Indeed, sounds like the Doobie Brothers and Toad the Wet Sprocket in a blender. Which isn't too bad, but it does sound very derivative.

It's a minor 7th chord, being strummed at the same rhythm as the Doobie's tune - which also employs a Gm7 chord.  The Doobie Bros, however, did not invent the minor 7th chord, and there are far more than 10 to 12 known chords - there are about 50 chord variations for each of the 12 notes.

My LAST guess would have been Vertical Horizon. My FIRST would have been James Taylor. Or guest singer with DMB. Decent tune.

I used to really like these guys. Then they totally changed their sound and the radio found them (for a while). Still dig their old stuff... like this one. Japan is an awesome song too.

yay my upload...and I like how there's a rating of '3' the first time the song is played while it's still in it's intro...way to judge a song by the build-up. Anyway, this entire live album is excellent, really shows a whole different side of Vertical Horizon from their earlier work.
