aaaaargh! please no! no! never again!
The "kill kill kill" bit makes me think of Woody Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant." Right about now, I'd much rather be hearing that than this wretched mess.
Why does this song sound like Annie Lennox (sp?)to me? Very torn about this song, I like it I think... ;-)
EEEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!!

ok - this is bizzare. The more I hear it, the more I like it. It's musicrack, and I am getting hooked. Changed my rating to a . I am stunned too!
Blech, as if the song wasn't bad enough on itself, the MP3 compression has added some annoying artifacts on top... :headache.gif:
this is horrible.
This is simultaneously entrancing and disturbing. The latter may overcome the former.

That's exactly right. I want so badly for Fiona to pull a third rabbit out of her ego-inflated hat. I can't wait to hear these get reproduced.

this sucks.
After reading all the comments on here but always missing the song, I was expecting this song would be an experience that would make me want to rip my own ears off. Now that I've finally heard it, the vocals are kinda grating but other than that it really is not that bad...
This song makes me sea-sick - dizzy, nauseated, and wishing someone would put a bullet in my brain. God-awful
Being a Fiona Apple fan, I'd like to know who is producing this crap for her? Use her talents more wisely!

Here, let me help you: :headshake:
This song truley sucks! Fionna on the other hand "Grrrrrrowww"!!
Bad Bad Bad
Annoying? Or just grating? I can't decide.
She used to know how to play the piano. And sing. Egad.

it might be better if she stayed on key, or maybe that's the point to this diabolical sound.
Yeah, that's bugging me. It's refreshing to hear something really different from anything else out there. Unfortunately, I can't say that I like it.
no wonder they dont want to release this crap. its horrible.
meh, I kind of liked it. It was interesting but not something I would expect many people would enjoy. The problem with this track is that it _almost_ grooves but just kind of grates in the end. The harmonies on the rest of the album are really dense, don't move in symmetry and don't make much sense unless you're into that sort of thing. I guess I am. superbeef wrote:

I've officially landed on the other side of the fence. First time I heard this on RP, I was elated, after knowing the history behind Fiona's new album. Now I've heard the entire thing, and I'm unimpressed. She's broken no new ground at all, unless you count how ridiculously she's increased the production levels (orchestration, anyone?). And her voice... Does she sound, well, old to anyone else?
That's hitting the nail on the head. In my book she is been one big waste of time
"Oh Sailor" is the best song on the album.

Or, to quote my wife, over there on the couch, "This really sucks." "They don't think it's commercial enough," Bill just said of Sony. "Not commercial enough" might just be . . . "bad."

8) Impressive... Suck Fony!
Not necessarily for daily consumption...but an invigorating change of pace.
Fiona harkens back to the best of the female jazz singers, letting the almost off-key sound suggest weariness and misery. I think she's a brilliant, ambitious artist.
OUCH!!! talent painfully misguided....

Don't you hate these soulless bureaucrats? They won't release the album because it won't make money, but they won't let it get heard for free because it might reduce how much money they won't and can't make off it in the future?
Bureaucrats will have a hard time shutting down web distribution of quality media be it video, music or whatever. What might stop the distribution of this album is the fact that it is shite......

Fiona rocks! This song is awesome. Very moody and yes, diabolical. That's what makes it so cool. She is not singing off-key but rather just outside the norm. Sony records refused to release it but apparently it got leaked and now they are trying to shut down the sites that have it. You can get it here: https://www.geekdreams.com/mp3/fiona_apple/ It is very different (and in some cases, incomplete) but give it a chance. Record companies suck!
it's good that fiona's new songs getting airplay, good song
this pretentious bs is horrible.
it might be better if she stayed on key, or maybe that's the point to this diabolical sound.

Bummer, I only get a "Bandwith exceeded" message. I would run out and buy this record if it were for sale.

I'm so glad Bill "came upon" a copy of Fiona's unreleased album...I've enjoyed hearing a few cuts off it espeically since I couldn't go pay money for it I wanted to :-(
I didn't think it was creepy at all. Is it just me, or is she in a good mood? Not going by the lyrics, obviously -- they still scare me -- but she seems to be having fun. Don't know how I feel about that.
From www.fionaapple.org:
Fiona Apple's third album, Extraordinary Machine, has been shelved by Sony for a lack of commercial appeal. Known collaborators are producer Jon Brion and drummer Matt Chamberlain. The record consists of 11 tracks, and has been complete since May 2003.

Wow, is this from a new album? 'Bout time, Fiona!
8) Impressive... Suck Fony!
I'm not sure what to think of this song. It's a little creepy.
