A most unusual song.
I'm hearing more Aimee Mann-ish than Suzanne Vega-ish.
Liked this song enough to register with RP so I could say so.
I like her in French much better.
First time I've heard it... I don't hate it... I don't love it... umm, I think I could grow to like it in some fun kind of way... do do do do da da da da dum dum dum dum... ... story teller, she is.

Sounds like Suzanne Vega doing a cross between "Luca" and MC Hammer's "The Addams Family" theme - still, I like it.
I'm with you all the way to the "I like it" part. Death_to_Clear_Channel wrote:
Bunk. Pure bunk. The good news for her is she'll probably get a commercial or movie deal for her chorus from those grassfuckers in Hollywood and 5th Ave. God bless you sweetheart. Whatever your name is.
Grassfuckers? LMAO. That's a new one.
yeah! i haven't heard a whole lot of this, never mind the naysayers. it's new to me, and fun.

How come when a woman does the talking over music thing does everyone say Suzanne Vega? This woman happens to sound nothing like her.
Hmm, vega sings/talks in a similar monotonous dissafected way at about the same pitch and speed. What's so different about it?
I'm thinking more Nellie McKay then Suzanne Vega. Though I'm sure someone is going to point out to me that Nellie McKay is just Suzanne Vega also. I like it.

LMAO...exactly!
Kinda nice. I wonder if she's covered any Serge Gainsbourg? :nodhead:

Anybody else think Suzanne Vega? Edit: Oops guess so. Missed the comment below.
On and off. The title track is great, several others are just OK, finishes with a flourish. Overall, maybe a "6"? jean-louis wrote:

Little Keren Ann Vega. Not quite all growed up yet. Decent, but not at the level of her "big sister."
droppin' the ball a little with this one.
99 Luft Balloons redux - possibly an acquired taste my buds don't own
How annoying is this! Sorry I guess we all have our own tastes but this isnt to mine.
I really enjoyed this song...if anyone is familiar with "Les Miserables"...parts of this song sound like "At the End of the Day"...does anyone else hear that?

Love the voice, cold sober, still sexy...
Interesting pairing with The Smiths. At first I thought she might be the "female Morrisey," but then she started singing 90 miles an hour. Still, this is pretty nifty.
Can we pump some more VAST or something into the system?
Hell yeah! "Thrown away"!
I thought she was French...if so, she's doing a great job with the débit of the song. And I'm hearing a bit of Suzanne Vega-ness. EDIT: She's far more than French: AMG wrote:
Singer/songwriter Keren Ann Zeidel, who records under the name Keren Ann, was born in Israel in 1974 to a Dutch-Javanese mother and a Russian-Israeli father. She was nine when her parents bought her a guitar, on which she learned to play songs by Joni Mitchell and Serge Gainsbourg. In the years to come, she would also learn to play the harmonica and the clarinet. Zeidel and her family, including a brother and sister, lived in Israel and Holland before settling in Paris, France, when she was 11.
Emphasis mine, bien sûr.

I know RP is traditionally more laid back than other alternative stations (and extremely more alternativately alternative), but I'm starting to nod off this morning. Can we pump some more VAST or something into the system?
Cool song - good rythm to her lyrics. Spare in kind of a cool way.
:D I love this! Is the rest of the album as good?

I think she could give the Barenaked Ladies a run for their money in a contest to see who can sing the fastest. I rather like this though.
Ever hear the Meat Puppets' song "Sam"? This is a pretty cool tune! Different.
