Well there is no such thing as you
It doesn't matter what you do
The more you try to qualify
The more it all will pass you by
Some people like to make life a little tougher than it is
Some people like to make life a little tougher than it is

Well the more you try to shave the cat
The more the thing will bite and scratch
It's best I think to leave its fur
And to listen to its silky purr
Some people like to make life a little tougher than it is
Some people like to make life a little tougher than it is

Well there is no such thing as you
It doesn't matter what you do
The more you try to qualify
The more it all will pass you by

This is my favorite Cake album of all!

That was a totally amazing segue!!!! (And I'm a radio pro too.) Real radio, for the people who are listening!
oh no! awl rite!
radio repeat!
Man what is RP's attraction to Cake? They're marginal at best with a few good tunes, but there are so many other bands whose barrel bottoms are so much better. 2/10 Edit - I just looked - Holy carp! 28 Cake songs in the library.
Must be easy to be an overpaid overrated pothead...

I found this whole album a pretentious disappointment.
jesus i agree! altho i do not know about the album as i can't stand what i have heard on the radio. this band is so offensive to my sensibilities.

This thing's worn itself out here and on FM.
seriously bill.. there ARE different cake songs! its like commercial radio w/o the commercials
just sounds normal. could turn on FM radio and would listen to many equal songs.....
bill wake up and play some different cake. thanks
can i "Ctrl+Z" this whole listening experience?
i know there are more songs by cake than just this one.

Ask Pedro. He's the "cake" builder, isn't he?
Indeed. Think John McCrea would mind if we built a pinata in his image?
They don't need to be amusing. They're not musical geniuses, but they're quite competent live (more than I can say for a lot of today's pop) and they have a unique, immediately recognizable sound, which is also tough to pull off. ollybear wrote:
Radio Paradise plays way too much Cake! They are a mediocre band, not nearly as amusing as they think they are.

Irony. Detatchment. Detached irony, yet with an ironically detached feeling.
Unfortunately, after the loss of the lead guitar (what was his name) the cds lost their "love at first site" quality, but it's still good. They just require a couple of listenings.

Oh yeah! This band has one of the most unique sounds in music today. The first time I heard them was a whip-lash moment. My head spun around looking to see what bizarre thing had happened. Great band!
Cake is fun, simply fun.
how do you connect the 2? WOW? i can't stand cake!!!! but loved the 12 dreams of dr. sardonicus. can't hear it
A song or two from Motorcade of Generosity would be awesome. I am a Cake fan, I celebrate there whole collection.... And for you non-believers I say, blaahhhhh!! like this is only the best band ever...like anyone could ever know that.
everytime I hear the start of this song, I think it's by Spirit-Animal Zoo, I think.
I am a Jersey Girl!! who lives in LA, CA. Can you imagine that? Jersey girls rock - just ask Tom Waits. LOL Spoken like a true Jersey Girl! Er, not to stereotype or anything. One of Cake's lesser efforts, but still pretty good.

I thought his words were load and clear. GET THIS SHIT OF THE RADIO :) (I agree)
Cake is probably the best thing to ever come out of Sacramento. I think I like the Comfort Eagle album better though.

Who are these people? Why do they keep bothering me?
I know too many people like that. Is it me?
I love the drum/trumpet breakdown on this one.
