Old days, don't come to find me
The sun is just about to climb up over there
While my heart is sinking I do not want my voice
To go out into the air

Did you leave the darkness without me?
You're always miles ahead
And you're standing in tomorrow on the runway

Oh, be the music in my head
The air around my bed
Oh, be my rest
Replace the small disgraces of the times and places
That I never really left

Did you leave the darkness without me?
You're always miles ahead
And you're standing in tomorrow on the runway

Oh, I want to fly, fly forward into the light
Be alive, to come alive
On the leaf-bright Friday drive
Sudden horses at the red light
Turn around, see clearer ways to go now

OMG, not another whiny girly voice...
Pristine. Makes me feel good...and produces a much needed smile on this kind yet aging face.

Nice song!
let's get the gun  {#Yell}  Reminds of "Can I take my gun to heaven".  sorry, i think it was a good tune............nice logo, too

I believe I HAVE this record!

I'm sinking in twee! Help me! I can't take much more of this. . . someone please throw me a snare. . . a Marshall amp. . . a cowbell. . . ANYTHING!

Me, too, tulfan! {#High-five}  Something about the childlike quality of the vocals and the simple, melodic music always makes me breathe easier and do a little daydreaming of sunshine, meadows, and birds singing. Love this song...

I ALWAYS feel better after hearing one of their pieces...
Karen's voice is divine!
Can't believe I had given this only a '7'.  I just bumped it to a '9'.  How cum I don't have this record?!?

The album "Glow" (1995) is one of their best. Highly recommended.

Oh yeah - almost forgot - wouldn't know diddley-squat about this band or many awesome others if not for RP. I'd be stuck in the '80s - OH NOES! {#Eek}
I like it. Belle & Sebastian sensibilities with some Sundays thrown in.

Doh!  You guys beat me to it!...Did I mention that I think her voice is rather ethereal and lilting?  {#Tongue}

I love her voice!!!!
Ohh... hadn't heard this one from them! Nice, as usual. She has such a lovely voice!
Reminds me sort of Sandy Denny, Fairport Convention
This one always puts a smile on my face.
heart felt music
I like her voice.

Stina Nordenstam, methinks.

I never rate below 5, give Bill some credit for not addin' suko barfo shit to his own precious station! True! I've never heard a song that warrents a below 5 ratin' on RP!
So much sweetness and melancholy makes some people sick, i just love it! Oscar
Sounds like "standing on tomorrow in your underwear"?
I like her voice a lot. It makes the song. The acoustic guitar is pleasant but not notable. The composition is meant to create an contemplative ambience and it succeeds.

This is cute.
Delicate sounds with boring lyrics lead to me firing up my CD player.

Gotta admit this made me chuckle...

I agree with what others have said - that Karen Peris's voice is a bit too precious for me. She does a couple of songs with Natalie Merchant, though - Frozen Charlotte and When They Ring the Golden Bells, I think - and that combination of voices is just amazing. They suit each other perfectly. Anyway, I still enjoy this, but the little-girl quality of the voice does get a bit much for me.
It not only speaks to me... it sings to me. 8.
OMG Thought this was Anna Ternheim for a minute there.
Beautiful.
mission accomplished

That's funny...the voice is what I *like* about this song.

What an incredible recording of a remarkably unusual and evocative voice.
I love IM. Thanks RP.
If I make it into heaven this will be one of the songs playing there.
I'm sorry... I just can't stand that voice.

Ah! The very reason I like it!

Accurate, but I'm not sure that there's a puke smiley big enough to cover that drivel.
This lot are nice - they can be a tad too 'lovely' for me at times though. Maybe I just don't know them well enough yet...

I, for one, don't need the dietary inventory with the "puke" emoticon....But it does ADD IMPACT!
This is an awesome melancholy song. Those who despise it are probably "happy" all the time. Life's not always . The comments show their "happy" faces. I should know--been there, will do it again.

Ooooooh, I like that analogy!

It's almost noon over here and the sun is shining brightly. This song totally ruins the mood. Maybe if it was the middle of the night I'd like it better.
I really like Innocence Mission. They truly seem to have an innocence about them, and I love the childlike vocals. I could probably listen to their music for hours...
Whay a relaxing song. :chillpill.gif:

I think the whole album is a haunting gem. It's amazing from start to finish, a pure pleasure.

I've got 2 cd's by IM but haven't heard this one. Their songs all sound kindof the same... and yet I never tire of any of it. Perhaps becuase it's so subtle.. it always seems fresh.
This song is hauntingly beautiful :nodhead:
You could play this 10 times in a row and I'd be up for listening to it just one more time. That woman's voice is enchanting and cuts through what ever distractions I have here. (Which is not good when my wife is trying to talk to me) ;)
More of The Innocence Mission, please. Love her voice :nodhead:
sweet as honey... pretty good
She plays with her voice, almost like having fun, she could be "diva", she doesn't want that... great band, amazing voice, great CD! Oscar

A delicate and graceful song that packs one hell of a punch. Gorgeous
Karen has a beautiful voice. The Innocence Mission has been around for a while. She is of Amish background, which explains a lot about her worldview. Thanks for adding this!

Kinda Edie Brickell-ish, no?
The difference being that Edie Brickell can sing.
I almost don't want to like this, must be bias. Not bad actually. Liked the comment about articulating an 8 year old voice, wondering if that biased me. *File under check out again.
Great song from a terrific band.

Doesn't it make you want to hold hands and run through the fields picking flowers? ugh. :-&

If I weren't actually listing to it I'd have thought you were insane for making a comment like this, but... I'll be damned you're right. How does she do that?
This blows
Whee!! Seriously.
Beautiful!
Oh I love this song and Innocence Mission! Karen's voice is what I would imagine would come out of an 8-year old on a swingset in the summer if the 8-year old could articulate the happiness of that moment. It makes me want to drive on a windy country road in spring with the windows down.
Nice, a bit like the Sundays too...
this band makes me all happy inside : )
I have loved the Innocence Mission since they came to play the Hatch shell in Boston, many years ago now. They are *wonderful*. I still don't understand why they don't get more airplay, but that you for correcting that. :D Please, more tracks from this album. Thanks Bill and Rebecca.

Joni Mitchell says this is one of her favorite bands. Easy to see why. Play lots and lots more of them.
Kinda Edie Brickell-ish, no? I like it. The simplistic innocence belies a more complex undertone.
