train! We are all jumping on
The train that goes to the Kingdom
We're happy, Ma, we're having fun
And the train ain't even left the station

Hey, little train! Wait for me!
I once was blind but now I see
Have you left a seat for me?
Is that such a stretch of the imagination?

Hey little train! Wait for me!
I was held in chains but now I'm free
I'm hanging in there, don't you see
In this process of elimination

Hey little train! We are all jumping on
The train that goes to the Kingdom
We're happy, Ma, we're having fun
It's beyond my wildest expectation

Hey little train! We are all jumping on
The train that goes to the Kingdom
We're happy, Ma, we're having fun
And the train ain't even left the station

WOW! {#Clap}I never heard this song before until just last night, when I seen the movie "Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" where they happen to be playing this song on the radio, while Harry & Hermione are dancing together in the tent. I heard it and I thought " Now that is a great song & use of the song." I stayed till the end of the credits just to see who performed it & what the name of the song was. It reminds me of the song "Each Small Candle" that was done by Roger Waters {#Clap}

Hadn't listened to it in a while till I heard it in the new Harry Potter movie.  Perfect choice for that scene!  I have had it cranked since.  I see it has shot up to number 1 as the most popular Nick Cave song on iTunes since the movie hit the big screen.

I've got to say, there's no in between with Nick Cave. I either love it or hate it, and this is fantastic.
Probably my favorite Nick Cave.

Yeah. It is.
You know what, now that I think about it I realize why I thought it was played on the radio all the time. I used to play this album all the time. My memory is getting bad
Thanks you Bill, this is one of my favorites of his. You've been playing a great set this morning! Right on man!

Summertime is a deeper cut?
Yeah. It is.

They have the same effect on me. I really like this song and Let the Bells Ring, however.

Really? ? I dunno. It's a great song, I think, but doesn't seem to have that kind of vibe. More or maybe , I'm thinkin'. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds continue to surprise me. Maybe it's time to pick up some of their stuff and give it a real listen. MT

Do you think he is doing that sound with a high-hat?
Yup, all recorded live off the floor in gay Paree. In springtime no less.
way too generic pop music for me. nick can do so much better ...

love Nick Cave, been to see him and the Bad Seeds twice now and they go off. His earlier stuff is even better.
another nifty pick-me-up!
ditto most of the last comments.
I really love about 70% of Nick Cave's stuff. This is some of the stuff I like.
Decent... probably as close as I've ever come to liking a Nick Cave song.

I actually enjoyed this, nice pick Bill. Not a great song, but not bad, certainly better than the rating indicates.
Way to Mother-Theresa-like for me.
And the Ass Saw the Nod to Johnny Cash on this song.
